Research background: Today's world is torn between extreme conservatism and duality, in opposition, trying to break the classical framework of freedom in the movement of people. In the context of complex global relations, this impulse, especially related to the travels for tourism purposes, raises new issues concerning the safety and security. The tourism industry has a priority for the economic development of many countries in the world and is a large source of export earnings and, at the same time, an important factor in the balance of payments of a significant part of the national economies in the world. The growing importance of the tourism industry, however, puts tourist destinations worldwide at the forefront of new challenges, one of which is terrorism. In this environment, new relationships are emerging and this reflects on the development strategies, as well as on the financial outcomes of tourism industry which are also largely affected. Purpose of the article: Respecting the new realities, the study explores the link between the risk of terrorism and the revenues from international tourism. Its main purpose is to investigate the impact of terrorism on the financial revenues from tourism in the European countries and the United States. The research is deter-mined by the perception that the financial flows from the international tourism are the quantitative manifestation of the hidden effects of the terrorism. Methods: The research method includes a regression cross-section analysis and Granger Causality test. The survey is panel and includes 37 countries from Europe tourism region and the United States from Americas' tourism region (according UNWTO) for the period 2012?2017. Findings & Value added: In conclusion, the effects of terrorism on the studied regions have been summarized, establishing dependence between terrorism and tourism, which illustrates a specific creative-destructive reflections of terrorism on tourism with regions particularities.

Subject and purpose of work: Tourism was the fastest growing industry until the outbreak of Covid-2019. Nevertheless, there are a few studies on how the industry interacts with the rest of economies within a comprehensive analytical framework. The main concern of this study is how international and interregional tourism interacts with national economic development and economic structural change. Tourism and economic growth are investigated in a multi-regional small open economy which is perfectly competitive. Materials and methods: National economy consists of multiple regions and each region has three sectors: industry, service, and housing. Production side is the same as in the neoclassical growth theory. Households move freely between regions, equalizing utility level between regions by selecting housing, goods, tourism, and saving. A region’s amenity is endogenously related to the region’s population. Results: We explicitly solve the dynamics of the multi-regional economy. The system has a unique stable equilibrium point. Conclusions: We simulate the motion of the model and examine the effects of changes in the rate of interest, foreigners’ preference for visiting a region, a region ‘s total productivity of the service sector, domestic consumers’ preference for visiting a region, as well as the propensity to save, the propensity to consume regional services and housing

According to UNWTO standards, tourism takes the forms of domestic and international tourism. International tourism is subdivided into inbound and outbound tourism. The statistics of inbound tourism comprises two basic sections: statistics of tourist arrivals and statistics of tourism receipts. The inbound tourism in Poland and Ukraine is researched in this article. It is interesting to analyze the inbound tourism in the neighbouring countries, i.e. Poland and Ukraine, taking into account the “split in time” similarities in the development of the tourism market in these countries, their place in the world tourist flows, as well as attempts of Ukraine to repeat Poland’s experience in its integration into the EU. The aim of this paper is to conduct a comparative analysis of inbound tourist flows in Ukraine and Poland, as well as to reveal the factors influencing tourist arrivals, receipts and profitability as the ratio of the last two. The number and structure of tourist arrivals to Poland and Ukraine in 2000–2016 are analyzed. It was assumed that tourists’ exchange between neighbouring countries probably depends on the length of common land border. To test this assumption, the criterion χ² was used, which is also called the criterion of independence, consistency and homogeneity. The receipts from inbound tourism in above-mentioned countries during the same period of time are estimated. By applying the Consumer Price Index (CPI), the tourism receipts are recalculated for the prices of 2000. The profitability of inbound tourism in Poland and Ukraine in 2013 and 2016 is calculated. The factors influencing tourism receipts and profitability of inbound tourism are described.

This paper is based on the analysis of 261 video and word posts collected from four popular social media sites on which Chinese tourists shared their consumption-related experiences during and after the trip. It investigates Chinese international tourists’ diverse presentations of self to a broad audience online through explaining their shopping experiences and product reviews. Tourists are expected to balance multiple identities carefully when they project themselves online as consumers—on the one hand, they present themselves as global consumers and trendsetters who are strategic and savvy; while on the other hand, they still need to preserve and even emphasize their national identity as Chinese patriots. Providing the much-lacking qualitative insight, this study enhances our understanding of international tourists and their consumption behaviors, the construction and presentation of a digital self, and how globalization operates at the micro-level.

