The article deals with the issues related to the modernization of the educational programme "Computer Engineering" for the IT-profile graduates using competence-based approach. Particular attention is paid to the competence-based approach and the specifics of teaching at Master’s level according to the new curriculum. The transformational experience of the higher education system of the Republic of Belarus is analysed from the point of view of its adaptation to the European Higher Education Area standards and traditions as well as from the point of view improving its efficiency in the conditions of dynamic labour market. Special emphasis has been made on IT-specialist social competences development as a condition for both professional self-realisation and more successful professional socialisation of future specialists.

The article discusses the teaching methodology for a digital electronics course utilizing BASYS Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) boards (Digilent, Inc.), with a hybrid or blended classroom delivery method. The article outlines a methodology that combines the teaching of current digital circuit design technology with the use of a pedagogical approach to online delivery for a proportion of the course lectures. The FPGA boards by Digilent offer a modern PLD technology platform where beginners and more advanced practitioners alike may design and implement digital circuits with various operational capabilities. This means that the boards offer state-of-the art technology for computer engineering instructors to effectively introduce modern programmable memory technologies in the classroom. However, in light of the increased necessity for flexibility in college course delivery methods, the article also shows a successful method of material delivery that incorporates an online component. This aspect addresses the current expectations for greater course delivery flexibility and convenience due to the increasing number of adult students who need to work to support themselves and/or their families. Thus, the article offers an effective pedagogical approach to teaching current digital circuit analysis and design using a modern material delivery method.

A technique is introduced for the construction of simulators of telecommunication networks based on the P2P protocol with a decentralized directory. The context of the application concerns P2P networks used both by sharing software and by telecommunication applications, as in VoIP applications. P2P systems have the advantages of boundless scalability and the break-up insensibility of devices, but suffer from heavy traffic of signals and network delays. Therefore, simulation of signal traffic in P2P networks is an important issue. The technique we have developed enables individuation of a generic P2P network's components and their functional characterization. We have worked at this level of description in order to determine the architecture of every component as a model of queues' networks. We have therefore defined a library of new types of objects for the construction of P2P network simulators with the Qnap2.V9 programming language. In this context, we have defined a procedure automatically generating the simulator of an any P2P network. During its execution, the procedure reads data from a file containing a description of the structure of the considered P2P network and values of the characteristic parameters of its components. Results related to the simulation of three configurations of a P2P network are introduced in Section 5 below. They differ according to the technology used to realize the local interconnection networks. The context of the present paper is a research program developed at the University of Camerino in defining specific computer procedures aimed at construction of simulators of telecommunication and computing networks. This technique also enables simulation of the software elaboration phases on computer networks and evaluation of the impact of specific choices concerning the structure of transmission protocols and operation paradigms of software applications [1, 2].

Numerous technopreneurs start their ventures at college age, but the entrepreneurship of computer and electrical engineering (CEE) students remains under-studied. This study analysed both the combined and interactive effects of psychological factors on the entrepreneurial intentions of CEE students. In this study, entrepreneurial intention comprised two dimensions, conviction and preparation. Regarding the direct effects, the results indicated that self-efficacy affected entrepreneurial conviction the most, followed by negative emotion, intrinsic motivation, and metacognition. Negative emotion affected entrepreneurial preparation the most, followed by self-efficacy and positive emotion. The results also revealed several crucial interactive effects resulting from psychological factors. An increase in cognitive load increased the entrepreneurial intention of students exhibiting high intrinsic motivation and reduced the intention of students exhibiting low intrinsic motivation. An increase in metacognition increased the entrepreneurial conviction of students exhibiting either high or low intrinsic motivation. An increase in positive emotion reduced the entrepreneurial intention of students exhibiting high negative emotion and increased the intention of students exhibiting low negative emotion. An increase in self-efficacy increased the entrepreneurial intention of students exhibiting either high or low negative emotion.

The article reveals the influence of education informatization on the process of computer engineering educators’ professional becoming. It is substantiated that at present education informatization plays the role of a socio-cultural mechanism influencing the formation of an active, enterprising, and mobile specialist in the field of vocational education. It is established that the growth and complexity of social, economic, and professional information require the computer engineering educator to be able to adapt quickly and effectively to new conditions in the labour market. It actualizes the social need for the purposeful formation in such professionals of information and communication skills implying the achievement of professional self-improvement, self-determination, and self-positioning.
W artykule podkreślono wpływ informatyzacji edukacji na proces przygotowania zawodowego inżynierów-pedagogów o profilu komputerowym. Potwierdzono, że informatyzacja edukacji odgrywa obecnie rolę społeczno-kulturowego mechanizmu wpływu na kształtowanie się aktywnego, pełnego inicjatywy, mobilnego specjalisty w dziedzinie edukacji zawodowej. Ustalono, że wzrost i złożoność informacji społecznej, gospodarczej i zawodowej wymagają od inżyniera-pedagoga o profilu komputerowym umiejętności szybkiej i skutecznej adaptacji do nowych warunków na rynku pracy. Aktualizuje to społeczne zapotrzebowanie na celowe kształtowanie u przyszłych inżynierów-pedagogów o profilu komputerowym kompetencji informacyjno-komunikacyjnych, które zakładają osiągnięcie samodoskonalenia zawodowego, samookreślenia i samopozycjonowania.

