    The methodology and practice of Latin text editing is presented in the paper as an example of a humanities scholar’s work that combines scientific effort with artistic activity, including forgery of works by old masters. Part one outlines the methodological situation in textual criticism in the 1960s and 1970s, when the author was a university student and novice researcher. Next, the author considers what caused changes in editing methodology in subsequent decades and, finally, he comments on present-day debates surrounding the role of the academic editor, with a special focus on the interdisciplinary aspects of this issue.

    During the long nineteenth century, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Antwerp – just like many other art schools in this period – assembled a collection of some 500 plaster casts after ancient and modern sculptures, which played an essential role in the education of young art students. The creation of such collections went in parallel with the blossoming of cast museums all over Europe, as well as the emergence of a large-scale exchange network set up to facilitate the international dissemination of plaster casts. However, in contrast to cast museums, which brought together masterpieces of classical Western sculpture in order to contribute to the aesthetic edification of the public, the cast collections of art academies had a more pragmatic and didactic function. This article focuses on cast collections at art academies, and how the formation and functioning of such collections related to broader educational concepts and practices at these schools. Taking the collection of plaster casts at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Antwerp as a case study, we will trace the various actors, methods and strategies employed to create the collection, uncover how the collection related to the artistic idea(l)s expressed in the educational programme of that institution, and discuss how and where it was located and displayed. Based on the rich archives of the academy, it examines a broad range of different sources, including purchase lists, inventories and correspondence concerning the formation of the collection, as well as floor plans, photographs and original drawings attesting to the location and use of the casts. It traces the provenance of the objects, analyzes the profiles of the individuals and institutions involved in creating the collection, and identifies to what extent and how creative repurposing played a role in the collection’s functioning. The article argues how cast collections formed by art academies – in addition to representing the art historical canon of a given place or period – are an important reflection of the didactic practices, aesthetic priorities and, above all, the creative encounters that distinguish these institutions from the purposes of the public (cast) museum.

    Purpose of this article is to analyze carriers and internship office, within a context of business behaviors among students and graduates. This work encompasses: a definition of academic business, institutional forms of students’ entrepreneurship creation, chosen results of empirical research of professional activity among students and efforts of carrier and internship office at Jan Długosz University (AJD) in Czestochowa. The research was based on a method of personal interview and on analysis of carrier office reports. Afterwards, wide-ranging analysis was conducted, and within a context of this analysis there was a description of operations which strengthened professional activity of students and graduates.
    Celem publikacji jest analiza działalności Biura Praktyk i Karier w kontekście zachowań przedsiębiorczych studentów i absolwentów. Przedstawiono definicje przedsiębiorczości akademickiej, instytucjonalne formy kreowania przedsiębiorczości studenckiej, zaprezentowano wybrane wyniki badań empirycznych aktywności zawodowej studentów oraz działalność Biura Praktyk i Karier Akademii im. Jana Długosza w Częstochowie. Badania przeprowadzono w oparciu o metodę indywidualnego wywiadu oraz analizę raportów Biura Karier. Następnie dokonano wielostronnych analiz w kontekście, których zaproponowano działania wzmacniające aktywizację zawodową studentów i absolwentów.

    XXIII Międzynarodowy Kongres Historii Sztuki, który odbył się w Granadzie w 1973 r., stanowił punkt zwrotny w stosunkach między historykami sztuki z Hiszpanii czasów generała Franco i ich kolegami z PRL. Pierwsze kontakty zostały nawiązane już w latach 50. XX w. dzięki wyjazdom Jana Białostockiego i Lecha Kalinowskiego m.in. do Madrytu i Barcelony. Ich wzmocnienie nastąpiło w latach 60. dzięki organizacji dwóch wystaw poświęconych sztuce hiszpańskiej w Krakowie i Poznaniu. Dopiero jednak kongres w Granadzie pozwolił polskiej delegacji zyskać nowe istotne doświadczenia. Artykuł analizuje polsko-hiszpańskie relacje w zakresie historii sztuki, które wcześniej pomijano zapewne ze względu na „peryferyjne” położenie polskiej i hiszpańskiej historii sztuki w geografii dyscypliny z okresu zimnej wojny.
    The 23rd CIHA Congress, held in Granada in 1973, marked a turning point in the relationships between art historians who carried out their professional activity in the Polish People’s Republic and Franco’s Spain. First contacts began as early as the 1950s, thanks to Jan Białostocki and Lech Kalinowski’s trips to Madrid and Barcelona, among other cities, strengthened in the 1960s by the organisation of two exhibitions in Cracow and Poznań devoted to Spanish art. Nevertheless, the Granada congress became a new experience for the Polish delegation. This paper aims to delve into these contacts that have not been taken into consideration before, perhaps due to the “peripheral” position of both historiographies in the geography of the history of art history during the Cold War.

