Opis:
The significance of scientific journals in the dissemination and creation of science cannot be overestimated. For over 350 years, journals have been a crucial platform for the prompt publication of research findings and the exchange of scientific ideas among research centres worldwide. Journals serve not only to disseminate scientific achievements but also to provide researchers with the substantive base for new discoveries and achievements. The aim of this article is to examine the present state and future potential of regional social science journals in terms of presenting and disseminating research findings, as well as promoting international collaboration. The objective is to achieve this through a comprehensive analysis of the Journal of Pedagogy, Innovation and New Technologies, which has been a source of daily concerns, problems, and satisfaction for us for almost a decade. The analysis method employed involves examining texts published in IJPINT and the documents available to the editors. The article addresses the following questions: (1) In what circumstances was the journal created and what priorities determined its formula and organizational solutions? (2) What are your publication achievements in terms of quantity and quality? (3) What has hindered and what has supported the work of the journal and the implementation of its mission? The purpose of this position paper is to stimulate further discussion on the condition of social science journals and the type of government support they receive.

The article is devoted to reception of Austrian literature before the Second World War in Wiadomości Literackie (Literary News). It was the most popular letter, whose aim was to educate society, and popularize foreign literature and culture. The literature that was most often promoted was French literature, but also German-speaking authors (cited in the article) were discussed. Austrian literature was not treated as distinct from German literature during that time but nontheless, the articles presents artists, of Austrian origin: Joseph Roth, Stefan Zweig, Rainer Maria Rilke, Hugo von Hofmannsthal, Arthur Schnitzler, Odon von Horváth, Franz Werfel and others. The article examines interviews with these writers as well as reviews their books and other texts which appeared in Wiadomości Literackie.

The article presents an outline of the 25-year history of the journal “Reports on Geodesy and Geoinformatics”. The source of information was mainly the journal issues themselves. Attention was drawn to changes that the journal underwent over a quarter of a century and its relationship with the Institute of Geodesy and Geodetic Astronomy and later the Department of Geodesy and Geodetic Astronomy. Many issues were dedicated to materials from Polish conferences - those organised by the Institute and the international ones attended by the employees of the Institute, which was indicated in the section on the history of the journal.The second part of the article concerns the current activity and importance of the journal. Attention was paid to visibility of “Reports on Geodesy and Geoinformatics” in the domestic and foreign databases. Polish databases where the journal is indexed have been identified and briefly described. A separate issue is the evaluation of the journal, which forms a measure of its popularity among consumers. For this purpose, various parameters and biometrics indicators are used. The article used the Web of Science, Google Scholar and the Ministerial List databases for the assessment of the journal.

Parki miejskie stanowią jeden z najstarszych i ciągle rozwijanych elementów systemu terenów zieleni w miastach. Ich typy, funkcje i znaczenie charakteryzuje zmienność w czasie. Niezmiennie pozostaje jednak zainteresowanie parkami zarówno ze strony mieszkańców miast, jak i osób profesjonalnie zajmujących się projektowaniem i utrzymaniem parków. Badania prowadzone przez naukowców powinny wspomagać identyfikację współczesnych potrzeb, zgłaszanych przez użytkowników parków, jak i odpowiadać na pytania dotyczące ich dalszego rozwoju, w tym pożądanych przekształceń. Celem artykułu jest identyfikacja tematyki i zakresu badań, podejmowanych w związku z kondycją i znaczeniem parków w ostatnim dwudziestoleciu. Badaniami objęto zarówno naukowe oraz popularnonaukowe, których tematyka dotyczyła szeroko rozumianego kształtowania parków miejskich. Badania oparto na zawartości Bazy Nauki Ceon (http://bibliotekanauki.ceon.pl), obejmującej m.in. bazy AGRO, BazTech, BazEkon, CEJSH, DML-PL oraz PSJD. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań stwierdzono, że: - wśród podejmowanych zagadnień dominują „opisy parków”; mają one charakter informacyjny, czyli charakteryzują konkretny park lub parki, albo problemowy, czyli przedstawiają ogólniejsze zagadnienie, w którym opisywany park stanowi punkt odniesienia lub przykład; - pozostałe zagadnienia, liczne i różnorodne, stanowią przedmiot niewielkich grup artykułów albo wręcz artykułów pojedynczych; trudno zatem mówić tu o jakichkolwiek tendencjach w problematyce.

