Opis:
Trees are significant components of ecosystems built by several widespread species. For instance, Papua forest is known to comprise abiotic and biotic elements. Also, certain plants have grown in popu- larity to a point where they are discovered almost everywhere. The purpose of this study, therefore, was to investigate tree diversity, distribution, and the importance of conservation. Data were collected in four locations using a total of 24 sample plots spread across Idoor, Karst, Persemaian, and Torembi, where seven, four, seven, and five plots were allocated, respectively. These forests formed a mixed natural plantation comprising 76 species from 35 families. Furthermore, Idoor and Karst generated the highest species diver- sity and varied significantly compared to Persemaian, while Torembi showed similarities with the other three locations. This condition formed three ecosystem communities across Persemaian, Karst, Idoor, and Torembi. Also, the composition of the dominant species showed variations at the seedling and sapling levels believed to structure the understory, while the pole and tree levels characterized the overstory. The total species status was described as critically endangered (CR) of two species, vulnerable (VU) of six species, least con- cern (LC) of 28 species, and data deficient (DD) species. Therefore, location management is advised to not only pay significant attention in terms of economic benefits but also ecological, including the provisions for ex-situ and in-situ conservation to support sustainable forest management.

Opis:
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to assess the innovation activities of companies in the EU countries, taking into consideration the external factors. Design/methodology/approach: This article focuses on the analysis of the most frequently used factors determining the external conditions of the companies innovation activities with the use of taxonomic analysis. The research was conducted on the annual data for years 2017-2019 for the selected European countries. The data from the databases of OECD and Eurostat were used in the analysis. Findings: The results of the conducted analysis allow to conclude that the state and organisation of innovation activities in the economy and thus, in the companies is strongly dependent on external factors. The averages and quartiles were calculated to show the dynamics of the factors. Moreover, Ward dendrogram was presented to show the similarities and differences in shaping the innovation activities. The synthetic indicator was used to determine the development path and the map of objects was drawn. There is a strict connection between the amount of expenditures on R&D and the employees’ education concerning the implementation of the innovation activities in all analysed countries. In particular, it is visible in the Scandinavian countries and in Luxembourg. In Poland the innovation activities of companies is similar to the ones in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. The low level of GERD causes that many companies have financial problems and despite high dynamics of industrial production, the innovativeness is still at a low level. Research limitations/implications: The comparison of Poland with other countries would surely give a wider picture whether the innovation processes are performed in an efficient way. The accessibility of data, for each country, used in the research not only limited the period of analysis but also determined the selection of variables. The analysis was based on the data from the mentioned databases to make it more reliable. Practical implications: The information obtained during the conducted analysis may facilitate the process of proper decision making referring to the management of innovations. The implementation of innovations guarantees not only the company development but also greater transparency in the information and knowledge flow among the workers. Originality/value: The analysis of external factors of the innovation activities is really important as the investments in innovation activities are the more and more important GDP part and the numerical taxonomy methods enable to indicate, indirectly, these countries which should be models for Poland so that it could organise and manage the innovation processes. The analysis of innovation activities makes it possible to indicate desired directions of changes in the management of Polish companies. Thus, it is a basis to take decisions in the competitive markets.

Opis:
The work relates to changes of the eggs prices in European Union member states since 2004 to 2010. The analysis is based on annually, monthly and weekly average eggs prices. Correspondence analysis is applied to analyze the direction and structure of the changes with reference to all considered states. The unexpected and violent price changes are captured with respect to particular states. Moreover in the reference to chosen states, the model of structural time series analysis is applied to show the price changes in a more detail.

Opis:
This article describes the simple technology of the hierarchical agglomerative cluster analysis of 20 different libraries, presented by the samples of classification attributes of the same volumes. It is necessary to construct a proximity matrix for an effective process of cluster analysis, using the data from the table “library-classification features”. For separating a set of selected objects into clusters, so that each of them has objects, the most appropriate for its type, it is necessary to create a table “object-property”, where libraries are objects and individual and equal dimension vectors (sets) of characteristic classification features are properties. To do this you should: form the set of libraries that are the objects of clustering; define for each library the set of classification features and its power (volume) in the same nominal scale; choose the value scale of classification features; form a table object-property. This technology is implemented in the environment of MsExcel-2003. It includes the transformation of one-dimensional data into multi-dimensional indexes, using the descriptive statistics and distributions of individual parameters, the creation of the “object-property” table, the building of the proximity matrix, the definition of the dendrogram structure and the cluster interpretation. The application of clustering method can further focus on creating algorithms of effective information search, and also building the scientifically-reasonable classification systems orientated on the library science. The method of hierarchical agglomerative cluster analysis can be used with typological or semantic distribution of library funds, or studying of their thematic and specific composition. This method can be considered as universal, that gives an opportunity to formalize the typology division of any objects of librarianship.

Opis:
Globally, more than 5.2 billion hectares of farming fields are damaged through erosion, salinity, and soil deterioration. Salt stress-tolerant bacteria have plant growth-promoting (PGP) characteristics that can be used to overcome environmental stresses. Isolation and screening of salt-tolerant endophytes from Bougainvillea glabra were achieved through surface sterilization of leaves, followed by their cultivation on 0.5% NaCl-supplemented media. The performance of isolates for indole acetic acid (IAA) production, phosphate solubilization, ACC deaminase activity, ammonia production, siderophore production, and stress tolerance was determined. In the present study, 5 morphologically distinct salt-tolerant endophytic bacteria were cultured. Out of 5 isolates, 60% salt-tolerant endophytes showed phosphate solubilization, 100% IAA production, 40% ACC-deaminase activity, 100% siderophore production, 40% ammonia production and 60% HCN production. Dendrogram generated based on stress tolerance showed three clusters: clusters 1 and 2 containing two isolates and cluster 3 containing 1 isolate. Based on the highest PGP activities, BoGl17 and BoGl21 isolates were chosen and further tested for wheat and corn growth promotion. The isolates increased wheat shoot and root dry weight by 40% and 80%, and by 69% and 126% for BoGl17 and BoGl21, respectively. The bacterial isolates identified as Pseudomonas reidholzensis BoGl17 had 95.59% identity with Pseudomonas reidholzensis strain ID3, while the isolate Bacillus aerius BoGl21 had 90.96% identity with Bacillus aerius strain 24K based on phenotypic features and 16S rRNA gene sequencing results. Both isolates significantly improved plant growth as compared to uninoculated plants.

Opis:
This paper introduces the most basic concepts of the compositional analysis of data with a simple but real example form the Management and Production Engineering (MPE) field. Compositional Data (CoDa) are vectors of positive elements that represent parts of a whole and are widely found in MPE, i.e. production times, resource composition, percentage utilization of work stands, waste components. . . The need for an analysis based on ratios of components (or better log-ratios of components) is illustrated step by step, and findings are compared to the corresponding standard methods applied to raw compositions. The paper also exposes the principles of CoDa analysis and presents two basic descriptive tools suitable for CoDa: the clr-biplot and the CoDa dendrogram. The example is a time series, from 1994 to 2013, of motor vehicle production in 8 countries and regions.
