Opis:
Bulgarian museums, which present the National Revival period, form a whole category of exhibitions, the specifics of which are recognizable to a wide range of audiences. Themessages in these museums are not entirely unknown; on the contrary - there are certain preliminary expectations for them, the answer to which leads to satisfaction from the visit. In the minds of many Bulgarians, visiting these exhibitions, as well as the satisfaction of this act, are "mandatory". The artefacts construct an idea of the dynamics of social development, in which the virtues of the "old" society are complemented by modern European ideas of the era, and innovations in the life of Bulgarians happen only for the better. The presence of the exhibits in the museums of the Bulgarian National Revival is completely subordinated to the general presentation idea. Their main function is to illustrate the specific topic - the photograph visualizes a figure or location, the document testifies to them truth, and the personal belonging evokes adoration. From this point of view, artefacts play a supporting rather than a catalytic role - instead of "items with history", museums show "history complemented by items".

Micro - artifacts are those fragments of anthropogenic origin, which are smaller than 2,0 mm in size, so the fragments, which go through the sieve during sifting of the material at the site. They represented fragments of bones, burnt clay, fragments of charcoal and micro-flakes of flints resulting from treatment of stone tools. The obtained results were used to draw profiles and maps of their distribution within the profile and anthropogenic trench. Obtained results were used to reconstruction of human activity in the selected areas of the site.

Archaeological research of the Magdalenian culture site with triangles were continued in 2003-2005. They concentrated in the north-western part of the site on a slope leading down to the original lowering. One obtained more than 7 thousand flint artefacts, essentially repeating forms known from previous seasons. However, no stone structures typical of the upper party of the site was discovered. Radiocarbon dates obtained agree well with the earlier ones.

I consider the problem of existence of virtual objects, mainly their mode of existence, while omitting the issue of the criteria of their existence. I present and analyze the concepts of modes (forms, kinds) of existence of virtual objects proposed in the literature of the subject, and then I demonstrate my own position on the issue. My position on the existence of virtual objects has certain points coinciding with the already postulated views, but at the same time it differs from them in some basic aspects. In my view virtual objects are “born” in human individual consciousness as the objects of specific creative states of the mind. So initially they are private objects belonging to the individual subjective sphere. However, their final and ready forms emerge in complex processes of objectifying and autonomizing the respective private conscious states and their objects. In these processes the private objects are transformed into objects intersubjectively accessible and existing in the collective cultural sphere. In both their forms, initial and final, virtual objects are non-material entities: first subjective, then objective. The ontic status of virtual objects is very similar to the status of intangible ideas and all the non-material objects created by the human mind. The main difference consists in that virtual objects are expressed by the use computers programmes, while other non-material objects created by human beings are expressed by use of words, pictures, literature and art works, etc.

Opis:
By 2019 more than 70 sites had been discovered in the area of the High Bieszczady Mountains, most of them located within the Połonina Wetlińska massif. The sites discovered in 2017-2019 constitute two groups: sites represented by (1) single artefacts (Wetlina 56, 57, 58, 59, 61, 63, 64, 65, Bukowska Pass, site 1) and (2) small series of artefacts (Wetlina 54, 55, 60, 62). Both groups include artefacts datable to the Late Neolithic and the Bronze Age. Moreover, there are no sufficient grounds to claim homogeneity of assemblages found in Wetlina 54, 55, 60 and 62. It is possible that at least some of these sites could have been used many times during the Late Neolithic and Bronze Age periods. These finds confirm seasonal use of the High Bieszczady for grazing animals, probably within a system similar to the transhumant pastoralism practiced in European mountains.

In this paper, the authors are showing a calculation of the road quality index called Simple Road Quality Index (SRQI) using the weight provided by the amateur drivers to best possibly rate their comfort on driving on that road. The index is calculated from acceleration data acquired by the smartphone application and is aggregated in a crowdsourcing system for the classification of road quality using the fuzzy membership function. The paper shows that the proposed index correctly shows road quality changes over time and may be used as a way to mark roads to be avoided or needs to be repaired. The numerical experiment was based on the same street in Lublin, Poland, in 2015-2021 and is correctly showing that the quality of analyzed roads deteriorated over time, especially in the winter season.

Among the wooden caskets with metal locks (a characteristic element of the furniture of graves of women in barbaricum) there is a distinguished group of finds with outstanding decoration made of large sheets of bronze covered with rich set of various punched motifs, fixed with vast amount of decorative, dome headed bronze nails. These caskets, similar in style, are known exclusively from the Przeworsk culture area (cemeteries in Opatów, Chmielów Piaskowy, Zamiechów, Kraków-Płaszów, and from the Tisa group cemetery in Badon “Doaşte”, in Romania). Fragments of bronze plates with similar motifs are known from a few other sites. They are dated to phase B2/C1 – C1 and can be treated as a very homogenous group, maybe even works of one craftsmen or workshop. The described ornamented caskets were found in graves with rich, however not outstanding, furniture. They can be treated as an attempt to imitate of wooden boxes with bronze decorative mounts known from the Roman Empire, however the motifs are deeply rooted in the local “barbarian” tradition. The ornamented caskets could have been a sign of special social status. Most interesting and really mysterious are figures on the plates from Kraków Płaszów presenting stylised complete human and animal representations.