The Geological Quarterly has come a long way since the first is sue was published in 1957 under the Polish title Kwartalnik Geologiczny. From a local bulletin publishing studies of the Pol ish Geological Institute it has became an international journal, in dexed since 2003 by the Institute for Scientific Informa tion. The impact factor for 2006 was 0.846, a considerable increase (IF2005 - 0.325) representing upgrading in the "Geology" category to 22nd position among 36 journals ranked. Despite the growing significance of regional geoscientific journals, the Geological Quarterly will face new challenges in coming years due to competition from other periodicals, including those from Central and Eastern Europe. The global tendency of limiting the paper is sues of journals in favour of electronic versions will enforce changes inediting and distribution. Better rankings of the journal lead to a growing submission rate, associated with increased risk of dealing with manuscripts including duplicated material.

The paper formulates several critical observations about the official (established by Polish legal statutes) rules of evaluation scientific publications. These rules are based on so-called parameterization, that is, ascription of points to papers and books published by scientists. The criticism is made from the point of view of the humanities and social sciences, although some assertions have a more general character. Although the author shares the opinion that evaluation of science is necessary, he points out several disadvantages of parameterization. One of them consists in the fact that the ascription of points to publications uses a relatively weak scale, that is, based on the ordering relation. This feature essentially limits the range of mathematical operations admissible to results of measuring in such a way. This situation results in conventional character of parameterization, contrary to expectations that it successfully display the real value of scientific achievements. The paper illustrates this problem by concrete examples as well as shows that parameterization makes possible pathological cases stemming from political and world-view preferences.

The main aim of this work is to provide insight into a bibliometric analysis of Data Journals and Data Papers in terms of research areas, disciplines, publication year and country.In particular, we calculated many bibliometric indicators, especially: the number of publications and citations. Furthermore, this work also investigated the top 20 journals in which scientists published the largest number of Data Papers. It was found that the first Data Paper in Medical and Health Science was published in 2006. Our results indicate that about 64% of Data Papers are cited and about 30% of Data Papers are articles that have international co-authors. We also found that a significant number of Data Papers were published in top quartile (Q1) Open Access journals. Furthermore, most Data Papers were published in Multidisciplinary Sciences, followed by Biological Sciences, Earth and related Environmental Sciences as well as Computer and Information Sciences. Our analyses show that the largest number of Data Papers were published in journals with an Impact Factor ranging from 5 to 6. Additionally, the largest number of Data Papers were published in the USA, China, the United Kingdom, Italy andFrance. From the point of view of scientists, this work is needed because scientists can check information about journals in which they may publish research data. Moreover, they can find Data Journals with a high Impact Factor and MEiN points. This analysis is also interesting because scientists/publishers can compare the disciplines and countries in which researchers have published the greatest number of Data Papers. Finally, it is worth noting that this work gives insights into the various bibliometric indicators related to citations and the number of publications. This information can be useful for people associated with bibliometric analyses.

This paper aims to profile Brazilian Information Science journals and compare their quality and impact indicators, be these traditional or altmetrics indicators. It is an exploratory and descriptive research, with quantitative analysis of 23 journals, analysed in accordance with their Qualis (2013-6) assessment, their h and g indices from Google Scholar Metrics and their altmetrics data from Facebook for the period 2011 to 2016. The Qualis assessment was obtained from the Sucupira Platform, the indices from Harzing’s Publish or Perish, and the altmetrics through the Facebook Application Programming Interface (API). The results show that the journals were created between 1972 and 2011, that they are edited by universities and that the most adopted frequency of publication is biannual (52%), followed by quarterly (39%). Regarding the national quality indicator Qualis, 73% of the journals fall within the higher stratum of B1 to A1. Regarding impact, 30.4% of the journals have an h-index greater than 10, and only 13% have a g-index greater than 20. Regarding their altmetrics, 34.7% have a Facebook altmetric value greater than 1,000 interactions. It can be concluded that the position of the journals vary if applied to the Qualis assessment system, the h and g indices and Facebook altmetrics. The journal that displays the greatest coincidence between the national index, and those of Google Scholar Metrics and the Facebook altmetrics was Encontros Bibli which is classed as Qualis A2, h-index 11 and g-index 17, and 2,261 interactions on Facebook.

