Acute vestibular syndrome is a syndrome of clinical symptoms associated with sudden damage to the periphery of the vestibular organ. The most important element in the treatment of patients with vestibular syndrome is motor rehabilitation, which is beneficial for central compensatory processes. The aim of the study was to compare the effectiveness of two methods of rehabilitation (training habituation versus sensory conflicts) in patients after vestibular neuronitis and vestibular neurectomy. The material includes the results of the overall balance of the Sensory Organization Test and subjective assessment of the severity of dizziness before and after rehabilitation performed by various methods. Twenty subjects after vestibular neuritis (Group I) and 20 patients after vestibular neurectomy (Group II) were included in the study. In group I, the patients were admitted to the Otolaryngology Clinic Medical University of Warsaw Emergency Room with the diagnosis of vestibular neuritis. In group II, patients had vestibular neurectomy due to Meniere disease with strong untreated vertigo. Both types of rehabilitation lead to a significant improvement in the overall balance of the Sensory Organization Test and subjective assessment of the severity of vertigo irrespective of the extent of injury in the vestibular organ. Better results were obtained in the group after vestibular neuritis treated with sensory conflicts.

Introduction. Post-traumatic epilepsy develops as a complication of a serious craniocerebral trauma, frequently an open head injury, resulting in neurological impairments. Aim. The study was designed to discuss problems associated with sensory integration dysfunction observed in a seven-year old girl with epilepsy which occurred as a result of craniocerebral injury. Description of the case. The case study is based on information gained from the girl’s medical records, an interview with her guardians and a sensory function questionnaire. Additional examinations assessed the girl’s balance control, and her functional performance according to Barthel scale. The girl received a three-week sensory integration therapy which included exercise involving tactile, vestibular and proprioceptive stimulation, as well as balance exercises and self-care training. Conclusions. In this particular case, application of sensory integration therapy produced beneficial results. The findings show improvement in balance, coordination as well as self-care.

Tourism business executives should discover critical ways to create a memorable experience by appealing to consumers’ multi-sensory organs emotionally and rationally. From this point of view determining the most successful multi-sensory brand experience concept, which the customers fi nd most satisfying, is becoming a critical marketing strategy. So this study aims to fi nd the sensory based memorable tourism experiences, attributes/specifi c elements of the hotel business. With this aim, Adam&Eve Hotel, a themed hotel in Antalya, was chosen as the study sample. In this exploratory research, comments which were made electronically on Tripadvisor. com, known as the world’s most visited online social travel information channel about the holiday experience, constituted the search data and the data was subjected to content analysis via Nvivo Software and the critical multi-sensory organs that create memorable tourism experiences were defi ned. The analysis of the results has been performed on the basis of fi ve sensory stimuli: 1) tactile, 2) gustatory, 3) olfactory, 4) visual, and 5) auditory. The fi ndings also revealed that nearly 70 percent of the recalled emotions and feelings from sensations related to visual stimuli which were detailed with the components like decor, interior/exterior design, etc.

Nowadays, we are noticing more and more new technological solutions that fit into the field of sensory marketing, the implementation of which is in a relatively preliminary stage. They are intended to improve customer experience. The main objective of the research is to determine the main topics covered in the literature. This article covers a systematic literature review of research conducted to date on new technologies that are part of the field of sensory marketing related to customer experience. The research search was based on two databases: Scopus and Web of Science Core Collections. Studies conducted between 2007 and May 2022 were included. Four inclusion criteria were used: database, terms, language, and cover period. No methods were used to assess the risk of bias in the included studies. 33 items of literature were qualified for qualitative synthesis. Based on the analysis, a conceptual framework of the most commonly used antecedents and outcomes in research was created, and two main research areas were identified: sense of telepresence and research by technology type. In view of this, further research directions based on the identified research gaps were indicated.

