Opis:
The paper investigates the impact of a precise ship domain shape on the size of collision avoidance manoeuvres. The considered collision avoidance manoeuvres include both course and speed alterations. Various ship domains are compared with their polygonal approximations, which vary in the number of points of a domain contour and placement of these points. The best of all considered approximations is determined in the course of simulation experiments performed for head-on, crossing and overtaking situations. The chosen number and placement of contour points combine precision of domain approximation with reasonable computational time.

Opis:
An example is shown of the 1-2-3 rule application for calculations to determine a route avoiding tropical cyclones. The dynamic programming used is based on regularly received weather reports containing present and forecast data on tropical cyclones. The results were compared with the post factum calculated route which utilized only weather analyses concerning the relevant moments of the voyage and with routes calculated using the cyclone fuzzy domain as an area dangerous to navigation. The calculations were made in the evolutionary algorithms environment.

Opis:
Safety analysis of navigation over a given area may cover application of various risk measures for ship collisions. One of them is percentage of the so called near- miss situations (potential collision situations). In this article a method of automatic detection of such situations based on the data from Automatic Identification System (AIS), is proposed. The method utilizes input parameters such as: collision risk measure based on ship’s domain concept, relative speed between ships as well as their course difference. For classification of ships encounters, there is used a neuro-fuzzy network which estimates a degree of collision hazard on the basis of a set of rules. The worked out method makes it possibile to apply an arbitrary ship’s domain as well as to learn the classifier on the basis of opinions of experts interpreting the data from the AIS.

Opis:
The paper discusses the problem of rule weight tuning in neuro-fuzzy systems with parameterized consequences in which rule weights and the activation of the rules are not interchangeable. Some heuristic methods of rule weight computation in neuro-fuzzy systems with a hierarchical input domain partition and parameterized consequences are proposed. Several heuristics with experimental results showing the advantage of their usage are presented.