Мета роботи – дослідити стан розвитку організаційної культури суб’єктів туристичного бізнесу для подальшої розробки механізму розвитку організаційно-культурних ресурсів міжнародного туристичного бізнесу. Дизайн/Метод/Підхід дослідження. Використано метод аналізу при досліджені стану розвитку ринку туристичного бізнесу, метод анкетування – для оцінки стану розвитку організаційної культури туристичного бізнесу Дніпропетровської області, метод логічного узагальнення  – для формування висновків за результатами анкетування. Результати дослідження. Проаналізовано сучасний ринок туристичних послуг та виявлено основні тренди розвитку. Проілюстровано тенденцію подальшого розвитку галузі, визначено активне зростання кількості суб’єктів розміщення, зокрема готельних мереж. Складено рейтинг готельних брендів, де зазначене порівняння національних та міжнародних готельних брендів з точки зору кількості представлених на туристичному ринку об’єктів розміщення. Наведене авторське визначення організаційно-культурних ресурсів міжнародного туристичного бізнесу. Визначені фактори конкурентоспроможності суб’єктів туристичного бізнесу, серед яких є організаційна культура в числі організаційно-культурних ресурсів. Представлено експрес-алгоритм оцінки стану розвитку організаційної культури суб’єкта туристичного бізнесу. Результати дослідження графічно ілюструють оцінки стану розвитку організаційної культури суб’єктів туристичного бізнесу Дніпропетровської області. Практичне значення дослідження. Результати дослідження будуть використані при подальшому формуванні механізму розвитку організаційно-культурних ресурсів туристичного бізнесу. Запропонований експрес-алгоритм та анкета можуть бути використані для оцінки стану розвитку організаційної культури суб’єктів різних видів бізнесу. Оригінальність/Цінність/Наукова новизна дослідження. Набули подальшого розвитку науково-теоретичні засади формування туристичного бізнесу в Україні через оцінку стану розвитку організаційної культури, які на відміну від існуючих, ґрунтуються на результатах анкетування суб’єктів туристичної інфраструктури, що дозволяє виокремити основні складові системи управління конкурентоздатністю шляхом оцінки ключових показників системи менеджменту в частині розвитку організаційно-культурних ресурсів. Обмеження дослідження/Перспективи подальших досліджень. Результати дослідження можуть бути закладені в основу механізму розвитку організаційно-культурних ресурсів міжнародного туристичного бізнесу. Тип статті – емпірична.
Цель работы – исследовать состояние развития организационной культуры субъектов туристического бизнеса для дальнейшей разработки механизма развития организационно-культурных ресурсов международного туристического бизнеса. Дизайн/Метод/Подход исследования. Использован метод анализа при исследовании состояния развития рынка туристического бизнеса, метод анкетирования – для оценки состояния развития организационной культуры туристического бизнеса Днепропетровской области, метод логического обобщения – для формирования выводов по результатам анкетирования. Результаты исследования. Проанализировано современное рынок туристических услуг и выявлены основные тренды развития. Проиллюстрировано тенденцию дальнейшего развития отрасли, определены активный рост количества субъектов размещения, в том числе гостиничных сетей. Составлен рейтинг гостиничных брендов, где указано сравнения национальных и международных гостиничных брендов с точки зрения количества представленных на туристическом рынке объектов размещения. Приведенное авторское определение организационно-культурных ресурсов международного туристического бизнеса. Определены факторы конкурентоспособности субъектов туристического бизнеса, среди которых организационная культура в числе организационно-культурных ресурсов. Представлены экспресс-метод оценки состояния развития организационной культуры субъекта туристического бизнеса. Результаты исследования на графиках иллюстрируют оценку состояния развития организационной культуры субъектов туристического бизнеса Днепропетровской области. Практическое значение исследования. Результаты исследования будут использованы при дальнейшем формировании механизма развития организационно-культурных ресурсов туристического бизнеса. Предложенный экспресс-метод и анкета могут быть использованы для оценки состояния развития организационной культуры субъектов различных видов бизнеса. Оригинальность/Ценность/Научная новизна исследования. Получили дальнейшее развитие научно-теоретические основы формирования туристического бизнеса в Украине через оценку состояния развития организационной культуры, в отличие от существующих, основываются на результатах анкетирования субъектов туристической инфраструктуры, позволяющей выделить основные составляющие системы управления конкурентоспособностью путем оценки ключевых показателей системы менеджмента в части развития организационно-культурных ресурсов. Ограничение исследования/Перспективы дальнейших исследований. Результаты исследования могут быть заложены в основу механизма развития организационно-культурных ресурсов международного туристического бизнеса. Тип статьи – эмпирическая.
