Wall-stabilized arcs are commonly used as excitation sources of atoms and low charged ions. Distributions of plasma parameters in the gap between two subsequent stabilizing plates were studied in argon and helium which are commonly used as 'working gas' in experiments aimed at determination of atomic constants. The results were obtained solving set of equations describing plasma in local thermal equilibrium (LTE). As conditions of LTE may be not completely fulfilled obtained absolute values obtained by this method could be deviated from the real one. Nevertheless, the shape of spatial plasma parameters distributions ought to properly represent shape of the plasma. Obtained results reveal very small gradients of plasma parameters in the central part of this gap. This result can be important in future planning of experiments with side-on plasma observation.

A symmetric, idempotent, continuous binary operation on a space is called a mean. In this paper, we provide a criterion for the non-existence of mean on a certain class of continua which includes tree-like continua. This generalizes a result of Bell and Watson. We also prove that any hereditarily indecomposable circle-like continuum admits no mean.

Opis:
This paper presents and discusses results of analysis and investigations of arc to glow transformation phenomenon at contact opening, under DC inductive loads of low power (≤10 J) and low voltage (≤250 V). The proportion in duration of arcing and glowing is investigated in dependence on current and voltage value, contact material properties. The transition phenomenon is analyzed by means of fast photography and emission spectroscopy to complete the study. On the basis of investigated results the conclusions about the possibility of control of the arc to glow transformation for practical use in DC low voltage and low power electrical grids are formulated.

In this paper, experimental results are presented on study of the copper thermionic vacuum arc using emissive probe. Experimental results show that plasma potential is direct related to the discharge voltage and it shows nonlinear distribution from the anodic melted spot towards to the plasma extremity.

An arc-coloured digraph D = (V,A) is said to be rainbow connected if for every pair {u, v} ⊆ V there is a directed uv-path all whose arcs have different colours and a directed vu-path all whose arcs have different colours. The minimum number of colours required to make the digraph D rainbow connected is called the rainbow connection number of D, denoted rc⃗ (D). A cactus is a digraph where each arc belongs to exactly one directed cycle. In this paper we give sharp upper and lower bounds for the rainbow connection number of a cactus and characterize those cacti whose rainbow connection number is equal to any of those bounds. Also, we calculate the rainbow con- nection numbers of some infinite digraphs and graphs, and present, for each n ≥ 6, a tournament of order n and rainbow connection number equal to 2.

Influent factors on dynamic properties of the a.c. electric arc steelmaking arc furnaces- were shown in the paper. In the simplified furnace circuit model to be applied the dynamic arc model. The whole problem described using the equations system of thermodynamic and electric magnitudes. Finally gave advices how to qualify parameters of models and showed courses of temporary electric magnitudes.
W artykule przedstawiono czynniki wpływające na właściwości dynamiczne tuku elektrycznego stalowniczych pieców łukowych prądu przemiennego. W uproszczony model obwodu pieca włączono dynamiczny model luku. Całość opisano układem równań wielkości termodynamicznych i elektrycznych. Podano wskazówki sposobu określania parametrów modeli i zaprezentowano przebiegi czasowe wielkości elektrycznych.

A function ƒ : A → { — 1, +1} is said to be a signed arc total dominating function (SATDF) of D if [formula] holds for every arc uv ∈ A. The signed arc total domination number [formula] is defined as [formula]. In this paper we initiate the study of the signed arc total domination in digraphs and present some lower bounds for this parameter.