The article describes the Lviv-based journal "Nafta", which was published between 1893 and 1914. The journal was published as a monthly or biweekly and its editorial board was composed of professors of Lviv universities and Galician economic activists. "Nafta" was not the first journal devoted to the issues of the oil industry - methods of its extraction, economic questions on this branch of the economy, information on the functioning of the oil industry in other countries or the actions of national and state authorities towards this industry. Such journals had already been published earlier in Gorlice and Krosno and, after the publication of "Nafta" began, also in Jasło (Pawłowski 1995: 366). However, these journals were ephemera, and the Lviv-based "Nafta", as the long-standing organ of the National Petroleum Society and earlier the Society of Petroleum Technicians, was published until the end of July 1914.

The aim of this study was to obtain information on pre-service teachers’ experiences and viewpoints on science journals and journal writing. The current study utilized a qualitative research method, namely phenomenography. The data were collected by conducting face to face semi-structured interviews. The analysis of the verbatim transcripts of pre-service teachers’ interviews was performed with the use of the phenomenographic method. The findings are presented as themes, subthemes and categories. The participants in the study commented on the content of science journals, usefulness of journal writing in science courses and using science journals in primary education based on their observations during the practical activities at schools.

Objectives: In the interwar period, educational magazines played a huge role in popularizing the latest concepts and didactic solutions. In the years 1918-1939, several titles were addressed to pre-school educators. In this group, "Preschool Education" can be considered as one of the most important magazines. His main tasks included improving teachers' professional competences and disseminating the achievements of Polish and world pedagogical thought. On the pages of the magazine, much attention was paid to the issue of mathematical education of a small child. These publications were substantive support for pre-school educators at the time. Material and methods: analysis of source texts Results: On the pages of the "Preschool Education" (1925-1939) magazine, many articles can be found in the field of mathematical education of a small child, constituting significant substantive support for pre-school educators in the interwar period. Conclusions: The text is a short presentation of articles in the field of mathematics education published in the journal "Preschool Education" (1925-1939).

Taking into account the increasing need of intelligent micro-bearing with memory, this paper presents the optimization, simulation and practical application of operating parameters(load carrying capacity, friction forces, friction coefficient, wear), simulation for hydrodynamic HDD micro-bearing with curvilinear nano-grooved journal profile. One of the reason of such journal profile is that this journal profile contributes to the variation (an increase or decrease) the memory capacity of HDD drive operating on hydrodynamic micro-bearings. Such properties are very important and required in HDD micro-bearings. A general theory of materials with memory is the theory developed by Noll and Koleman. The simple solid body and liquid theory presented in this paper is based on the assumption that stress is defined by a whole deformation history. The changes of micro-bearing superficial surfaces presented in this paper are described by the process of changes of mass of a body system defined by non-classical intelligent oil and bearing material properties. Scientific problems considered in the paper are focused on comparisons and practical applications of tribological processes, which occur during fluid flow around cells lubrication on the nano-surfaces in bio-bearings as well as surfaces of micro-bearings used in micro-mechanisms. Up to now, the dynamic behaviour of HDD spindle system with fluid micro-bearings was considered by Jang at al. [7]. They simulated an increase in the memory capacity by increase in the bearing width and by application herringbone or spiral grooves on the sleeve and journal surfaces of HDD micro-bearings. After proposal contained in this project it is additionally possible to make capacity memory simulations by the various shapes of micro-bearing journal application.

Professional and scholarly periodicals aimed at library professionals undoubtedly make a significant contribution to the development of librarianship and the evolution of book science. Therefore, the purpose of the article was to outline a panorama of the journalism of the library community in the Czech lands in the 1st half of the 20th century. The reasons for the creation of individual titles, their creators, structure and other formal elements were presented. The subject matter of four professional periodicals was also addressed: "Českeho knihovnictví", "Kniha", "Knih a knihoven" and "Časopis Československých Knihovniků" and one scientific journal - "Slovanská Knihověda".
