Digital Bottom Model
Opis:
In the article basis of modeling the surface for spatial presentation of sea bottom hale been included. There have been shown typical, well known, method for generating TIN (Triangulated Irregular Network), GRID and mathematical methods using C++ environment. For presentation the sea bottom ENC (Electronic Navigational Charts) encoded in S-57 Standard have been used.

Opis:
The accuracy of bathymetric maps, especially in the coastal zone, is very important from the point of view of safety of navigation and transport. Due to the continuous change in shape of the seabed, these maps are fast becoming outdated for precise navigation. Therefore, it is necessary to perform periodical bathymetric measurements to keep them updated on a current basis. At present, none of the institutions in Poland (maritime offices, Hydrographic Office of the Polish Navy) which are responsible for implementation of this type of measurements has at their disposal a hydrographic vessel capable of carrying out measurements for shallow waters (at depths below 1 m). This results in emergence of large areas for which no measurement data have been obtained and, consequently, the maps in the coastal zones are rather unreliable. The article presents the concept of bathymetric measurements for shallow waters with the use of an autonomous, unmanned survey vessel (ASV/USV). For this purpose, the authors modernized a typical ASV/USV unit with standard radio remote control system to the fully autonomous mode. As part of the modernization, the route planning software was created. The developed software works based on, alternatively, GNSS measurements of the coastline, or satellite images. The system was supplemented by an own autopilot (adapted for flying drones). Moreover, the method of controlling electric motors was changed thanks to the use of own electronic circuit. The modernized ASV/USV measuring system was verified by performing bathymetric measurements of the retention reservoir in Gdansk, Poland. Then, the obtained measurement data were used to create a digital bottom model and a bathymetric map of the reservoir.

Opis:
The authors have undertaken the development of DEM based on the archived materials from the time when the area of present Sulejów Lake was not an artificial water reservoir. The source materials used were Area Map of Administrative Districts in the scale of 1:25,000 from 1961 and a 1:1,000 documental map attached to the study Sulejowski Reservoir – study of sedimentation and updating of depth. The effect of this work was the creation of a Digital Geomorphological Model of the area that presently does not exist. In the second stage of works a bottom model of Sulejów Lake was made based on data gathered during echo sounding research conducted in 2008 by the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management, which comprises 36 profiles. Both models were then compared with tools available in the ArcGis program by ESRI. The analysis revealed differences resulting from processes that occurred during the construction and 40 years of existence of the reservoir.

Opis:
The aim of the study is to present the occurrence of landslides on the submarine slope of a sandy barrier. The scale and significance of this phenomenon is discussed. The study area is the Hel Peninsula. It is a 35 km long young sandy spit. The landform is prograding into the deep part of Gdańsk Bay, and the underwater extension of its tip is a steep sandy slope. The tip is still poorly investigated, as it was a military area closed to researchers until 2003. The first detailed survey of the tip on the seabed was conducted aboard the research vessel “IMOR”. A multibeam echosounder, a sub-bottom profiler and a side-scan sonar were used, while grab and core samples of sediment were obtained. Many forms, commonly created as the result of underwater mass movement, were recognized and determined (main scarps, main bodies, landslide steps, landslide foots, series of small slides, “sheet” slides and structural slides). On the one hand, the landslide processes that occur in the tip of the Hel Peninsula are related to the natural development of sandy spits. On the other hand, they threaten the shore’s stability. The genesis of the landslides is still not known.
