Aim: A synthesis of different researches on outcomes in adventure and outdoor education was used in this paper, in order to develop universal tool, aiming to support analyzes of future groundwork materials in competences researches. Method: The article is based on extended literature review. The research becomes more multiplying than comparative in nature, or serves to deepen or add knowledge about outcomes in adventure outdoor education. Results: In this theoretical reasoning attempt of selection, classification, connection within broader categories of competences was made by reviewing previous researches and literature, moreover tested on examples of concrete educational process. Conclusion: In reviewed literature researchers often use tools designed particularly to serve this purpose and that are aimed at structuring the skills and competences acquired by participants of this kind of education. Other researchers dealing with this topic are likely to experience a difficulty while trying to summarize and compare the results of other research presented in literature due to the various classifications and terminology used.

The main purpose of this study was to examine how the relatively new initiative supporting active leisure of people, i.e., Family Recreation Zones, is perceived by its users. Data were collected from 215 persons aged 13 to 96 (M=44.19, SD 18.08). For nearly nine in ten persons Zones are the only space where they spend their leisure time actively. The main attractors are free access and the open air. Interestingly, for many respondents the proximity of playgrounds was not a benefit but rather a barrier to visiting Zones. Other barriers were the season of the year, a modest range of exercise devices, their damage, poor illumination, a perceived lack of safety and a lack of professional support during exercising.

Our study aimed to present amateur sports models during the CO VID-19 restrictions on outdoor activities. We used mixed research methods: the questionnaire research data and information available through wearable devices. We investigate physical activity phenomena based on questionnaire results and existing data from a popular social networking site. Firstly, we asked respondents about their training types, rhythm, and preferences in using new technologies (wearables devices and social networks to upload and share results) in individual physical activity practices. Secondly, we also used a collection of over 11 thousand photos of 3138 users, with metadata downloaded from Instagram to compare declarations and content. The obtained data were processed using machine learning and Python software. Analyzing the results, we showed a change in the intensity of practicing three selected types of activity. We also analyzed the data set (photos, tags, and metadata) from a social network. The conclusions show the potential of triangulation of methods and data to describe the amateur physical activity and the change of these practices during CO VID-19 limitations in indoor and outdoor sports.

Installing outdoor gyms (OGs) has become popular in many countries worldwide. To date, data about the perceptions and behaviours of its users are still being determined. Therefore, this study aimed to determine who and how uses the facilities and how their users perceive them. The sample comprised 1,036 exercisers aged 44.1±16.1 years. For over 85% of users, OGs are the facilities where they follow their planned exercise programme, with 56.2% declaring exercising solely there. The main perceived advantages of OGs are free-to-access (42.6%) and outdoor location (40.4%), while disadvantages are dependence on the season (57.2%) and the technical condition of devices (24.9%). The predominant motive for using OGs is to maintain and improve their health (38.6%) and stay fit (27.9%). OGs are an essential alternative to indoor gyms in situations of limited availability under pandemic conditions. For many people, they are even the only place to exercise.

The article presents the results of the research showing Polish teachers’ knowledge and experiences concerning organising outdoor education of children. The research searched for answers to the following questions: How do teachers define outdoor education? Where do they derive knowledge about it from? Do they take into account spaces and places other than the school building in the education process? What methods and forms of work with a child do they prefer? What factors facilitate and which make it difficult for them to practise outdoor education? The relationship between the selected aspects of outdoor education practised by teachers and the location of the school (city and village) was also examined. The research used the diagnostic survey method and the questionnaire technique. A proprietary questionnaire for elementary education teachers was developed. 276 respondents, in response to the questions, revealed their knowledge, their own views, and described their own activities related to the practice of outdoor education. Empirical data have shown that in Polish schools, outdoor education is practised extremely rarely, and its frequency is mainly related to the location of the facility. Incidentally conducted, it is characterised by a predominantly didaskalocentric attitude. Respondents indicate that only occasional education outside the school building results mainly from the lack of acceptance of this type of classes by the headmaster of schools and parents, and also from deficit of teachers’ competence in this area. The undertaken studies are important due to their unique nature in Poland. Moreover, they show directions of changes desired in teacher education curricula and the process of shaping parents’ awareness.