Purpose – to investigate the state of development of organizational culture of legal entities engaged in tourism business in order to further improve the mechanism of development of organizational and cultural resources involved in the international tourism business. Design/Method/Approach. The method of analysis has been applied when investigating the state of market development of tourism business; the questionnaire method ‒ when assessing the state of development of organizational culture of the tourism business in Dnipropetrovsk oblast; the method of logical generalization ‒ to draw conclusions based on the results of the survey. Findings. Author has analyzed current market of tourist services and revealed main trends in development. The trend of further development of the sector has been illustrated; active growth in the number of accommodation facilities has been identified, specifically hotel chains. The rating of hotel brands has been compiled, which compares national and international hotel brands in terms of the number of accommodation facilities available in the tourist market. The author has given the authentic definition of organizational and cultural resources in the business of international tourism. Competitiveness factors for the entities of tourism business have been determined, which include organizational culture among the organizational and cultural resources. An express-algorithm has been presented in order to evaluate the state of development of the organizational culture of a tourism business entity. The results of the study graphically illustrate the assessment of the state of development of the organizational culture by the tourism business entities in Dnipropetrovsk oblast. Practical implications. The research results will be applied in the further formation of the mechanism of development of organizational and cultural resources in tourism business. The proposed express-algorithm and the questionnaire could be used in order to estimate the state of development of organizational culture by enterprises in different businesses. Originality/Value. The scientific-theoretical provisions for the formation of tourism business in Ukraine have been further developed through the assessment of state of development of organizational culture, which, in contrast to existing ones, are based on the results of surveying the entities of tourism infrastructure, which makes it possible to identify the main components in the system of competitiveness management by assessing key performance indicators in the management system related to the development of organizational and cultural resources. Research limitations/Future research. The research results could create a basis of the mechanism for developing the organizational and cultural resources in international tourism business. Since its establishment in the 1965, the standard setting texts produced by ICOMOS have become the most reputed, influential and distributed documents concerning cultural heritage protection worldwide. An examination of all ICOMOS charters and recommendations makes clear the indispensable role of this organisation to disseminating best conservation, restoration and management practices during the last sixty years. These recommendations also show the persistence of ICOMOS in tackling the numerous pressures that challenge heritage preservation around the world. Tourism is undoubtedly one of the most important and global of these pressures due to its considerable influence at all levels of cultural heritage management and decision-making. This paper analyses the early pioneering role of ICOMOS to promote responsible tourism. It does so through an evaluation of its international cultural tourism charters from 1976, when the first was adopted, up to 2021, when the ICOMOS has adopted the ICOMOS Draft International Charter for Cultural Heritage Tourism (2021): Reinforcing cultural heritage protection and community resilience through responsible and sustainable tourism management for its adoption at the ICOMOS General Assembly in Bangkok. The long process for drafting and approving this Charter and as well as its new conceptual approaches show the emerging trends that affect cultural heritage globally and faciliate broader reflection on the future of standard setting texts on this area.
Od momentu powstania w 1965 roku teksty ustanawiające standardy opracowane przez ICOMOS stały się najbardziej renomowanymi, wpływowymi i rozpowszechnionymi dokumentami dotyczącymi ochrony dziedzictwa kulturowego na świecie. Analiza wszystkich kart i zaleceń ICOMOS uwidacznia niezastąpioną rolę tej organizacji w rozpowszechnianiu najlepszych praktyk konserwatorskich, restauratorskich i zarządczych w ciągu ostatnich sześćdziesięciu lat. Zalecenia te pokazują również wytrwałość ICOMOS w stawianiu czoła licznym nacisków, które stanowią wyzwanie dla ochrony dziedzictwa na całym świecie. Turystyka jest niewątpliwie jedną z najważniejszych i najbardziej globalnych z tych nacisków ze względu na jej znaczący wpływ na wszystkie obszary zarządzania dziedzictwem kulturowym i podejmowania decyzji. Niniejszy artykuł analizuje wczesną pionierską rolę ICOMOS w promowaniu odpowiedzialnej turystyki. Czyni to poprzez ocenę jego międzynarodowych kart turystyki kulturowej od 1976 r., kiedy przyjęto pierwszą, do 2021 r., kiedy ICOMOS przyjął projekt Międzynarodowej Karty Turystyki Dziedzictwa Kulturowego (2021): Wzmocnienie ochrony dziedzictwa kulturowego i odporności społeczności poprzez odpowiedzialne i zrównoważone zarządzanie turystyką w celu jej przyjęcia podczas Zgromadzenia Ogólnego ICOMOS w Bangkoku. Długi proces opracowywania i zatwierdzania tej Karty, jak również jej nowe koncepcyjne podejścia pokazują pojawiające się trendy, które wpływają na dziedzictwo kulturowe w skali globalnej i ułatwiają głębszą refleksję nad przyszłością tekstów ustanawiających standardy w tej dziedzinie.