The review shows recent dynamics and directions of methodological development in multidisciplinary area of sensory analysis of food interfaced with consumer preferences and acceptance measurements. Impact of increasing knowledge of physiology and psychology of sensory perception as well as availability of advanced multivariate statistical techniques for data processing has been stressed. Applicability of the achievements in product development and in implementation of health-promoting diet is discussed.
Analiza sensoryczna zajmuje wśród metod analizy żywności szczególne miejsce, ponieważ analizuje jakość żywności poprzez percepcję jej atrybutów przez człowieka. Przedstawiono przegląd głównych grup analitycznych metod sensorycznych oraz metod konsumenckich i ich zastosowań, oraz ich rozwoju, w szczególności w ostatniej dekadzie. Głównymi wyznacznikami tego rozwoju jest lepsze zrozumienie fizjologicznych i psychologicznych podstaw tych metod, oparte o rozwój badań podstawowych oraz zastosowanie zaawansowanych wielowymiarowych metod statystycznych do analizy i interpretacji wyników. Dzięki tym ostatnim możliwe jest „nakładanie" wyników analizy opisowej (profilowej) na mapy preferencji konsumenckich, co stanowi ważne analityczne narzędzie prognostyczne przy opracowywaniu nowych produktów, w tym produktów pozwalających realizować prozdrowotny model żywienia.

Teaching a foreign language to young learners requires of the teacher a special ability to involve them in a variety of activities explicitly accommodating their need for whole-person enjoyment and implicitly fostering their L2 knowledge. This complex pedagogic task is likely to be achieved with reliance on the multi-sensory approach which is recommended by the European Co-operation Programs as an alternative L2 teaching trend encompassing universal, proactive qualities and educational diversity. Consequently, the following paper highlights the multisensoiy approach as the driving force of the lexically oriented syllabus designed by the author for young children learning English as a foreign language. The said syllabus design is presented through the empirical filter of knowledge claims and value judgements about its efficiency.

Przedmiotem artykułu jest jeden z najnowszych obszarów praktyki oraz badań prowadzonych na pograniczu nauk społecznych (psychologia, pedagogika) oraz medycyny – integracja sensoryczna. Celem artykułu jest opis podstawowych elementów definiujących integrację sensoryczną: dziejów, definicji, założeń teoretycznych i metodologicznych. Artykuł ma zatem charakter wprowadzający, porządkujący i metateoretyczny. Potrzebę badań w tym zakresie uzasadnia niejasny status poznawczy integracji sensorycznej, połączony z dużą popularnością tego zakresu wiedzy i praktyki terapeutycznej.
The subject of this article is one of the most-recent additions to the field of practice and research conducted on the borderline between social sciences—psychology, pedagogy—and medicine—sensory integration. The purpose of this article is to describe the basic elements defining sensory integration: history, definitions, and theoretical and methodological assumptions. The nature of this article is therefore introductory, referential, and metatheoretical. The need for research in this field is justified by the unclear cognitive status of sensory integration, combined with the great popularity of this sphere of therapeutic practice and knowledge.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is associated with variable communication difficulties and disorders, mostly detected in pragmatic language abilities, sensory integration, and imitation. These components are important for a comprehensive speech-language therapy (SLT) intervention. This article describes the application of a new evaluation material for assessing imitation abilities, partial pragmatic abilities based on the recognition of graphical visual diagrams, and sensory integration in two boys with ASD (diagnosed with childhood autism in accordance with International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, WHO) with sensory integration difficulties, dyspraxia symptoms, and imitation skill disturbances. The main objective is to identify potential obstacles to SLT efficiency and the causes of disturbed pragmatic language abilities. The analysis of the case studies shows some progress in communication ability; however, some of the abilities related to sensory integration have been partially inhibited. In one case, we suggest the possible influence of the individual therapy based on the described detailed assessment.

