    Opis:
    The paper characterizes some selected aspects of intelligent building technology. Various functions are described that enable optimal controlling of the devices operating in accordance with previously programmed instructions and with current information. Such control is aimed at ensuring economic functioning of the building by reasonable and sound management of its resources (chiefly the energy) and to guarantee safety and comfort of the inhabitants. Examples of realization of these functions are presented, together with the computation - visualization software. The DomoSim visualization - designing software is characterized, that is intended for control and automation purposes.

    Opis:
    Accomplishment of basic services implementation with specific quality is one of the main challenges of the command and communication systems for modern maritime safety and defense. The specificity of the marine environment imposes the use of narrowband HF (High Frequency) and VHF (Very High Frequency) radio communication devices which are capable to implement IP transmission. This paper presents the requirements for the HF and VHF radio systems according to the IP protocol requirements. At the beginning basic properties of narrowband HF and VHF waveforms in context of their operational scenarios has been described. Then results of experimental research (implementation of narrowband services — voice and data) has been presented. Finally further research directions with contribution of the authors, in NATO working groups related to the development of NBWF (Narrowband Waveform) for coalition communication has been presented.
    Jednym z głównych wyzwań stawianych współczesnym systemom dowodzenia i łączności działającym na rzecz zapewnienia bezpieczeństwa i obronności morskiej jest realizacja odpowiedniej jakości usług podstawowych. Specyfika działania systemów morskich wymusza wykorzystanie wąskopasmowych środków łączności radiowej pracujących w zakresie KF i UKF. Odpowiednie waveformy wąskopasmowe pozwalają na realizację transmisji IP. W artykule przedstawione zostały wymagania stawiane środkom łączności radiowej KF i UKF w celu zapewnienia realizacji transmisji IP. Opisano podstawowe właściwości waveformów wąskopasmowych KF i UKF oraz sposób ich użycia w systemach morskich (scenariusze operacyjnego wykorzystania). Przedstawione zostały także wyniki badań eksperymentalnych (realizacja usług wąskopasmowych — głos i dane) oraz dalsze kierunki badań ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem udziału autorów artykułu w grupach roboczych NATO związanych z opracowaniem waveformów wąskopasmowych NBWF do łączności koalicyjnej.

    The article provides an overview of Brain Computer Interface (BCI) solutions for intelligent buildings. A significant topic from the smart cities point of view. That solution could be implemented as one of the human-building interfaces. The authors presented an analysis of the use of BCI in specific building systems. The article presents an analysis of BCI solutions in the context of controlling devices/systems included in the Building Management System (BMS). The Article confirms the possibility of using this method of communication between the user and the building’s central unit. Despite many confirmations of repeatable device inspections, the article presents the challenges faced by the commercialization of the solution in buildings.

    Opis:
    The invasive treatment of coronary artery disease (CAD) has been a well-established therapeutic method for many years. Bare-metal stents (BMS), followed by subsequent generations of drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation in a narrowed coronary artery is the most effective treatment, especially in patients with acute coronary syndromes. Restenosis and stent thrombosis are the most important complications of this method. The long-term results of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) depend not only on the type of the implanted stent, operator skills, but also on the clinical characteristics of the patient, including the size of the treated vessel. In the era of DES, small vessels (< 3 mm) proved to be one of the most important factors significantly worsening the clinical outcomes of PCI. Among the most important features of the stents available on the market, i.e. the type of drug released, the type of polymer and the strut thickness, the latter seems to be crucial, particularly for the treatment of small vessels.
    Inwazyjne leczenie choroby wieńcowej od wielu lat stanowi ugruntowaną metodę terapeutyczną. Implantacja najpierw stentów metalowych (BMS), a następnie kolejnych generacji stentów uwalniających leki (DES) w miejscu zwężonej tętnicy wieńcowej jest najskuteczniejszą metodą leczenia, zwłaszcza u pacjentów z ostrymi zespołami wieńcowymi. Restenoza i zakrzepica w stencie to główne powikłania tej metody. Wyniki odległe przezskórnej interwencji wieńcowej (PCI) zależą nie tylko od rodzaju implantowanego stentu, umiejętności operatora, lecz także od charakterystyki klinicznej pacjenta, w tym rozmiaru stentowanego naczynia. W erze stentów DES małe naczynia (< 3 mm) okazały się jednym z najważniejszych czynników w istotny sposób pogarszających rezultaty kliniczne PCI. Spośród najistotniejszych cech dostępnych na rynku stentów, tj. rodzaju uwalnianego leku, typu polimeru oraz grubości przęseł, ta ostatnia wydaje się kluczowa, szczególnie w przypadku leczenia małych naczyń.

    Most of the so far proposed Bonus–Malus Systems (BMSs) establish a premium only according to the number of accidents, without paying attention to the vehicle damage severity. [Frangos and Vrontos 2001] proposed the optimal BMS design based not only on the number of accidents of a policyholder, but also on the size of loss of each accident. In our work, we apply the approach presented by Frangos and Vrontos to construct the Bayesian confidence intervals for both the number of accidents and the amount of damage caused by these accidents. We also conduct some simulations in order to create tables of estimates for both the numbers and the sizes of losses and to compute the realizations of the corresponding Bayesian confidence intervals. We compare the results obtained by using our simulation studies with the appropriate results derived through an application of an asymmetric loss function and its certain modification.93-104
