Professors’ Garden of the Jagiellonian University
Collegium Nowodworski
German Bursa (Dormitory)
city moat from the times of Leszek the Black - Opis:
- In the western part of the Professors’ Garden of the Jagiellonian University, traces of a moat were discovered that could be related to the line of Cracow’s oldest fortifications, built during the reign of Leszek the Black – 1285–1286. The remains of a corner of a later wooden building, with preserved oak foundations (the trees were cut down in 1490 or 1491) and traces of repair (from 1502–1503), were preserved in the covering rubble and can be identified as the remains of the German Bursa (Dormitory) (after 1487–1523).
