    One of the most important factors in the offer for tool manufacture is the total manufacturing cost. Although the total manufacturing costs can be rather precisely determined by the cost analysis, this approach is not well applicable in tool-making due to cost and, particularly, time demand. Therefore, the authors propose a new approach to prediction of total manufacturing costs, which is based on case based-reasoning method and imitates the human expert. The system first abstracts from CAD-models the geometrical features, and then it calculates the similarities between the source cases and target case. The most similar cases are used for preparation of prediction by genetic programming. The genetic programming method provides the model connecting the individual geometrical features with the costs searched for. Regarding to the connections between geometrical features and tool cost of source cases the formula for calculation of tool cost of target case is being made. The experimental results show that the quality of predictions made by the intelligent system is comparable to the quality assured by the experienced expert.

    Opis:
    The aim of the article is to present a proposal and discuss the production cost calculation procedures based on data collected during manufacturing process, according to standard SPC control chart evaluation. It is applied as a tool to support the process of continuous improvement of the manufacturing process and improve profitability by reducing the cost of production. Research methodology - the study uses the results of a literature review on the issue of cost analysis and their modeling. Key elements are the main cost components, but also those that are considered less important and may be overall decisive. Application of Statistical Process Control - as a method of data collection for cost modeling to improve overall cost structure is proposed. Originality/value - the considerations presented in the study may be the basis for determining the key components of the cost of production. The proposed simulation model allows for the determination of the main quality cost factors. This, in turn, should allow to define the main directions of searching for the optimization of the product cost in order to achieve the expected level of cost and quality.

    W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono sposoby obniżania kosztów spawania oraz charakterystykę poszczególnych kosztów związanych ze spawaniem. Dodatkowo opisano sposoby obliczania kosztów spawania oraz wpływ poszczególnych czynników na te koszty. Najważniejszym aspektem w problematyce oszczędności kosztów jest konieczność kompleksowego spojrzenia na produkcję z uwzględnieniem wszystkich etapów wytwarzania konstrukcji i wyrobów spawanych.
    This article outlines ways to reduce the cost of welding and the characteristics of the individual costs associated with welding. In addition, the methods of calculation of welding costs and the influence of individual factors on these costs are presented. The most important aspect in the cost savings issue is the need for a comprehensive look at production, taking into account all stages of manufacturing welded constructions and products.

    The article presents a new algorithm that enables the allocation of the optimal scheduling of the production orders in the two-machine system based on the minimum cost of order delays. The formulated algorithm uses the method of branch and bounds and it is a particular generalisation of the algorithm enabling for the determination of the sequence of the production orders with the minimal sum of the delays. In order to illustrate the proposed algorithm in the best way, the article contains examples accompanied by the graphical trees of solutions. The research analysing the utility of the said algorithm was conducted. The achieved results proved the usefulness of the proposed algorithm when applied to scheduling of orders. The formulated algorithm was implemented in the Matlab programme. In addition, the studies for different sets of production orders were conducted.

    The objective of the paper was to determine operating costs of the machinery park in organic farms. Moreover, the level of farms equipment with farm machines and devices was determined and the use of their manufacturing capacities was assessed. The scope of the study covered the research in 50 certified organic farms located in the south Poland in Małopolskie, Podkarpackie and Świętokrzyskie voivodeships. The study was carried out within the development subsidy no NR12-0165-10 "Innovative impact of technology and IT support of management on efficiency of production in organic farms". Average area of AL is 12.48 ha. Operating costs of the machinery park were 30 993 PLN·farm-1 which annually per one hectare of AL generates the value of PLN 3 369. Amortization constituted the highest participation in total costs, which was as much as 65.7% and energy carriers related to consumption on production of diesel oil, leaded petrol and electric energy. The highest use of manufacturing capacities of the machinery park of organic farms was reported in case of a manure spreader, presses and windrow collectors. In case of spreaders, 19 years are necessary for their total amortization, and in case of presses and windrow collectors – 20 and 21 years. In the researched organic farms, average annual rate of use of possible manufacturing capacities of the majority of machines was only 0.4-1.3%. It forces to lengthen the operating periods, which constitutes the main brake on progress.
    Celem pracy było określenie kosztów eksploatacji parku maszynowego w gospodarstwach ekologicznych. Określono również poziom wyposażenia gospodarstw w maszyny i urządzenia rolnicze oraz dokonano oceny wykorzystania ich zdolności produkcyjnych. Zakresem pracy objęto badania przeprowadzone w 50 gospodarstwach ekologicznych z certyfikatem położonych w Polsce południowej, w województwach: małopolskim, podkarpackim i świętokrzyskim. Pracę wykonano w ramach grantu rozwojowego nr NR 12-0165-10 „Innowacyjne oddziaływanie techniki i technologii oraz informatycznego wspomagania zarządzania na efektywność produkcji w gospodarstwach ekologicznych”. Średnia powierzchnia UR to 12,48 ha. Koszty eksploatacji parku maszynowego wynosiły rocznie 30 993 PLN·gosp.-1, co w przeliczeniu na hektar UR daje wartość 3 369 PLN. Największy udział w kosztach całkowitych, bo aż 65,7% stanowiła amortyzacja, a drugie miejsce (19,7%) zajmują nośniki energii związane ze zużyciem na produkcję oleju napędowego, etyliny i energii elektrycznej. Największe wykorzystanie zdolności produkcyjnych parku maszynowego gospodarstw ekologicznych odnotowano w przypadku roztrząsaczy obornika, pras oraz zbieraczy pokosów. W przypadku roztrząsaczy na całkowite ich zamortyzowanie potrzeba 19 lat, natomiast w przypadku pras i zbieraczy pokosów 20 i 21 lat. W badanych gospodarstwach ekologicznych średnio roczne tempo wykorzystania potencjalnych zdolności produkcyjnych większości maszyn wynosi tylko 0,4-1,3%. Zmusza to do wydłużania okresów eksploatacji, co stanowi główny hamulec postępu.