Therapy of sensory processing disorders is becoming more widespread and available as a therapeutic method, and supports the development of a child. Recently, the availability of classes conducted using this method has greatly increased, and more and more children are beginning to take part in these therapeutic activities. Sensory processing disorders have signifi cant impact on the functioning of a child. The study was conducted to answer the question of whether and how co-existing diseases and disorders can affect the process of diagnosis and therapy in the fi eld of sensory processing disorders. The study included a group of children reported to diagnosis for sensory integration disorders at the Center for Sensory Integration Disorders and Rehabilitation in Lublin between 2012-2014. All subjects lived in the Lublin Voivodeship. We analyzed records of 40 children aged 2 years 6 months to 9 years 8 months, for whom the diagnosis was carried out in the direction of sensory processing disorders, and their diagnosis indicated a sensory integration dysfunction. At the time of beginning therapy, on the basis of interviews conducted with parents/legal guardians, co-existing diseases or disorders related to 37% of those undergoing therapy. Additional tests and consultations, conducted already in the course of therapy, showed co-existing disorders or diseases for a larger group of children - data collected during the 6-month period from the beginning of treatment showed that 65% of children required care of a specialist clinic. The largest group were children who required additional orthoptic therapy. Knowledge of co-existing diseases and disorders is a condition making the therapy safe and effective. Terapia zaburzeń przetwarzania sensorycznego jest coraz bardziej rozpowszechniona i dostępna jako metoda terapeutyczna oraz wspierająca rozwój dziecka. W ostatnim czasie znacznie wzrosła dostępność zajęć prowadzonych tą metodą, a w zajęciach terapeutycznych uczestniczy coraz większa liczba dzieci. Zaburzenia przetwarzania sensorycznego w istotny sposób wpływają na funkcjonowanie dziecka. Badanie przeprowadzono w celu uzyskania odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy i w jaki sposób choroby i dysfunkcje współistniejące mogą mieć wpływ na przebieg diagnozy i terapii w zakresie zaburzeń przetwarzania sensorycznego. Badanie obejmowało grupę dzieci zgłoszonych na diagnozę w kierunku zaburzeń integracji sensorycznej w Centrum Terapii Zaburzeń Integracji Sensorycznej i Rehabilitacji w Lublinie w latach 2012-2014. Wszyscy badani zamieszkiwali województwo lubelskie. Analizie poddano dokumentację 40 dzieci w wieku od 2 lat 6 miesięcy do 9 lat 8 miesięcy, u których przeprowadzono diagnozę w kierunku zaburzeń przetwarzania sensorycznego, a przeprowadzona diagnoza wskazywała na zaburzenia integracji sensorycznej. W chwili podejmowania terapii, na podstawie przeprowadzonego z rodzicami/opiekunami prawnymi wywiadu, choroby lub zaburzenia współistniejące dotyczyły 37% podejmujących terapię. Dodatkowe badania i konsultacje, podejmowane już w trakcie trwania terapii, wykazały u większej grupy dzieci zaburzenia lub choroby współistniejące – dane zebrane z okresu 6 miesięcy od momentu rozpoczęcia terapii wykazały, że 65% dzieci wymagało opieki poradni specjalistycznej. Najliczniejszą grupę stanowiły dzieci, które wymagały dodatkowo terapii ortoptycznej. Znajomość zaburzeń i chorób współistniejących warunkuje prowadzenie terapii bezpiecznej i skutecznej.

Opis:
This article presents an optic-thermal set which is designed to continuously control monitored space using two vision cameras and a thermo-vision camera installed on a rotary head. On receiving data this set recognizes and identifies floating and low-flying objects on the basis of their classification features and thermal characteristics. The data on location of detected targets is displayed on an electronic chart of the monitored area pursuant to the requirements specified for automated command systems. In addition, the set is capable of tracking movement of selected objects in real time.
W artykule przedstawiono zestaw optyczno-termalny, który przeznaczony jest do ciągłego nadzoru nad obserwowaną przestrzenią za pomocą dwóch kamer wizyjnych i kamery termowizyjnej zainstalowanych na obrotowej głowicy. Zestaw ten wykorzystując pozyskaną informację, dokonuje rozpoznania i identyfikacji obiektów pływających i obiektów nisko lecących na podstawie ich cech klasyfikacyjnych i charakterystyk termicznych. Informacje o położeniu wykrytych obiektów są przedstawione na elektronicznej mapie cyfrowej obserwowanego akwenu zgodnie z wymaganiami stawianymi dla zautomatyzowanych systemów dowodzenia. Ponadto zestaw ten ma możliwość śledzenia ruchu wybranych obiektów w czasie rzeczywistym.