Opis:
In 2020–2021, within the limits of Trójca – a medieval village located near a ford on the Vistula River that is today part of Zawichost – artefacts were sought with the use of metal detectors. Next, a survey excavation was conducted, resulting in the discovery of e.g. two silver hoards from the 11th and 12th c., single coins from the 11th–12th c. (over 140 specimens) and from later times, merchant’s weights, adornments, minor devotional articles and military accessories (especially from the 11th–13th c.) and many other artefacts. Their discovery makes us suspect that Trójca was one of the most important supralocal trade centres of Lesser Poland in the early Middle Ages. The conducted excavations and research are only the first stage for future archaeological prospections to be conducted in Trójca and will be continued in the years to come.

Opis:
The paper describes an inhumation burial (Grave 8) discovered at the cemetery of the Lublin- Volhynian culture at Site 2 in Książnice, Świętokrzyskie Province, in August 2008. A skeleton of an adultus woman, lying in a flexed position on the left side, with the skull directed towards the south, was discovered at the depth of 55–60 cm in a partly destroyed rectangular burial pit. The unusually rich grave goods consisted of ten ornaments made from copper wire (two necklaces with spectacle-shaped pendants, two bracelets, two earrings and two rings), a chocolate flint retouched blade and a blade, as well as fragments of two clay vessels: a pear-shaped amphora and a pear-shaped goblet. The analysed burial is a perfect example of changes taking place in the social structure of the younger Danubian cultures at the turn of the 5th and the 4th millennia BC. It shows that the elite controlling trade exchange and the distribution of prestige objects in the Lublin-Volhynian culture included also women of high social standing

Opis:
The excavations conducted at the Przeworsk culture settlement in Modlniczka, site no. 2, have provided an exceptional series of wooden artefacts, numbering in total 396 specimens. The marshy soil of the Wedonka river paleochannel is responsible for the good state of preservation of the wood, due to which a significant number of relics of wooden constructions were discovered Numerous posts were recorded, being remnants of constructions of pier type, a hut with a fragment of a ridge beam and relics of plaited walls, rectangular platforms made of beams and branches associated with an offering hole and, finally, two wells. The most common wooden artefacts are represented by construction elements of various sorts, such as: fragments of trunks or branches bearing traces of cutting or chipping, beams, pickets, laths. The most interesting, although scarce, were fragments of wooden portable objects. Amongst them, one should name: wooden swords for flax beating, a club, hooks, wooden pivots, a spoke, hexagonal boards, a beam and a lath with holes, an arch-shaped haft, a bowl, a semi-finished kneading-trough and a fragment of a spear shaft. As indicated by dendrochronological dating obtained for part of the wooden artefacts, they should be dated to the younger pre-Roman period (the 2nd–1st century BC).
Wśród nich warto wymienić: drewniane miecze do rozbijania lnu, pałkę, haki, czopy drewniane, szprychę koła, sześciokątne płyty, belkę i dranicę z otworami, łukowato ukształtowaną rękojeść, misę, półwytwór dzieży oraz fragment drzewca włóczni.

Opis:
The paper examines the usage of Convolutional Bidirectional Recurrent Neural Network (CBRNN) for a problem of quality measurement in a music content. The key contribution in this approach, compared to the existing research, is that the examined model is evaluated in terms of detecting acoustic anomalies without the requirement to provide a reference (clean) signal. Since real music content may include some modes of instrumental sounds, speech and singing voice or different audio effects, it is more complex to analyze than clean speech or artificial signals, especially without a comparison to the known reference content. The presented results might be treated as a proof of concept, since some specific types of artefacts are covered in this paper (examples of quantization defect, missing sound, distortion of gain characteristics, extra noise sound). However, the described model can be easily expanded to detect other impairments or used as a pre-trained model for other transfer learning processes. To examine the model efficiency several experiments have been performed and reported in the paper. The raw audio samples were transformed into Mel-scaled spectrograms and transferred as input to the model, first independently, then along with additional features (Zero Crossing Rate, Spectral Contrast). According to the obtained results, there is a significant increase in overall accuracy (by 10.1%), if Spectral Contrast information is provided together with Mel-scaled spectrograms. The paper examines also the influence of recursive layers on effectiveness of the artefact classification task.

Insignias of the ecclesiastical authority are a category of objects that in many respects stand out from other artefacts. Their impact on the viewer is (at least potentially) multi-layered, and the social functions performed by individual insignia, as previous research has shown, may vary significantly. This article attempts to answer the question about the appropriateness of drawing on the methodology used in social science, not only the humanities and liturgics, in research on insignias. The argument put forward is that these objects have been undergoing formal and semantic transformations in the last two centuries, thereby highlighting their social function, which can be demonstrated by research taking into account problems in the field of communication sciences, as well as the psychology and sociology of art.