Tourism management is a significant mean for realization of various political objectives, such as development of a given country’s image abroad, or a character and the zone of relations with other states. It is also a phenomenon of sizable and diversified contents. The tourism itself plays a significant role as one of the components of international economic relations. Currently, tourism and/or tourism management is a reason for numerous scientific studies. Tourism is continuously accompanied by such phenomena and notions as: migration of persons, transfer of money and capital, exchange of goods and services, currency exchange rates, international cooperation or balance of payments. The problems associated with foreign tourism occupies an important position in the scope of international economic relations. Purpose of the article is to analyze the significance of international cooperation in tourism, and identification of its basic forms, recognition of main entities of international tourist policy and their initiatives undertaken to the benefit of tourism development. The article is focused on cooperation of governmental organizations. The performed analysis proved that the significance of various form of international cooperation in tourism remain on the increase. Its scope and role in shaping contemporary tourism policy are expanding constantly.

The paper identifies selected determinants of attractiveness of international academic conferences as products on the contemporary international tourism market, especially on the business tourism market. To achieve this aim, methods of analysing the literature, reports, synthesis, along with passive and active observation were used. In addition, a direct survey using a research questionnaire via a website and addressed to participants on an Erasmus International Week in Kaunas was made. Some of the most important conditions of the attractiveness of the conference for participants, including transport and information accessibility as well as to the originality of the destination and the leisure program for participants, were indicated. Contemporary international academic conferences lasting a few days epitomize multiple products on tourism market. The article is empirical, but it also presents ideas for the development of conferences as attractive products in the contemporary economy of the European Union.

The article presents unpublished results of research conducted among fans at the 2014 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship (1618 respondents to a direct questionnaire survey). Its aim is to describe selected motives and barriers to attendance at international sports events. The analysis attempts to obtain information about the importance of particular factors and barriers for respondents, their relative importance and to derive a model from the correlation between these variables to explain the attendance of fans at international sports events.

The rapid post-millennial internationalisation of Japan’s tourism sector and the influx of international visitors have quickly increased visitor motivations’ heterogeneity, thereby posing challenges for management. Given the lack of prior research, we aimed to identify nature-based tourism (NBT) push-factor motivation domains of visitors in a Japanese national park and segment domestic and international visitors based on their motivations, demographics and trip profiles. Primary data collection of 137 responses took place in November 2019 through an on-site self-administered questionnaire. From 11 push-factor statements, the principal component analysis yielded a four-factor solution: ‘enjoying nature with family or friends’, ‘improving physical health’, ‘discovering and learning’ and ‘escaping’. In addition, t-tests revealed significant differences between domestic and international visitors in three out of the four motivation dimensions. Underlying visitor profiles could explain some such differences. Despite the differences, both international and domestic visitors share similar motivations regarding ‘improving physical health’. These findings hint at the complexity of monitoring heterogeneous visitor segments within Japanese NBT. Despite increasing international visitors, there has been a lack of the necessary infrastructure and facilities to accommodate them. Thus, this study’s implications might help diversify NBT management strategies to deal with current shortcomings in Japan’s tourism sector.

The present work is aimed at the analysis of gross and relative values of inbound tourism by countries of destination for the purpose of their classification. As a result of confronting total and specific (per 1 km of conventional radius of the country’s territory) numbers of international tourist arrivals with the median values for 100 countries of the world as of 2016, countries of destination were divided into four classes. Small countries of intensive inbound tourism are predominantly represented by tropical islands of the Caribbean Basin and Indian Ocean, as well as by the Mediterranean region. Over half of big countries of intensive inbound tourism are located in Europe and the Mediterranean destinations were the most often visited ones. Big countries of extensive inbound tourism show significant volume of inbound tourism in the first place due to their significant territories. Among these, there were Scandinavian destinations of Europe, Canada and Russia. The low intensity of their inbound tourism is explained by the unfavourable climate for human thermal-physiological sensations. Small countries of not-intensive inbound tourism had considerably less volume and intensity of tourism arrivals due to their small territories, unfavourable geographical conditions, but, what is most essential, also due to the poverty. In addition, cost indicator, that is receipts from inbound tourism per one arrival, was taken into account in the analysis. The factors that have influence over it were also disclosed.

Agroecotourism is becoming the most dynamical branch of the world tourist industry. The Republic of Belarus has inexhaustible potential for the development of agroecotourism. It promotes a steady development of rural regions, raises well-being of its inhabitants by attracting investments, creates modern social infrastructure and new work places, contributes to the achievement of social and cultural purposes. Agroecotourism is considered to be an important component of a successful realization of the ‘State Program for the Revival and Development of the Countryside in the Republic of Belarus for 2005-2010’. The problem is that the agrotouristic enterprises have not enough money to increase the scale of realization of basic concepts and models stipulated by the National Program. Maintaining and developing the natural and human potential of Belarus will require making the agroecotourism a profitable branch of the agrarian sector of economy.
