Opis:
The engine-compressors GMVH types are used in the national gas transmission system in Poland. There is a danger of scuffing of the working components of the engine-compressor particular pistons and cylinders during the process of their exploitation. The growth of resistance in motion parts of the machine is the main symptom of the scuffing. In the cinematic system of the engine-compressor where the engine and compressor are fully mechanically integrated it is impossible to assess the power of mechanical friction without stopping the machine. But if the engine-compressor is equipped with a cylinder pressure measuring system it is possible to determine the indicated power of all compressor and engine cylinders and assess the friction losses as a difference between the sum of the engine 's cylinder s indicated power and the sum of the compressor's cylinders indicated power. In the differential measurements of absolute values measuring errors are accumulated so considerable uncertainty of the measured parameter is expected. The accuracy of the friction power losses assessment method is not sufficient for research purposes. However, despite the expected significant errors, assessed parameters trends observation should allow to detect ofrapid changes of machine technical condition caused by piton scuffing. To ensure the sense of this method a precise measurements and in particular the error consistency of indicated pressure assessment of all cylinders in long time period are necessary. The experience from engine-compressors monitoring and diagnostic system services, the main sources of errors and methods for their minimization are described in the paper.

The paper presents the results of ceramic products testing for water absorption, water absorption under vacuum, specific density, and pore size and volume distributions by mercury intrusion porosimetry. The test results were compared against the Fc frost resistance number. It was found that there is no simple correlation between selected physical properties and Fc factor.

TDC position influence on MIP errors
Opis:
The paper presents the results of comparative analysis of influence of different methods of TDC determination for the calculation errors of mean indicated pressure (MP). Lemag method based on zero point of first order derivative, used in PREMET pressure analyzers, was compared to the method based on a polynomial model of the compression process. Comparisons were made on the operating measurement data obtained on the low speed marine engine RTA96C which forms the main propulsion of the vessel and the medium speed engine MAN L28/32A. Measurements were made with onboard combustion PREMET analyzer. It was found that the method based on zero point of first order derivative can give the deviations of position of TDC in excess of 2°CA which is caused by disturbances associated with the measurement of pressure and interference associated with the generation of the angular axis. These errors are related to the accuracy of the methods of determining of the first derivative and the availability of a sufficient range of pure compression after TDC. The best results of determining the TDC position was obtained from the original method based on a polynomial model of the compression process. It should be emphasized that the proposed method enables individual adjustment of TDC for each cylinder and can be used even when the combustion begins before TDC. The conducted research proved the existence of significant influence of indicator graph TDC location on the mean indicated pressure calculation errors.

Opis:
This paper presents the results of extensive research work on the open porosity and gas permeability of cement pastes. Tests were conducted on cement pastes with different water/cement ratios and types of cement. The three most popular cements in Poland from the CEM I, CEM II and CEM III groups were tested after the pastes had been cured for 90 days in laboratory conditions. The scope of experiments included the assessment of open porosity determined using three different methods: comparing the bulk and specific densities, mercury intrusion porosimetry and saturating the material with water. In addition, this article contains an analysis of the porosity characteristics based on the distributions produced by porosimetry examinations. Gas permeability was determined using the modified RILEM-Cembureau laboratory method. The results of the completed test allowed a quantitative determination to be made of the impact of water-cement ratio and type of cement used on open porosity assessed by various methods, and the influence of these parameters on the gas permeability of the paste. The quantitative changes in the content of capillary pores and meso-pores in the cement pastes analysed are also presented.
