Opis:
This paper describes a control circuit for the active power filters working with three-phase AC power line. It describes logic circuitries as well as laboratory test results. The control circuit was realized with programmable logic devices, fast analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters. Proposed system working with open-loop control, it allows significantly simplifying its logic structure. Programmable logic devices do simultaneously a few independent tasks, so a control algorithm can be performing fast, improving considerably compensation dynamic. This paper includes results of laboratory tests of the active power filter consisted of proposed control circuit and a voltage-source converter.

Opis:
Power distance is one of the most researched dimensions of culture in Geert Hofstede’s framework. The vast majority of scholars refer to power distance as though it were something self-evident. Despite the hundreds of studies conducted on the basis of power distance, to date no one has seriously tried to propose a reconceptualization of power distance. Against that background, this paper aims to redefine Hofstede’s concept of power distance. It focuses on formulating a sketch of the three-level concept of power distance that essentially refers to Hofstedian tradition, but is at the same time entangled in different ontological and epistemological assumptions on the social world. The proposed way of understanding power distance creates space for, among other things, a more interaction- focused study on power dynamics in various settings. It also provides the possibility of formulating completely new hypotheses concerning psychological and sociological dimensions of exercising power.

The aim of the paper is to demonstrate how to use sampled method of control of a shunt active power filter to maintain invariable power of a supplying voltage source, even though the supplied load varies randomly. The definition by S. Fryze of load current components is used as a basis for the construction of a family of shunt active power filters. The distinctive property of these filters is maintaining non-deformed source current in every one individually considered period T. The main features of the family of filters are described in the first part of the paper, which is devoted to DC circuit. In the second part, the results are implemented to a single- and a three-phase circuit. Additionally, some new features, which may be applied only for AC circuit, are discussed in the second part. All the presented waveforms are obtained using computer simulation tools.

Opis:
The paper presents a concept of an active filter with energy storage. This solution can be used for the compensation of momentary one phase high power loads with discontinued power consumption (e.g. spot welding machines). Apart from the typical filtering capabilities, the system’s task is also the continuity of the input power from the feeder line and limiting its fluctuation. The proposed by the author’s solution can produce measurable economic benefits by reducing the rated power necessary to energize periodically operating loads and improving the indicators of electrical energy quality. The developed method of active power surges compensation enables a flexible approach to requirements concerning the rated power of the point to which the periodically operating loads with high peak current value are connected. The tests were conducted on a simulation model specially developed in Matlab & Simulink environment, proving high effectiveness of the presented solution.

Opis:
In many countries, the grid-code or standards do not allow the Photovoltaic (PV) inverters to exchange reactive power with the grid. Recently, some countries have relaxed the standards. Hence, capacity of the inverters to control reactive power must be utilized. However, the reactive power that a PV inverter can supply is constrained by the maximum power that a PV array generates and changes with the environmental conditions. A reactive power sharing algorithm is proposed that not only ensures proper distribution of reactive power amongst the inverters, but also ensures that the maximum power generated by PV is supplied to the grid. In case of identical PV inverters, the algorithm operates all inverters at nearly equal apparent power leading to nearly equal percentage utilization of the inverters, thereby achieving uniform heating of the similar devices of the inverters. The algorithms are further investigated for power sharing amongst PV inverters of unequal ratings. It is highlighted that the proposed algorithm results into the least change in the utilization factor of a PV inverter, whose power changes due to the change in environmental conditions. The effectiveness of the algorithm over other algorithms in sharing power amongst inverters is displayed through MATLAB/Simulink simulations.

Opis:
This paper presents the comparison among the control algorithms of a three phase, three wire shunt active power filter. The control algorithms are based on: 1) the current's physical components theory, 2) the p-q power theory. The active power filter operation under the distorted supply voltage at the point of common coupling condition is considered. The comparison concerns the aspects of: filtering current harmonics, reactive power compensation (defined in the fundamental harmonic domain), supply current balancing and dynamic performance. The results of the laboratory investigation, using the fast prototyping system dSPACE, are given in the paper. This paper confirms that the current's physical components theory allows developing the control algorithm of shunt active power filter and its practical implementation. The investigation allows the conclusion that this control algorithm enables achieving the supply system current shape close to the sinusoidal, despite shunt active power filter operation under the distorted supply voltage. A sinusoidal supply current cannot be attained by the control algorithm based on the p-q power theory without some additional control elements, such as: PLL, signal filters, etc. The experiment also has shown that the control algorithm based on the p-q power theory is easier to implement and less demanding in terms of hardware than the control algorithm based on the current's physical components theory.

Static Series Kompensator (SSC)
Opis:
The paper deals with the possibility of employing the Custom Power Static Series Compensator (SSC), whose primary aim is to compensate voltage sags, also as a Reactive Power Compensator. The idea arises from the observation that such device does not work for the majority of time and can therefore be usefully employed for other purposes, such as power factor corrections. To this aim, an "ad hoc" control algorithm is developed and thoroughly discussed in the paper. The effectiveness of such control scheme is then tested by applying the SSC to a load represented by an induction motor in order to improve its power factor. The whole system is modelled with the aid of the electromagnetic code PSCAD -EM TDC, which allows to describe with high detail all its components. The results of the simulations show the good response of the device, which enables to rapidly increase the power factor of the motor and maintains the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD ) of the injected phase voltages under the threshold value of 8%, as prescribed by CEI EN 50160 3.11.

Opis:
The considered shunt active power filter can be controlled not only to compensate non-active current in the supply source, but additionally to optimize energy flow between the source and the load. In such a case the filter shapes the source current to be active and simultaneously regulates its magnitude. The presented filter/buffer can operate properly even when the load contains AC or DC variable energy source of any characteristic. The device can optimize energy flow for a single load, but also for a group of loads as well. The distinctive feature of the employed control method of the filter/buffer is that certain changes of energy stored in the device are utilized as the source of information concerning the active current of the load. This control method is very flexible and can be implemented to nearly all structures of active filters, for DC, single- and multiphase circuits.

The paper presents the method for semi-automatic diagnostics of support structures for high voltage lines with use of metrical photographs. Diagnostics of electric power lines is an important component of their operation and consists of determination which components of the support structures need repairs or maintenance. However, it is a very time-consuming and usually really expensive process. Therefore this paper discloses the method that may make it easier to determine current technical condition of poles since it consists in comparison of real photos against virtual patterns that are developed on the basis of 3D models worked out from technical documentation. The proposed method makes it possible to analyze data that have been collected beforehand or can be applied online to carry out real-time investigations. However, application of the method in the on-line mode would enable much faster selection of poles for further assessment of them.