    Opis:
    The paper presents the problem of the optimization of the length of the series and production batch, and thus the optimal frequency of production changeovers, taking into account the total cost approach and the use of the simulation method. The author has developed a model which, with the given parameters (costs and time of production changeover, costs of maintaining stocks of finished products and storage, value of manufactured products, sales variability and predictability), allows to calculate the economic effects of determining the length of a series and a production batch. In the author's opinion, the simulation method (at least in some cases) may be more appropriate in solving the problem of determining the optimal length of a series or production batch than the use of mathematical formulas. The calculations also took into account the impact of series and batch optimization on the company's profitability in order to assess the significance of this problem for financial results. The calculations were performed for two sample products and for two probability distributions — Gauss and Gamma. The results of the research show that the optimization of the production series may be important from the point of view of economic efficiency, that mathematical formulas may be less suitable for calculating the optimal production series than computer simulation, and that, in the case of significant variability of the sales level, in addition to the costs of changing production and maintaining inventories, lost sales costs should also be taken into account.
    W artykule przedstawiono problematykę optymalizacji długości serii i partii produkcyjnej, a więc i optymalnej częstotliwości przezbrojenia produkcji przy uwzględnieniu podejścia całkowitokosztowego i zastosowaniu metody symulacji. Autor opracował model, który przy zadanych parametrach (koszty i czas przestawienia produkcji, koszty utrzymania zapasów wyrobów gotowych i magazynowania, wartość produkowanych wyrobów, zmienność i przewidywalność sprzedaży) pozwala na obliczenie skutków ekonomicznych ustalenia długości serii i partii produkcyjnej. W opinii autora metoda symulacji (przynajmniej w niektórych przypadkach) w rozwiązywaniu problemu ustalenia optymalnej długości serii lub partii produkcyjnej może być właściwsza niż zastosowanie formuł matematycznych. W obliczeniach uwzględniono również wpływ optymalizacji serii i partii produkcyjnej na rentowność przedsiębiorstwa, aby ocenić istotność tego problemu dla wyników finansowych. Obliczenia zostały przeprowadzone dla dwóch przykładowych produktów i dla dwóch rozkładów prawdopodobieństwa — Gaussa i Gamma. Wyniki badań wskazują, że optymalizacja serii produkcyjnej może mieć istotne znaczenie z punktu widzenia efektywności ekonomicznej, że formuły matematyczne mogą być mniej odpowiednie do obliczania optymalnej serii produkcyjnej niż symulacja komputerowa oraz że w przypadku występowania znaczącej zmienności poziomu sprzedaży, oprócz kosztów przestawienia produkcji i utrzymania zapasów, powinno się uwzględniać także koszty utraconej sprzedaży.

    The aim of this research is to propose particular measures aimed at streamlining costs in terms of operations in a selected company. A specific proposal is based on the concept related to using services of the transport databank. As at least two out of five major carriers of the investigated company resell shipments to other carriers on such portals, the company could reduce the transport costs by entering shipments into the transport databank on its own. One out of three selected providers will be chosen using multi-criteria evaluation methods, specifically, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (hereinafter referred to as AHP) and the Base-criterion method. Determination of the weights of criteria will be carried out using the Saaty method of quantitative pair wise comparison and the Fuller pair wise comparison method. In this paper, the presented methods are applied for the example of a specific company specialized in the manufacture of metal storage racks and steel structures. In the Czech Republic, the company employs 65 employees in production, storage and administration. Based on the analytical evaluation of the current situation of the company, relevant measures will be proposed with a required effect on the effectiveness of such an enterprise.
