Opis:
Since many years the coordinates of the position can be obtained with the use of satellite navigation and augmentation systems, SNS and SBAS, respectively. All these systems are called GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems). The main task of the user segment is to transform the products delivered by the GNSS infrastructure into services that users are mainly interested in. That’s why GNSS receiver selection depends on user application. Nowadays several hundred different receivers provided by more than one hundred manufacturers are available on the world market. The review of the performance parameters of GNSS receivers accessible in 2014 and last three years is presented in this paper. Additionally the paper gives the reply to some important questions as: for how many applications the given model is destined, which is the percentage of the receivers designed for marine and navigation users, which equipment features of the receiver are the most important for given application, which satellite signals apart from GPS signals can be tracked in the receiver?
Współrzędne pozycji można otrzymać z użyciem nawigacji satelitarnej i systemów wspomagających, odpowiednio GNSS i SBAS.

Provision of uninterrupted and robust Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) services is essential task of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) as an enabling technology for numerous technology and socio-economic applications, a cornerstone of the modern civilisation, a public goods, and an essential component of a national infrastructure. GNSS resilience may be accomplished only with complete understanding of the causes of GNSS positioning performance disruptions and degradations, presented in a form of applications- and scenarios-related models. Here the application of change-point detection methods is proposed and demonstrated in a selected scenario of a fast-developing ionospheric storm’s impact on GNSS positioning performance, as a novel contribution to forecasting GNSS positioning performance model development and GNSS utilisation risk mitigation.

Currently (April 2016) uninterrupted information about a ship’s position can be obtained from specialized electronic position-fixing systems, in particular, Satellite Navigation Systems (SNSs) such as GPS and GLONASS and Satellite Based Augmentation Systems (SBASs) such as EGNOS or WAAS. The generic name given to all the above mentioned systems is Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). Many models, designed for the ship’s bridge and provided by about a dozen manufacturers, are available on the world market. In Europe, one of the most comprehensive sources of knowledge on the global GNSS market is a report published, on average, every 15 months by the European GNSS Agency GSA. Another receiver survey is published each year in the January number of the magazine “GPS World”. The detailed analysis of market report and receiver survey, possible use of EGNOS and Galileo in the maritime market, and different maritime applications of GNSS equipment are described in this paper.

Opis:
Presently a lot of countries carry out aviation tests of Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast (ADB-S). The on-board GPS receiver is used as a basic source of information on position and time for that system. According to the CNS/ATM plan, traditional radars using by ATC will be replaced for ADB-S in the near future. One the vital element of the system is Global Navigational Satellite System (GNSS). According to the project a research team is going to work out an aviation tracking system for control an air traffic and ground movement in the border area. Moreover, the team will examine the system in the areas of accuracy, range of tracking and reliability as well. The proposed system consists of three basic components: the positioning, airborne GNSS receivers, the transmission of data and the ground station. The research plan is carried out taking into account a variety of air operations, such as a takeoff, a route on a low height, approaching and landing. The idea of monitoring system for aircraft using satellite navigation systems is in line with the concept of the use of GNSS in aviation, both in Europe and worldwide.

In the work a method of latency measurement in software defined radio (SDR) is proposed and validated. The test setup uses customer grade GNSS modules as reference time sources and enables relative delay calculation between signals received directly and those bypassed through SDR platform. The method is hardware agnostic in a sense, that it does not involve any custom software or hardware modifications. Tests that compare reported carrier-to-noise ratio and positioning errors were performed to prove functionality of such system. Additionally, authors measured several gnuradio blocks with respect to their impact on total latency introduced into signal path. All tests were performed on a bladeRF low-cost RF front-end. Minimum observed latency for the signal was below 10 ms.

Opis:
The whole world is dependent on satellite systems as they are used in almost all fields of economic and social life, in transport, banking, industry, agriculture, etc. Thanks to the development of technology, most smartphones used everyday have been equipped with a built-in GNSS receiver, many cars with navigation systems and all vessels with GNSS receiver or a satellite compass for navigation. Systems working on similar frequencies can be used for jamming or spoofing satellite systems. Such purposeful system jamming can be damaging to users and society as a whole. This article includes a description of jamming and a presentation of one of possible receiver designs allowing for jamming signal detection. This receiver has been designed and built by the authors of the article.
Systemy satelitarne uzależniły cały świat i są wykorzystywane niemal we wszystkich dziedzinach życia gospodarczego i społecznego, w transporcie, bankowości, przemyśle, rolnictwie itp.

Due to the development of MEMS, there is an opportunity to build a low-cost integrated navigation systems, operating independently of horizon visibility. This paper presents the proposal of an integrated GPS/IMU platform using MEMS technology. In order to verify the performance of a system built at the University of Warmia and Mazury, an experiment was conducted. In this experiment a precise Javad GNSS receiver, commercial grade GPS/IMU XW – ADU5660 and own-built system were used. The experiment was conducted to compare the results obtained from self built device with the working military integrated navigation unit. During the study all three devices were mounted inside moving vehicle. The car drove route inside the Kortowo campus, during which, all equipment performed measurements. Then, the results from both integrated systems were compared with RTK (Real Time Kinematic) results from Javad receiver. Experiments prove that the performance of own device is comparable to the commercial device.

Spatial segment is one of three segments of each satellite navigation systems (SNS). Nowadays two SNSs, GPS and GLONASS, are fully operational, two next SNSs, BeiDou in China and Galileo in Europe, are in final phase of the construction. In the case of China system this segment will consist of 35 satellites with three types of orbits ? medium (MEO), geostationary (GEO) and inclined geosynchronous (IGSO). As GEO and IGSO satellites can be used in China and Asia-Pacific region only, BeiDou MEO constellation with 27 fully operational satellites will be taken into account in this paper. The orbital planes of the Galileo constellation will be divided in “slots” that contains at least one operational satellite. The Galileo reference constellation has 24 nominal orbital positions or operational slots in MEO homogeneously distributed in 3 orbital planes; i.e. 8 slots equally spaced per plane. As the error of user’s position obtained from both systems depends on geometry factor DOP (Dilution Of Precision) among other things the knowledge of the number of satellites visible by the user above given masking elevation angle Hmin and the distributions of DOP coefficient values, GDOP in particular, is very important. The lowest and the greatest number of satellites visible in open area by the observer at different latitudes for different Hmin, the percentage of satellites visible above angle H, distributions (in per cent) of satellites azimuths and GDOP coefficient values for different Hmin for BeiDou and Galileo systems at different latitudes are presented in the paper.
