The paper is focused on the main problems of modern metrology in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution “Industry 4.0”, particularly in the field of qualimetry. The dominant issues of the methodology of qualimetrical measurement, as the interrelation between metrology and qualimetry, are considered. The following questions are raised and analysed: determination of the measurand in the qualimetrical measurement, creation of the virtual product quality pattern, determination of the product quality level by using the theory of multidimensional scaling, assurance of the metrological traceability of the qualimetrical measurement results. A procedure of performing the qualimetrical measurement is described.

Motivation: The motivation for the overview presented in this article is to provide a starting point for considering whether existing new product development methodology and its level of detail allows product teams to develop high-quality and business-effective product concepts. Aim: The aim of this article is recognise the current state of research into new product development methodology and to present the strategies and models for New Product Development (NPD). Materials and methods: The systematic review of the literature was applied in the article. Results: The first section outlines the main strategies for new product development and how they are divided by methodological stance, degree of planning, search pattern, focus and response. The second part discusses the known models of new product development including: the craft model and the 5 generations based on the innovation models described by Rothwell and the stages of the manufacturing process defined in the literature. Part four looks at new trends in new product development, including: Open Innovation, Rapid Product Development (RPD), Agile New Product Development (ANPD), Sustainable New Product development (SNPD), the Design Thinking method and the new technologies of Industry 4.0.

This article aims to investigate recall policies for product safety in Korea and make suggestions for future improvements. Problematic issues in current recall policies are reviewed and analyzed. Based on survey results and previous studies, this article discusses the consumer perception of a recall. Consumers tend to regard a recall as a signal of poor quality. Furthermore, regulatory differences and weak penalties remain as obstacles to improving the recall system. Suggestions for the betterment of recall policies are derived from consultations with an expert panel and the application of other appropriate methods. At first, despite an increasing number of recall cases in Korea, it turns out that consumers are not highly sensitive to recalls, although their perceptions are mostly negative. Secondly, regulatory inconsistencies and difference problems are primarily attributable to the existence of many separate rules and regulations by product category. Thirdly, the information concerning recalls is limited, which creates an inefficient environment in which manufacturers are reluctant to voluntarily recall a defective product and consumer participation rates are too low. Therefore, the government should induce consumers to have more positive perceptions of recalls whilst concurrently reinforcing the related rules and regulations in accordance with international standards.

In the paper a method is presented of the best variant selection of a manufacturing process of a rotor to open end spinning machine with use of original optimization proceeding based on adopted criteria, taking into consideration their importance. Unit manufacturing cost and five criteria of manufacturing quality were taken as criteria to the assessment. The assessment criteria resulted from calculations and measurements were normalized. Knowledge of experts was used to determine importance of the criteria taken to the assessment. Each from the experts had built his own importance matrix of the assessment criteria, comparable in pairs, using the Saaty’s method. The weights of individual criteria were determined on the basis of cumulative matrix. In the next stage of the proceeding, normalized decisions were created by raising each assessment to a power equal to corresponding weight. In the last stage of the proceeding, a single optimal ordering comprising the smallest s-th components of the individual decisions d1, d2, …, dm was created. A variant which corresponds to the largest component of the optimal ordering is assumed as the best variant.

The objective of the research study was to determine the effect of phosphate preparations added in the form of 1 % aqueous solutions of various pH values on the quality of emulsion-type sausages. Four variants of sausages were manufactured: control variant with no phosphate preparations added (V1) and three variants with the phosphate preparations added: V2: 7.3; V3: 8.3; and V4: 9.7. The pH values of the meat batter and finished product were determined and the yield of the finished product was estimated. In the sausages studied, the total heme pigments and nitrosylhemochroms were determined and the heme pigment conversion degree was calculated. The texture parameters were measured and the sensory analysis of the emulsion-type sausages was performed. It was found that the addition of phosphate preparations impacted the pH value of the finished product, its yield, the total heme pigments and nitrosylhemochroms, as well as the heme pigment conversion degree. Moreover, a positive effect was reported of the added phosphate preparations on the texture of finished products (their hardness and chewiness) compared to the sausages with no phosphate preparations added. It was confirmed that it was advantageous to add, during the production process, phosphate preparations in the form of 1 % aqueous solutions of higher pH values to the emulsion-type sausages made from mechanically separated poultry meat; a proof thereof was, among other things, the increased yield of the finished product (from 117.9 % as for V1 to 122.8 % as for V4). The best results were obtained when the pH value of 1 % aqueous solutions of phosphate preparations was 9.7.
Celem pracy było określenie wpływu dodatku preparatów fosforanowych w postaci 1-procentowych wodnych roztworów o różnym pH na jakość kiełbas homogenizowanych. Produkowano 4 warianty kiełbas: kontrolny (W1) bez dodatku preparatów fosforanowych oraz 3 warianty z ich dodatkiem o pH: W2 – 7,3, W3 – 8,3 i W4 – 9,7. Dokonano oznaczeń pH farszu oraz wyrobu gotowego, a także obliczono wydajność wyrobu gotowego. W badanych kiełbasach oznaczono zawartość barwników hemowych ogółem i nitrozylobarwników, a także obliczono stopień przereagowania barwników. Dokonano pomiaru parametrów tekstury i przeprowadzono analizę sensoryczną badanych kiełbas homogenizowanych. Stwierdzono, że dodatek preparatów fosforanowych wpłynął na pH gotowego wyrobu, jego wydajność, a także zawartość barwników hemowych ogółem, nitrozylobarwników oraz stopień przereagowania barwników. Stwierdzono także pozytywny wpływ preparatów fosforanowych na teksturę wyrobów (twardość i żujność) w porównaniu z kiełbasami bez ich dodatku. Dowiedziono celowości użycia w produkcji kiełbas homogenizowanych z odścięgnionego mięsa drobiowego 1-procentowych roztworów preparatów fosforanowych o wyższym pH, na co wskazuje m.in. wzrost wydajności gotowego wyrobu (ze 117,9 % – W1 do 122,8 % – W4). Najlepsze wyniki uzyskano przy użyciu 1-procentowych roztworów preparatów fosforanowych o pH 9,7.