Ensuring an adequate time-to-market at lowest possible cost and time requirements is of major importance for the economic success in chemical and process engineering. This contribution presents an approach for an automatic constructive design of plant modules with a high level of details including equipment, close and internal piping, instrumentation, and steelwork. A prototypical implementation was successfully realized within the PlantDesign feature of MOSAICmodeling simulation and modelling environment.
Zapewnienie odpowiednio krótkiego czasu oraz możliwie najmniejszych kosztów wprowadzania nowego produktu na rynek ma decydujące znaczenie dla odniesienia sukcesu w przemyśle chemicznym i inżynierii procesowej. W pracy przedstawiono propozycję automatyzacji procedury projektowania poszczególnych, pojedynczych modułów konstrukcyjnych instalacji procesowej z uwzględnieniem aparatów procesowych, orurowania i oprzyrządowania instalacji, a także konstrukcji stalowych. Powyższe zadania zostały zaimplementowane i zrealizowane z powodzeniem z wykorzystaniem oprogramowania wspomagającego projektowanie instalacji, działającego w środowiska modelowania i symulacji MOSAICmodeling.

Tablet computers have become a common part of our life style. Since 2012, inspired by the success of touch devices in special education, we have established and led the IT therapy program for the mentally challenged. In this paper we also present one of our final study with 12 participants. Based on our findings from our studies we have finally proposed 14 design principles (an extension and redefinition of a previously proposed 10 simple design principles) which should be generally respected in design and development of every "usable/accessible" application for the mentally challenged. Some of these principles are applicable as design patterns or models in software development and some were already implemented in our framework which we used to develop new more usable applications.

This article presents basic principles of using simulation research in marine traffic engineering and describes a simulation method of waterway design. The author indicates the most common errors made when the procedures of simulation research are not followed, despite advanced ship handling simulators used, which makes it impossible to satisfy the criterion of conformity between the examined system and its model. Practical use of results thus obtained leads to the breach of safety criteria or overdimensioning of waterway system. The presented simulation method of waterway design has been developed by this author. Applying the procedures of the method ensures that the mentioned conformity criterion is fulfilled.

This study aimed to analyze perceptions of Iranian English for Academic Purposes (EAP) students on their computer literacy levels. A total of 641 undergraduate students of civil engineering and 34 EAP instructors participated in the study. Data collection instruments included questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. Findings confirmed that the participants perceived Iranian EAP students’ computer literacy levels as low and insufficient for the efficient implementation of Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) in EAP instruction. The results of the study highlighted that computer literacy occupies a significant role in tertiary students’ academic and EAP achievement. It appeared that there are several constraints and barriers which would discourage EAP students from promoting their computer literacy and using computers for learning EAP. Furthermore, the study found evidence to support the view that there should be adequate computer literacy training programs for EAP students to facilitate the incorporation of computer technology in EAP instruction. The analysis of qualitative data provided insights into participants’ perceptions of several specific computer-based skills required for technology-enhanced EAP learning. Implications for the integration of technology and CALL in EAP instruction are provided.

The model of concurrent design and engineering assumes that all people involved in the design process work interchangeably together in a team. The three areas of the design process, which are ideation, refinement of a product and its implementation overlap with each other [1]. To complete the work it is necessary to use most efficient computer programs for the specific design purpose. In practice it shows up that available CAD/CAM software is still not compatible and that using certain Computer programs means knowing limitations of them. The most popular CAD software used for design purpose in Poland today is AutoCAD or Ar-chiCAD. In the paper some discussion on properties and capacity of the two of listed above CAD programs will be discussed based on the design experience of the author.
Idea współbieżnego projektowania inżynierskiego zakłada, że wszyscy uczestnicy procesu projektowego są uniwersalni i zamiennie wykonują zadania. Trzy obszary procesu projektowego, to jest idealizacja, doskonalenie wytworu oraz wdrażanie nie są rozłączne. Z drugiej strony w praktyce projektowania używa się rozmaitych, bardzo wydajnych programów komputerowych. Jednak dostępne oprogramowanie CAD/CAM nie jest jeszcze w pełni kompatybilne i to znacznie ogranicza możliwości nowoczesnego projektowania. Najbardziej po¬pularnymi w Polsce pakietami CAD są AutoCAD oraz ArchiCAD. W artykule omawia się niektóre własności tych programów w oparciu o doświadczenia Autorki.
