Opis:
Multidimensional Geographical Information System allows storing, querying and processing of multidimensional query data. It is able to process satellite imagery and provide tools for its analysis. In the article authors present the developed system that analyzes a time series of SENTINEL - 1 mission satellite imagery acquired over the coast of Poland. The algorithm used finds and detects changes in the shape of the coastline over a long period of time. The system uses a Raster Data Manager array database management system to simplify the process of data querying, trimming, storing and analysing. Authors present how the recent trends in GIS development, like RASDAMAN, can be applied to satellite imagery processing.

Opis:
Route planning is one of the core functionalities of modern navigational systems also in inland waters. There is a possibility of at least partial automation of this process with the use of graph searching algorithms. Main problem here is to create a graph based on nautical spatial data. The paper presents research on examining dif-ferent graph searching methods for inland waters. The concept of using combined approach for vector and ras-ter data is given, followed by research results for raster data.

Opis:
In the article authors present the structure of recourses management system in local government on example of one of the Varsovian district. Recourses are understanding as building and land (cadastral) data enriched by different accessible materials. The methodology of system construction, range of data as well as functions realized by the system were introduced. The architecture of a system is (with some modifications) the classical solution characteristic for systems of GIS type. Such a system is designed to support of economic, social and administrative decision making as well as is a ground to bring cadastral system into effect.

Opis:
An analysis is the process of browsing and searching for specific information from an entire dataset. The simplest analysis that can be performed on the data is visual analysis. However, it does not provide absolute certainty as to correctness and quality. A more advanced way of selecting required data is computer-based analysis. Analytical operations are performed on the data entered into the computer. The user defines the query, and the program performs calculations and displays the answer on the monitor screen. The aim of this publication is to conduct network analyses with the use of spatial databases. Besides focusing on the analysis as the leading research method, the paper also adopts this method to analyze the literature on the subject. In addition, the paper points to the complementary roles of the raster model and the vector model, emphasizing their coexistence. The paper shows a variety of applications of GIS analyses, from simple buffers around selected areas, through selection, and the intersection of layers, to network analyses. The high degree of advancement of GIS tools allows to build advanced models in which analyses that go beyond the original application of the collected databases can be run.

Opis:
The study area is focused on the Kuril–Kamchatka Trench, North Pacific Ocean. This region is geologically complex, notable for the lithosphere activity, tectonic plates subduction and active volcanism. The submarine geomorphology is complicated through terraces, slopes, seamounts and erosional processes. Understanding geomorphic features of such a region requires precise modelling and effective visualization of the high-resolution data sets. Therefore, current research presents a Generic Mapping Tools (GMT) based algorithm proposing a solution for effective data processing and precise mapping: iterative module-based scripting for the automated digitizing and modelling. Methodology consists of the following steps: topographic mapping of the raster grids, marine gravity and geoid; semi-automatic digitizing of the orthogonal cross-section profiles; modelling geomorphic trends of the gradient slopes; computing raster surfaces from the xyz data sets by modules nearneighbor and XYZ2grd. Several types of the cartographic projections were used: oblique Mercator, Mercator cylindrical, conic equal-area Albers, conic equidistant. The cross-section geomorphic profiles in a perpendicular direction across the two selected segments of the trench were automatically digitized. Developed algorithm of the semi-automated digitizing of the profiles enabled to visualize gradients of the slope steepness of the trench. The data were then modelled to show gradient variations in its two segments. The results of the comparative geomorphic analysis of northern and southern transects revealed variations in different parts of the trench. Presented research provided more quantitative insights into the structure and settings of the submarine landforms of the hadal trench that still remains a question for the marine geology. The research demonstrated the effectiveness of the GMT: a variety of modules, approaches and tools that can be used to produce high-quality mapping and graphics. The GMT listings are provided for repeatability.