Opis:
Peculiarities of formation, distribution and fertility of typical chernozems on the territory of Europe as a whole and within the agricultural lands of Ukraine were given. It is noted that the existing agro-industrial characteristics of agricultural products least reflect the quality of raw materials and therefore are not analyzed as a factor influencing public health. The relevance of biogeochemical research of food (agricultural) raw materials and the introduction of new criteria for its quality were outlined. The purpose of the presented research was to expand the quality indicators of agricultural products on the basis of topical structure of agricultural landscapes and biogeochemical criteria for evaluating "typical chernozems – cereals and vegetables" systems. A system of biogeochemical parameters and quality criteria of plant products containing two components has been developed. The first component is the spatial differentiation of natural and agro-technological features of agrolandscapes (systems of rocks-typical chernozems-cultures), which highlight the prevalence of nutrients in bedrock, particle size distribution of typical chernozems and the ratio of their prevalence within the administrative regions of Ukraine. There are 12 groups of agricultural landscapes that differ in these features. A set of biogeochemical parameters for the distribution of essential elements in the components of the agricultural landscape, criteria for their ecological balance and impact on the quality of agricultural raw materials.Implementation of the proposed criteria for the quality of agricultural products was carried out on the territories of two agrolandscapes of typical chernozems in the Kyiv and Poltava regions.It was established that the physico-chemical balance of Zn, Cu and excess Mo in the rocks and soils of the agro-landscape of the Right Bank Forest-Steppe is not consistent with biogeochemical deficiency of copper and, in part, zinc in cereals (oats). The physico-chemical balance of Zn, Cu in the soils of the agro-landscape of the Left Bank Forest-Steppe does not agree with the biogeochemical deficiency of zinc in vegetable crops (potatoes, carrots, and beets). On the basis of the biogeochemical criteria for the distribution of Zn, Cu, Mo in agricultural landscapes, the proposed territorial measures to improve the quality of grain and vegetable products to prevent copper and zinc "hidden hunger" in the population.

This paper presents the effects of mixing non-homogeneous bicomponent granular structures by the flow method with the use of an inverted cone insert as a supporting element. The analysis of homogeneity of mixtures after 10 consecutive flows was carried out based on computer image analysis. Based on these tests, the use of a nonlinear regression for the mo-delling of two selected parameters of the process was proposed. Spatial dependence was described by the relation between the va-riance of the tracer distribution (dependent variable) and density ratio of the mixed components, and the diameter of the cone insert used (independent variables). The mathematical description was made with the use of a ‘nonlinear regression’ module. The results obtained in these tests proved that the use of supporting insert improves the degree of mixability of granular materials. The two-dimensional model in the form of a quadratic function may be a for-mula for describing the influence of selected parameters on the homogeneity of a granulate mixture before the beginning of the mixing process.

