Opis:
Irreversibility analysis was investigated by using refrigerants R22, R407A, and R407C in window type air conditioner system. The experimental study was conducted at various ambient temperatures and air volumetric flow rates to determine the parameters that cause the energy degradation of the system. The irreversibility was compared with respect to volumetric flow rates of the air passing through evaporator (14.15, 12.74, and 10.618 m3 /min) and different ambient temperatures (ranging from 28°C to 39°C dry bulb. Results show that the total irreversibility increases with refrigerant mass flow rate and ambient temperature for the three refrigerants. Additionally, R22 shows the highest irreversibility in low ambient temperature (28°C to 30°C) while R407A shows the lowest one with ambient temperature ranging from 30°C to 36°C. Both tested refrigerants are very good replacement for R22 in terms of irreversibility and energy analysis and these results are more remarkable with R407A.

Opis:
The possible reconstruction of ancient sedimentary environments on the basis of heavy-minerals assemblages is presented by means of discriminant lithogeodynamic diagrams that compare modern and ancient sedimentary environments. This is exemplified by Mesozoic-Cenozoic deposits recovered from ODP cores obtained from the Philippine and Japan Seas, the Japan Trench and the North Atlantic, as well as by deposits from folded areas onshore. On the basis of the comparative analysis, it can be deduced that the main tendencies in mineral assemblages of modern deposits that depend on the structural-tectonic conditions, are fairly well preserved in Cenozoic deposits (including the deposits recovered by ODP drilling). On the other hand, the environmental reconstruction of folded and faulted pre-Cenozoic continental areas on the basis of their heavy-mineral assemblages, by comparing them with supposed modern analogs, is not always possible with much certainty. The main reasons may be either a considerable change in the composition of the initial (primary) mineral assemblages as a result of intralayer solution or the absence, at the time of deposition, of geodynamic environments that closely resembled modern ones.

Opis:
The article assesses the applicability of new refrigerants, being possible substitution for Freon 22, in marine refrigeration and air-conditioning systems. A collection of technical data on the physical properties of the new refrigerants is presented. Suggestions are made about certain energetic and ecological profits which can be gained when using energetically efficient refrigerants with low GWP values. The results of the TEWI comparison analysis for selected refrigerants are also included.