    On 27 May 2019, we bid farewell to Józef Poklewski, a trusted Colleague and Friend, professor at the Nicolaus Copernicus University (UMK) in Toruń. Born in Kowalewo in the Vilnius Region, following WWII, orphaned by his father Władysław, he moved to Giżycko with his mother Emilia, with whom he felt a strong bond until the very last days. This was his individual feature: the long-lasting character of and reliability in relationships. Following the studies in history of art at the University of Poznań, he became assistant lecturer at UMK, with which he was bonded throughout all of his academic and scientific career. He remained strongly influenced by his teacher and mentor Gwidon Chmarzyński, professor at both universities. In his research Poklewski initially concentrated on Baroque art (doctoral dissertation on the Marian Jesuit Sanctuary at Święta Lipka), gradually more intensely focusing on the topic of the history of art and artistic life, as well as education in art, history of art, and conservation in Vilnius (post-doctoral dissertation) and in Toruń. An appreciated and dedicated lecturer, at UMK Józef Poklewski performed the function of the head of the Department of the History of Mediaeval and Modern Art, and of the Director of the Institute of Monument and Conservation Expertise; furthermore, he was the University’s Senate member. Actively participating in the scientific life, he was tutor of graduate theses, as well as of doctoral dissertations, reviewing also post-doctoral ones; moreover, he organized scientific conferences. Poklewski strongly committed himself to the activities of the Toruń Scientific Society and the Association of Art Historians (beginning from the Secretary, to the President of the Toruń Branch, member of the Main Board, finally becoming its Deputy President). Furthermore, he sat on Museum Boards: at the National Museum in Gdańsk, District Museum in Toruń, and the Leon Wyczółkowski District Museum in Bydgoszcz. Prof. Józef Poklewski died in Toruń, and was buried there, too.
    27 maja 2019 r. pożegnaliśmy Józefa Poklewskiego, wypróbowanego Kolegę i Przyjaciela, profesora Uniwersytetu Mikołaja Kopernika w Toruniu. Urodził się w Kowalewie na Wileńszczyźnie. Po II wojnie światowej, osierocony przez ojca Władysława, przeniósł się do Giżycka wraz z matką Emilią, z którą był do końca silnie związany. To była cecha Jego charakteru – trwałość związków, niezawodność w relacjach. Po studiach w zakresie historii sztuki na Uniwersytecie w Poznaniu objął asystenturę na Uniwersytecie Mikołaja Kopernika, z którym był związany przez całą swą karierę akademicką i naukową. Pozostawał pod wielkim wpływem swojego nauczyciela i mentora, Gwidona Chmarzyńskiego, profesora na obydwu tych uczelniach. Początkowo w swych badaniach koncentrował się na sztuce barokowej (dysertacja doktorska o jezuickim sanktuarium maryjnym w Świętej Lipce), stopniowo coraz intensywniej zajmował się tematyką dziejów sztuki i życia artystycznego oraz edukacji w zakresie sztuki, historii sztuki i konserwatorstwa w Wilnie (rozprawa habilitacyjna) oraz w Toruniu. Józef Poklewski był cenionym i oddanym wykładowcą, pełnił na UMK funkcje kierownika Zakładu Historii Sztuki Średniowiecznej i Nowożytnej oraz dyrektora Instytutu Zabytkoznawstwa i Konserwatorstwa, zasiadał także w senacie uczelni. Aktywnie uczestniczył w życiu naukowym – jako promotor prac magisterskich i doktorskich, recenzent takich prac oraz rozpraw habilitacyjnych, organizator sesji naukowych. Był szczególnie zaangażowanym członkiem Toruńskiego Towarzystwa Naukowego oraz Stowarzyszenia Historyków Sztuki (od funkcji sekretarza, następnie prezesa Oddziału Toruńskiego, członka Zarządu Głównego i wreszcie wiceprezesa). Był członkiem Rad Muzealnych przy Muzeum Narodowym w Gdańsku, Muzeum Okręgowym w Toruniu i Muzeum Okręgowym im. Leona Wyczółkowskiego w Bydgoszczy. Profesor Józef Poklewski zmarł i został pochowany w Toruniu.