Mountain landscapes are generated by the interplay of endogenous and exogenous processes, whose reciprocal importance changes over times. The Italian relief reflects a high geomorphodiversity and an overview on iconic mountain landscapes, representative of the lithological-structural diversity of the Italian relief, is presented. The study cases, located along Alps and Apennines and in the Sardinia island, are exemplary for the comprehension of the role of the substratum in shaping mountain landscapes and of the deriving risk scenario. Moreover, mountain landscapes are characterized by a high potential for use in terms of: i) ideal open-air natural laboratories for multidisciplinary educational purposes including geological-geomorphological, historical and ecological topics; ii) possibility of specific outdoor activities that take advantage of outdoor sports (e.g., climbing, canyoning, speleology). These feasible and versatile opportunities favour the enhancement of such environments under different perspectives as well as the involvement of local communities and the socio-economic return deriving from mountain geoheritage management.

The bloom of reports in outdoor media such as circular letter, banners, and brochures regarding the appeals in preventing Covid-19 is interesting to analyze. This study aims to describe the meaning of implicatures and the causes of implicatures found in outdoor media, namely brochures, billboards, banners, and Covid-19 circular letter in the city of Lhokseumawe, Aceh, Indonesia. The type of research used in this research is qualitative with a descriptive-qualitative approach. 30 data were taken from outdoor media from February to May 2021. The data collection technique was carried out using the listen, be free, engage (get involved), talk (Simak Bebas Libat Cakap/SBLC) technique and take notes. After the data was collected, the next step was data analysis based on the formulation of the problem, namely how the meaning of implicatures and the causes of implicatures are. The meaning of implicatures was analyzed using the equivalent method by grouping the data based on the criteria and the advanced technique used by Equalizing/Distinguishing Comparison (Hubung Banding Menyamakan/Membedakan/HBSP) technique, while the causes of implicatures were analyzed using Dell Hymes theory, namely the SPEAKING speech component. The results of this study found that the meaning of implicatures contained in external media was in the form of conventional (96.6%) and non-conventional (3.33%) implicatures with implicature meanings in form of invitations, information, and appeals. The causes of implicatures found are influenced by the background of the atmosphere, the participants, the results, the message, the tone of speech, and the form of discourse.

Polish cities are currently facing an issue of intrusive billboards obstructing the faacades of buildings. While the majority of articles on this subject focus on the negative impact this phenomenon, little attention is drawn to the destructive technical effects the advertisements have on the facades. This article addresses phenomenon of visual pollution examins the influence of based on the example of selected buildings located in Lublin’s City Centre. The article analyses the placement of advertising signs, and categorizes of most technical and social problems that it entails. The relation between the occurrence of outdoor advertising and the increase in anti-social behaviour in commercialised space, raised in the article, could be a very important topic for further research. The results of the conducted study reveal that the installation of advertising billboards irreversibly damages the facades of buildings, which is especially visible when the advertisements are removed. The article complements the study on outdoor advertising, drawing attention to one of its little-discussed, technical aspects. Consequently, it may serve as a starting point for further discussion on the subject.

Aim. This research aims to confirm that transdisciplinary projects can be very adequate to develop content and competencies traditionally assigned to Sciences and Arts in higher education, exploring the possibilities of outdoor education. Methods. The subjects of the study were one hundred alumni of two different courses “Natural Sciences for Teachers” and “Literary Training for Teachers” at a Spanish university. An educational experience around the phenomenon of scientific travelers was developed, focusing on Charles Darwin and Alexander von Humboldt and the literary genres of travel journals and letters. The main activity contained three phases, including indoor and outdoor education, in which both subjects tackled the same 6 educational topics from a different perspective. After different individual and group activities around those topics, alumni from both subjects merged at a natural environment where a scientific-literary tour took place. At the end of the academic year, an assessment questionnaire with open and closed questions was filled out by all participants. Results and conclusion. After the analysis of all the collected data, we can deduce that the experience was a success. The students appreciated aspects like the setting in which the experience took place, the possibility of interacting with alumni from different courses and the integration of Sciences and Arts. Thus, we have demonstrated that the same activities can be implemented in prototypical subjects of Sciences and Arts and that outdoor education is an ideal resource to achieve a holistic pedagogy engaging the sensory and emotional facets of learning.