In the article, conclusions from different research projects carried out by scientists over several decades are presented. They concern the co-occurrence of different sensory dysfunctions, including even genetic ones, as well as learning difficulties. The efficiency of therapeutic measures taken within sensory integration therapy has also been described.
W artykule przedstawiono wnioski z projektów badawczych przeprowadzonych w ciągu kilku dekad. Dotyczą one współwystępowania różnych dysfunkcji sensorycznych (w tym genetycznych) oraz trudności w uczeniu się. Opisano pomiary efektywności podjętych działań terapeutycznych z zakresu terapii integracji sensorycznej.

The purpose of this paper was to determine the vitamin C content and the selected consumption features (tastiness and cooking type) in edible potato tubers with colored flesh. The research material consisted of tubers of eight edible potato cultivars collected from a field experiment conducted in 2021 and 2022 at the Agricultural Experimental Station in Zawady of Siedlce University of Natural Sciences and Humanities (52°03’N; 22°33’E). The following cultivars were grown: two cultivars with red flesh – Rote Emma and Herbie 26, five cultivars with purple flesh – Blaue Annelise, Provita, Salad Blue, Vitelotte and Bora Valley, as well as one traditional cultivar, light yellow fleshed – Eurostar. The cultivar features of the potato tubers significantly modified the content of vitamin C and they determined cooking properties of the potato. The cultivars with red and purple flesh accumulated more vitamin C than the traditional cultivar. The cultivar Rote Emma and Salad Blue had the best tastiness, while the cultivar Herbie 26 and Bora Valley proved to be the least tasty. The red and purple-fleshed cultivars were dominated by the salad cooking type A and they differed significantly from the traditional cultivar Eurostar. Potato tubers with colored flesh are a valuable and attractive offer to the consumer.

Vitamin E content and sensory qualities of γ-irradiated sunflower whole grain cookies

The sources of vitamin E in the diet are oils, margarines, seeds, nuts and cereal grains. Industrialized sunflower whole grain cookies were treated with gamma irradiation and evaluated for changes in vitamin E content and sensory properties. Radiation doses were 0.0, 1.0 and 3.0 kGy, the dose rate was 3.5 kGy/h. Irradiation at 1 and 3 kGy resulted in no changes in vitamin E content measured as α-tocopherol equivalents by a colorimetric measurement based method. A sensory panel composed of 22 trained members found that irradiation even at 1 kGy induced certain small, but statistically significant differences in sensory characteristics for appearance, aroma, texture and flavor attributes. From the obtained results, it is possible to conclude that there was a notorious stability of the vitamin content of the product submitted to γ-irradiation at the assayed doses. Meanwhile, irradiation at room temperature of this ready to eat food item caused small but statistically significant effects on sensory (marketing) attributes.

Mango is an important commodity to our country as Brazil is a great producer and exporter of tropical fruits. Nowadays, Mexico and India are the main exporters of mango in the world and Brazil occupies the third position in this ranking. As these countries have adopted gamma radiation as a phytosanitary treatment and signed a bilateral agreement with the United States for exporting mango to this country, Brazil has to be up-to-dated with this trend. The Institute of Nuclear and Energy Researches together with field producers in the northeastern region and partners like the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Canadian Irradiation Center and Empresa Brasileira de Agropecuária joined to demonstrate this technology, its application and its commercial feasibility. The whole project was structured in two parts that involved around 1300 mangoes. The first step consisted mainly in studying the quality of irradiated mangoes within our territory, using a multipurpose semi-commercial cobalt facility, and comparing two harvesting points of the fruits. The second one was an international consignment of irradiated fruits from Brazil to Canada, where the control sample consisted of fruits treated with a hot water dip. The financial part of the feasibility study covers the scope of the investment, including the net working capital and production costs. In a summarized way to express, the results from physicochemical analysis and sensory evaluation were favorable, indicating that gamma radiation is a potential quarantine treatment.
