    Even though the literature is abundant in numerous studies concerning syntactic and semantic principles of the EPC model development, one may still have certain doubts when linking such models with one another. This article primarily addresses the principles of creating EPC models, particularly those relevant from the perspective of linking them, identified based on the literature research. What follows the said analysis is a proposal of an alternative concept which may be adopted in this respect. The author has discussed the cases in which models must be subject to specific modifications in order for the linking solution proposed to be applicable.

    EPC models provide a subject widely discussed in the literature. The principles applicable, while creating them have been elaborated upon in numerous publications. An analysis of the existing principles indicates certain inconsistencies as far as the creation of hierarchical models is concerned. The problem of combining equivalent EPC models using process interfaces has been discussed in the author’s previous publication. This paper continues to elaborate upon the problems previously raised, pertaining to EPC model linking by means of hierarchical functions. It addresses principles significant from the perspective of creating and linking such models using the aforementioned approach. Specific questionable situations have been described and individual solutions proposed to enable avoiding them.

    While conducting previous studies, it was noticed, that in the EPC diagrams used to build process models under preparation of the integrated management system documentation, there were many syntax errors. This article is a discussion on the results of the follow-up studies to the aforementioned issue. The main point of the studies was to identify the syntax errors made in flat EPC diagrams by the persons learning the methodology of process modelling. The errors identified have been discussed in details. Under all cases, the relevant principles have been referred to breaking of which had led to the given error. The author has also proposed the appropriate solutions that may be applied instead of the incorrect diagram sections. The results presented and discussed can be used to improve the leaning process in the sphere of the EPC methodology application.
    Podczas przeprowadzonych wcześniej badań zaobserwowano, że w diagramach EPC, wykorzystywanych do tworzenia modelu procesów w ramach dokumentacji zintegrowanych systemów zarządzania, występuje wiele błędów składniowych. W artykule przedstawione zostały wyniki badań stanowiących kontynuację tego tematu. Skupiono się w nich na identyfikacji błędów składniowych popełnianych w płaskich diagramach EPC przez osoby poznające tę metodologię modelowania procesów. Zidentyfikowane błędy zostały szczegółowo omówione. W każdym przypadku przytoczono odpowiednie reguły, których złamanie było przyczyną zaistnienia danego błędu. Przedstawiono także propozycję rozwiązań prawidłowych, które mogą być zastosowane zamiast nieprawidłowych fragmentów diagramów. Zaprezentowane wyniki mogą zostać wykorzystane do doskonalenia procesu kształcenia w zakresie stosowania metodologii EPC.

    The EPC methodology enables accurate modelling of economic processes. One of the main spheres of its application is procedure creation under quality, occupational health and safety or environment management systems. The development of the methodology in question has led to establishment of precise conditions that must be conformed with in a correct process model. The main theme of the article is a general discussion of the EPC methodology. Based on an analysis of numerous literary studies published, a set of principles that should be met by an EPC diagram as a graphical representation of the process being described has been identified and discussed. Another subject touched upon in the article is the results of examinations of 156 diagrams from documents of integrated management systems implemented in two companies. The examinations conducted have implied that the diagrams created in the course of the documentation drawing up do not conform with many of the applicable requirements. The individual syntax errors occurring in the documents have been identified and discussed in the paper, and special attention has been paid to those related to application of the OR and XOR split connectors as well as those occurring when joining diagrams.
    Metodologia EPC pozwala na precyzyjne modelowanie procesów gospodarczych. Wśród wielu obszarów jej zastosowania znajduje się miedzy innymi tworzenie procedur w ramach systemu zarządzania jakością, bezpieczeństwem i higieną pracy czy środowiskiem. W ramach rozwoju metodologii określone zostały precyzyjne zasady, które muszą być spełnione przez prawidłowy model procesu. W artykule omówiono ogólnie metodologię EPC. Na podstawie badań literaturowych zidentyfikowano i przedstawiono zbiór reguł, które powinny być spełnione przez diagram EPC będący graficzną prezentacją opisywanego procesu. Przedstawiono również wyniki badań przeprowadzonych na 156 diagramach pochodzących z dokumentacji zintegrowanych systemów zarządzania z dwóch firm. W wyniku badań stwierdzono, że tworzone w ramach dokumentacji diagramy nie spełniają wielu z przedstawionych zasad. Zidentyfikowano i omówiono pojawiające się w dokumentacji poszczególne błędy składniowe. Za szczególnie istotne uznano błędy związane ze stosowaniem operatorów rozdzielających OR i XOR oraz błędy pojawiające się w zakresie łączenia diagramów.

    EPC models are currently among the leading standard business process modelling solutions. As long as the rules for creating flat EPC models are explicit and raise no significant doubts, when it comes to linking models of different types, the literature of the subject delivers diversified solutions. Four such alternative concepts that can be applied in this respect have been identified and described in this article. They have been used to link EPC models for four cases proposed. These cases differ as to the degree of complexity, and they represent different kinds of potential links between processes being modelled. Using the concepts in question with reference to the cases defined has made it possible to identify situations in which it is impossible to link models, or when it raises certain doubts. What has also been proposed is that one of the concepts identified in the paper can be modified in such a manner that using it to link EPC models does not pose any problem in any of the cases discussed.

    Opis:
    The 1 to 1 relationships of charts of accounts, accounting journals and tables of accounting records with corresponding tables of accounts, business transactions and transactional records in the framework EPC II system have been presented in the paper. These tables are the main information kinds, that is tables in which one can write down all information needed for management and business process control in any enterprise, or they are composed of them. In this way it has been shown that the Theory of Enterprise Process Control is compatible with generally accepted accounting principles. This analysis is an example of demonstrating conformity of the EPC II theory with real management and process control systems. The main information kinds with their key attributes were taken from the complete list of them, which is included in the paper. What is more, the tight relationships between resource flow in business processes and turnover on the accounts of the framework EPC II system have been discussed. Owing to these relationships one can determine the impact of any decision variable on the accounting records in a given enterprise.
