Opis:
The paper concerns the problem of computer security and intrusion detection. In particular the problem of detecting the masqueraders – intruders who pretend to be authorized users of computer systems. The article presents an improvement of the block profile method of intruder detection for computer systems. As a base for the work the block profiles were taken and the clustering of the block profiles data was performed. The aim was to detect the masqueraders within the test data. The problem of computer security is particularly important in medical applications. Activities of intruder can distort the data stored in medical databases and analyzed by the medical expert systems or decision support systems and thus make it difficult to support the diagnosis of diseases. For this reason it is necessary protect the medical computer systems from unauthorized access. This article presents the preliminary research and conclusions.

Opis:
The paper examines modern ways to improve the efficiency of information perception using multimedia technology, thus ensuring the use of a powerful new tool for understanding of information by persons with various forms of nosology. The use of assistive computer technologies for people with disabilities is investigated. The peculiarities of formation of multimedia information content for users with special needs were analyzed. The digital library as a set of information technology services is proposed making multimedia information content accessible to users with various forms of nosology. It was investigated that in spite of rapid development of modern communication means and assistive technologies their use is limited for people with disabilities, in particular for hearing impaired people. Most of available technologies for hearing impaired people translate speech into text. As was shown this approach is not fairly efficient because Sign language turned out to be the most convenient way of communication for the respondents.

Opis:
A graphical user interface to programs for the determination of equilibrium parameters from physicochemical data (GOLEM) has been developed. The program converts input data written in a common chemical language into the algebraic form required by the programs that do actual computations. This includes translation of chemical equations into algebraic form and building up the history of the preparation of solutions. The program works on PC/DOS platforms and in the current version prepares the data for the program STOICHIO (J. Kostrowicki, A. Liwo, see Comput. Chem., vol.11, no.3, p.195, 1987) which determines the stoichiometry and equilibrium constants from physicochemical measurements.

Opis:
This paper presents new trends in interface design of medical ultrasound devices and explains the basics of implementing usability engineering in accordance with international standards. Methods for determining the initial requirements, design guidelines, processes of prototyping, verification, and validation of software user interfaces for medical devices are discussed. The article also presents a preliminary plan of a methodology for prototyping touch-based and standard-control interfaces for mobile ultrasonic devices.

Opis:
Problems of human-computer interaction modelling are considered in this paper. The aim was the quality evaluation of the user activity. The need of performing such evaluations occurs in the case of computer systems design, destined for control of complex processes, as well as devices being commonly in use. The simplest models are designed to calculate basic characteristics of the user activity, i.e. the command entering time and the command correct execution probability. The theory of Markov chains with rewards is the basis for constructing these models. The use of the elaborated model is shown on an example of simple command entering.