This work presents the results of assessment of the quality of fruit jam before and after the modernization of the production line. Research was carried out at the factory of the fruits and vegetables processing. The modernization of the line included: installation of twin-screw pumps, exchange piston batcher on rotary batcher, assembly of the new stationary evaporator, inserting magnetic traps, the purchase of the new labelling machine and the automatic packaging machine. Qualitative parameters of the product, which were analysed based on organoleptic parameters (odour, colour, appearance, taste, con-sistency) and physico-chemical parameters (net weight, pH, total extract, total acidity). On the basis of gotten data from a production plant the calculations of basic statistics were performed. Than basing on comparative analysis (t-student test, sign test) an information about statistically essential diversity in the quality of the product before and after the modernization with reference to four parameters: consistency, appearance, net mass, total extract was gotten. Moreover the modernization influenced the CCP curtailment. This is very important in improving the system of the production of the safe food.
W pracy przedstawiono wyniki oceny jakości dżemu owocowego przed i po modernizacji linii produkcyjnej. Badania przeprowadzono w zakładzie przetwórstwa owocowo-warzywnego. Modernizacja linii obejmowała: instalację pomp dwuśrubowych, wymianę dozownicy tłokowej na dozownicę karuzelową, montaż nowej stacji wyparnej, wprowadzenie pułapek magnetycznych, zakup nowej etykieciarki oraz automatu pakującego. Parametry jakościowe produktu, które przeanalizowano odnosiły się do cech sensorycznych (barwa, konsystencja, wygląd, zapach oraz smak) oraz cech fizykochemicznych (masa netto, kwasowość ogólna, pH oraz ekstrakt ogólny). Na podstawie uzyskanych danych z zakładu produkcyjnego dokonano obliczeń podstawowej statystyki i wytypowano parametry do dalszej analizy. W oparciu o analizę porównawczą (test t-studenta, test znaków) uzyskano informacje o statystycznie istotnym zróżnicowaniu jakości produktu przed i po modernizacji w odniesieniu do czterech parametrów: konsystencja, wygląd, masa netto, ekstrakt ogólny. Ponadto wprowadzona modernizacja wpłynęła na zmniejszenie liczby CCP. Ma to duże znaczenie w doskonaleniu systemu produkcji bezpiecznej żywności.

This paper presents a universal prototype testing device for determining the kinetic durability of products of pressure agglomeration (pellets and briquettes). The device presented in the paper is equipped with replaceable test chambers enabling to combine Pfost's and Holmen's methods for the determination of kinetic durability of pellets, and a method for the determination of kinetic durability of briquettes. Equipping the device with an air blower and perforated chamber walls increases aggressiveness and allows an outlet for crushed particles from the chamber. The presented device will allow to perform tests that would make it possible to determine relationships between density and strength parameters of briquettes and pellets.
W pracy przedstawiono uniwersalne prototypowe urządzenie badawcze do określania wytrzymałości kinetycznej produktów ciśnieniowej aglomeracji (granulatu i brykietów). Przedstawione w pracy urządzenie posiada wymienne komory testujące, co pozwala na połączeniu metody Pfosta i Holmena do określania wytrzymałości kinetycznej granulatu oraz metody określania wytrzymałości kinetycznej brykietu. Zastosowanie nadmuchu powietrza i perforowanych ścianek komór w urządzeniu zwiększa agresywność i pozwala wyprowadzić rozkruszone cząstki z komory. Przedstawione urządzenie pozwoli na prowadzenie badań pozwalających ustalenie zależności pomiędzy gęstością a parametrami wytrzymałościowymi brykietów i granulatu.

The quality of joints in welded structures very often determines their suitability for further safe operation. The quality of welds assessed at least B, according to the PN-EN ISO 5817 standard, is the criterion for allowing many welded structures to be used in working conditions. The quality level B can be considered good, provided that the tested construction is not intended for use in extreme working conditions or in high-risk conditions. Strict acceptance criteria are applied to such environments, and the welds tested preferably meet the requirements of class B and do not have any defects. Even small discrepancies in the form of blisters, concave faces, etc. (qualifying for quality class B welds) should not be found in welds used for responsible steel constructions working in hazardous conditions. These defects may cause a loss of consistency of the material and, consequently, lead to a serious disaster. The article evaluated the quality of welded joints of selected welded elements of a power boiler. The inspection of welded joints was aimed at confirming the correctness of their performance and compliance with the technological and construction documentation as well as with the tightened technical acceptance conditions. As a result of visual and non-destructive tests, ultrasonic joints were allowed or withdrawn from further safe operation.

The aim of the present theme issue was to study the influence of ultrasound enhancement on the kinetcis of osmotic dehydration and the effect of convective drying from the point of view of drying time and quality of dried products. Apple fruit was used as the experimental material. The kinetics of osmotic dehydration with (UAOD) and without (OD) ultrasound enhancement were examined for 40% fructose and sorbitol solutions. The effective dehydration time of osmotic process was determined. Preliminary dehydrated samples with OD and UAOD were next dried convectively with (CVUS) and without (CV) ultrasound assistance. The influence of OD and UAOD on the kinetics of CV and CVUS drying was analysed. The parameters of water activity and colour change were measured for the assessment of product quality after drying process.

In the current economic situation, the diversification and competitive of the products offer, globalization of the markets, a continued growth of customers' requirements, improve a product quality, increasing the technical level and improving manufacturing technologies. For all of companies it is a priority to satisfy those customers and market requirements. In the article the main issues related with the evolution of ways of ensuring products quality like: availability-reliability-maintenance relationship, measuring quality aspects through quality characteristics, quality economy in terms of quality costs and quality control, were considered and analyzed. Recommendations for improving of production quality process such as: continuous improvement of product technological conception and constructive one using advanced processes, increasing concerns for quality assurance embodied in the increasing of production prevention costs in total, in parallel with decreasing the latter and continuous training of staff were presented.
