Opis:
The article presents modern PMSM servo-drive with SiC MOSFETs power devices and microprocessor with ARM Cortex core. The high switching frequency is obtained due to the application of high efficient power switching components and powerful microprocessor. It allows to achieve good dynamical properties of current control loop, proper disturbance compensation and silent operation of servo-drive. Experimental tests results obtained for two different control schemes (i.e., cascade control structure and state feedback position control) are presented.

Opis:
Self-excited generators are the most popular voltage sources installed onboard of modern ships. Because of fuel savings on some specialized vessels (PSV, cable layers etc.) varying revolutions drives are used and this trend seems to increase. Very interesting issue is use of such type of alternator working with inverter acting as rectifier in DC grid system. As the control method most suitable to use is modified field oriented control known from induction machines. This control method involves decoupling of currents and control voltages to flux and torque components and keeping them in optimal (orthogonal) condition. Theoretical background of inverter and synchronous generator adopted FOC control method along with experimental results obtained in laboratory of such system were presented.

Opis:
Synchronous self-excited generators still are and probably will be the most popular 3-phase alternators installed in inland power stations so onboard of seagoing ships. Because of fuel savings and environmental restrictions Diesel, dual-fuel and gas propulsion engines for alternators of wide-range varying revolutions drives are increasingly used. There must be efficient way of creating 3-phase voltages of desired constant parameters ensured when generator produces variable amplitudes and frequencies of voltages because of changing rotational speed. As the control method modified field oriented control widely used with squirrel cage induction machines was chosen. This control method involves decoupling of currents and control voltages to flux and torque components and keeping them in optimal (orthogonal) condition. In order to obtain proper excitation and operation of such generator several factors have to be taken into account. Nonlinear dependence of voltage generated from rotational speed of self-excited synchronous generator is one of the factors that affects initial excitation process thus specific control method while generator startup. Theoretical background of synchronous generator excitation and voltage source inverter adopted FOC control method along with experimental results obtained in laboratory test bench of 5,5 kW generator and conclusions were presented.

Opis:
This paper deals with a comparative study using numerical simulations between the failures effect caused by the speed sensor faults for a propulsion control system (PCS) of an electrical vehicle (EV) using dualinduction motors structure. The PCS strategies are achieved on two types of controls where the first one is done from a flux-oriented control (FOC) and the second one is conducted from a direct torque control (DTC). For an electric vehicle, we will often guarantee service continuity, in spite of the occurred faults such as an offset fault in speed sensor and a zero-feedback sensor speed fault which both are essentially needed in the structure of the PCS-EV. The occurred fault cited above might influence one of the dual induction motors which could be conducted an unbalance in the dual used motors and from which the control of the vehicle might be also lost. The results of the realized numerical simulations on the EV conducted by the PCS demonstrate clearly the impact of the so-called-fault. Thereafter, we can also appreciate the robustness using each used control propulsion system in despite of the occurred speed sensor fault.

Opis:
This paper presents an estimator-based speed sensorless field-oriented control (FOC) method for induction machines, where the state estimator is based on a self-contained, non-linear model. This model characterises both the electrical and the mechanical behaviours of the machine and describes them with seven state variables. The state variables are estimated from the measured stator currents and from the known stator voltages by using an estimator algorithm. An important aspect is that one of the state variables is the load torque and, hence, it is also estimated by the estimator. Using this feature, the applied estimator-based speed sensorless control algorithm may be operated adequately besides varying load torque. In this work, two different variants of the control algorithm are developed based on the extended and the unscented Kalman filters (EKF, UKF) as state estimators. The dynamic performance of these variants is tested and compared using experiments and simulations. Results show that the variants have comparable performance in general, but the UKF-based control provides better performance if a stochastically varying load disturbance is present.

Opis:
The e-Navigation initiative of IMO and IALA has stimulated and inspired a number of ambitious research projects and technological developments in the maritime field. The global transportation of goods is not only facing rapidly growing ship dimensions but also increasing industrial off shore activities, changing the relation between the need of areas for safe and reliable vessel traffic and its availability. Off shore activities is increasingly limiting the available navigable spaces and concentrating traffic flows, especially in coastal waters and port approaches. Enhanced technical systems and equipment with numerous added functionalities are in use and under further development providing new opportunities for traffic surveillance and interaction. Integrated Bridge and Navigation Systems on board modern ships not only support the bridge teams and pilots on board, but also allow for more comprehensive shore-based traffic monitoring and even allow for re-thinking of existing regimes and procedures on traffic management. A sophisticated manoeuvring support tool using fast real-time simulation technology and its application for on board support as well as for its potential integration into enhanced shore-based monitoring processes when linked with the ‘Maritime Cloud’ will be introduced. The potential for contribution to generate harmonized collision warnings will be discussed and explained. This paper is a reviewed and extended version of (Baldauf, Benedict & Gluch, 2014).

Opis:
Conventional field-orientated Induction motor drives operate at rated flux even at low load. To improve the efficiency of the existing motor it is important to regulate the flux of the motor in the desired operating range. In this paper a loss model controller (LMC) based on the real coded genetic algorithm is proposed, it has the straightforward goal of maximizing the efficiency for each given load torque. In order to give more accuracy to the motor model and the LMC a series model of the motor which consider the iron losses as a resistance connected in series with the mutual inductance is considered. Digital computer simulation demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm and also simulation results have confirmed that this algorithm yields the optimal efficiency.

Opis:
Current maritime transportation and shipping is characterized by rapid technological developments effecting the basic concepts of operating ships and even changing traditional paradigms of controlling ships. The e-Navigation concept of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) specifically aims at more comprehensive and reliable support of the human operators on-board and ashore. However, autonomous unmanned ships remote controlled or even autonomously navigating are expected to come soon. In this paper, selected operational aspects of maritime traffic merging conventional and unmanned remote controlled ships in coastal areas are discussed. Furthermore, some preliminary results of experimental simulation studies into a future scenario of maritime traffic are presented and preliminary conclusions in respect to job profiling and training requirements are discussed.
