Opis:
The paper focused on designing and developing a Raspberry Pi based system employing a camera which is able to detect and count objects within a target area. Python was the programming language of choice for this work. This is because it is a very powerful language, and it is compatible with the Pi. Besides, it lends itself to rapid application development and there are online communities that program Raspberry Pi computer using Python. The results show that the implemented system was able to detect different kinds of objects in a given image. The number of objects were also generated displayed by the system. Also the results show an average efficiency of 90.206 % was determined. The system is therefore seen to be highly reliable.

Opis:
Building automation is a rapidly growing branch of electronics in recent years. This is due to the ever wider range of devices available on the market, as well as their decreasing prices. In addition to systems dedicated to the control of intelligent buildings such as KNX or LCN, new manufacturers are increasingly emerging to offer interesting solutions at an affordable price. As a rule, these devices are based on existing solutions, and individual manufacturers add new elements in hardware or software form. This paper presents a project of building automation controlled by Raspberry Pi. This microcomputer controls individual installations to provide functionality similar to that offered by dedicated systems.

In this covid19 pandemic the number of people gathering at public places and festivals are restricted and maintaining social distancing is practiced throughout the world. Managing the crowd is always a challenging task. It requires monitoring technology. In this paper, we develop a device that detects and provide human count and detects people who are not maintaining social distancing. The work depicted above was finished using a Raspberry Pi 3 board with OpenCV-Python. This method can effectively manage crowds.

Opis:
Two low-cost methods of estimating the road surface condition are presented in the paper, the first one based on the use of accelerometers and the other on the analysis of images acquired from cameras installed in a vehicle. In the first method, miniature positioning and accelerometer sensors are used for evaluation of the road surface roughness. The device designed for installation in vehicles is composed of a GPS receiver and a multi-axis accelerometer. The measurement data were collected from recorded ride sessions taken place on diversified road surface roughness conditions and at varied vehicle speeds on each of examined road sections. The data were gathered for various vehicle body types and afterwards successful attempts were made in constructing the road surface classification employing the created algorithm. In turn, in the video method, a set of algorithms processing images from a depth camera and RGB cameras were created. A representative sample of the material to be analysed was obtained and a neural network model for classification of road defects was trained. The research has shown high effectiveness of applying the digital image processing to rejection of images of undamaged surface, exceeding 80%. Average effectiveness of identification of road defects amounted to 70%. The paper presents the methods of collecting and processing the data related to surface damage as well as the results of analyses and conclusions.

The article presents an analysis of the use of a single-board computer Raspberry PI for video acquisition and transmission. The article focuses on requirements necessary for the recorded image to be used for face analysis to identify facial expressions and microexpressions. The quality of the recorded video frames was verified for different resolutions and fps using PSNR (Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio). Tests of CPU cores usage were also carried out for simultaneous recording and transmission of different types of video streams. The results show that the size of the effective image area depends on the resolution of recorded video stream. Increasing the frame rate for the given video resolution has a significant impact on the value of PSNR. And the resultant CPU usage, for the available resolutions and frame rates of the video recorded, in most cases does not exceed 15% of the total computing power of the CPU.

The article presents the power consumptions measurements performed for three wireless routers operating in IEEE 802.11n standard. A typical consumer-class device Asus RTAC66U was chosen, an operator-class Gateworks Laguna GW2387 and a router built based on the Raspberry Pi3 platform. The aim of experiments was to test the influence of the beacon interframe interval, a client association (joining) in the network and the transmission itself, on the lifetime of battery-powered devices. Theoretical calculations were also performed for the influence of the analyzed scenarios on the battery-powered devices.

The paper presents a review of ultrasonic sensors. Attention is focused on the possibility of using such sensors to keep an unmanned aerial vehicle at a constant altitude above the surface. Such a task requires filtered and unfiltered signals, so that the ground level can be distinguished even when obstacles are present. Three selected sensors were tested. The possibility of connecting these sensors to external devices was also studied. The potential of the individual sensors and of a set of sensors is discussed. The study showed that the best solution is to use a set of three ultrasonic sensors. Alternatively, a sensor with both unfiltered and filtered measurement was proved to be an adequate option.

Opis:
In this paper we present a conception of an embedded acoustic modem dedicated to the underwater communication. The Raspberry Pi is used as a low cost hardware platform. The solution of the physical layer consists in modulation, synchronisation, frames forming, symbol mapping, etc. Specifically, the modulation is based upon linear and hyperbolic chirp signal generation. The synchronisation is based upon the correlation of received and transmitted signals. The performance of the communication is tested by the computer simulation. The simulation is realized by USB sound cards and a wire. In the simulation, transmitted signals are intentionally degradated by the additive white gaussian noise.

Opis:
This paper deals with the image processing from the camera for Raspberry Pi connected with real-time communication network to the control system (PLC). The low time delay for receiving and sending commands, data, etc. is very important in the automating production processes. This can be provided by industrial real-time network based on Ethernet. The Ethernet POWERLINK, which is supported on B&R PLCs, is one of them. It is a simple solution for a variety of applications because the POWERLINK is publicly available as the open source. Connecting the PLC and Raspberry Pi with Ethernet POWERLINK opens up many applications in industrial automation. For example, image data obtained using a camera attached to Raspberry Pi can be used to sense image of manufacturing processes and products and evaluate their quality in industrial automation. This article focuses on an image processing unit and the PLC system with CPU redundancy used in the industrial application. Vision systems are often used to improve products quality control, saving costs and time.

Opis:
The article presents the possibility of using a cell phone to control the level of carbon dioxide in undercover tunnels and greenhouses. Studies show that increasing the level of carbon dioxide in the air under covers results in a significant increase in the yield of the crops produced. The proposed system is autonomous. Its essential element is the multimedia Raspberry Pi platform. Under the manufacturer’s assumptions, the Raspberry Pi is a microcomputer designed primarily for the operation of audio-visual equipment. It can also be used to build simple measurement systems and control systems such as the access control system. This article describes the basic features of the platform along with the extended modules. The proposed application is used to measure the CO2 content in the air in the cultivation tunnel. The system also measures temperature and relative humidity. The measured values are compared with the threshold values and the report is sent to the mobile phone selected by the user. The developed program reports on the values recognised as threshold ones. In response to the information received, the user may decide to remotely enable the increase of CO2 content in the air under cover. The motion sensor integrated with the system informs the user of the unauthorized entry into the controlled area. The latter element is considered a security element. While designing the system, a cost-minimisation principle of its adaptation was taken into account.

Python-based Intelligent Parking Management System (IPMS) module using a USB camera and a canny edge detection method was developed. The current situation of real-time parking slot was simultaneously checked, both online and via a mobile application, with a message of Parking “Available” or “Not available” for 10 parking slots. In addition, at the time entering in parking module, gate open and at the time of exit parking module, the gate closes automatically using servomotor and sensors. Results are displayed in figures with the proposed method flow chart.