Let $ D = (V (D),A(D)) $ be a strongly connected digraph. An arc set $ S \subseteq A(D) $ is a restricted arc-cut of $D$ if $ D − S$ has a non-trivial strong component $ D_1 $ such that $ D − V (D_1)$ contains an arc. The restricted arc-connectivity $ \lambda^‘(D) $ is the minimum cardinality over all restricted arc-cuts of $D$. In [C. Balbuena, P. García-Vázquez, A. Hansberg and L.P. Montejano, On the super-restricted arc-connectivity of s-geodetic digraphs, Networks 61 (2013) 20-28], Balbuena et al. introduced the concept of super-$ \lambda^' $ digraphs. In this paper, we first introduce the concept of the arc fault tolerance of a digraph $D$ on the super-$ \lambda^‘ $ property. We define a super-$ \lambda^′ $ digraph $D$ to be $m$-super-$ \lambda^‘ $ if $D − S $ is still super-$ \lambda^‘ $ for any $ S \subseteq A(D) $ with $ |S| \le m $. The maximum value of such $m$, denoted by $S_{ \lambda^’ } (D) $, is said to be the arc fault tolerance of $D$ on the super-$ \lambda^‘$ property. $ S_{ \lambda^’ } (D) $ is an index to measure the reliability of networks. Next we provide a necessary and sufficient condition for the Cartesian product of regular digraphs to be super-$ \lambda^‘ $. Finally, we give the lower and upper bounds on $ S_{ \lambda^’ } (D) $ for the Cartesian product $D$ of regular digraphs and give an example to show that the lower and upper bounds are best possible. In particular, the exact value of $ S_{ \lambda^’ } (D) $ is obtained in special cases.

This article discusses plasma cutting technology and its influences on the quality of the resulting cut. Plasma or a plasma arch consists of positive and negatively charged particles, excited and neutral atoms and molecules. As it contains free particles, it is electrically conductive and thus subject to the effects of the electrical and magnetic field. The basis of CNC machine design is described in the article, which has at least 3 axes (x, y, z), but there are also more technologically demanding applications, such as pipe cutting, profile and cutting using chamfer to prepare surfaces for welding, where these multi-axis devices are frequently used. The principle of plasma cutting and the plasma cutting phase is described in this article. The materials that can be divided by a plasma arc are described in detail, including graphs displaying the dependence of sheet thickness on the cutting speed. The article describes and lists the gases that are used in plasma-arc cutting, such as oxygen, argon, hydrogen and nitrogen. Important components of plasma cutting technology are the parameters that can be adjusted and set before the cutting so that the cut is of good quality. The most comprehensive chapter deals with the influences that affect plasma cutting quality. Cutting quality can be influenced by a number of factors. Everything starts with the proper choice of a CNC machine and a plasma source. The quality also depends on the expertise and experience of the machine operator and the setting of the plasma cutting parameters. This issue of influences on the plasma cutting quality is based on long-term experience in the field of the thermal cutting process.

The orientation distance graph ₒ(G) of a graph G is defined as the graph whose vertex set is the pair-wise non-isomorphic orientations of G, and two orientations are adjacent iff the reversal of one edge in one orientation produces the other. Orientation distance graphs was introduced by Chartrand et al. in 2001. We provide new results about orientation distance graphs and simpler proofs to existing results, especially with regards to the bipartiteness of orientation distance graphs and the representation of orientation distance graphs using hypercubes. We provide results concerning the orientation distance graphs of paths, cycles and other common graphs.

Opis:
Results of 3-D of discharge channel displacement simulation, acquired by means of the Fluent program during one current half-period of AC arc, indicate that the obtained images of the phenomenon are qualitatively similar to those, recorded with a high-speed digital camera, while the computer simulation enables much a more comprehensive analysis of the acquired data. In addition to selected arc simulation frames and corresponding distributions of mass velocity vectors and current density vectors on a plane, the distributions of temperature, current density and mass velocity values are presented on the axis of the electrode arrangement model. The composite motion (continuous and jumping) of discharge channels was analyzed, taking into account mass displacement and matter state changes.

This work deals with an analytic-graphical method of construction approximated developments of optional length circular arcs on a straight line. Such problems often appear in the engineering, designing and workshop practices. The method presented by A. Kochański [1] concerns the development of an arc of one-half of a circle, while methods given by S. Polański, A.A. Kowalewski and J. Daniluk [2] as well, as by the author [3] bring approximated results, where the range of measuring errors is 0,1% to 0,6% (for methods included in the work [2]), and 0,0005% to 0,15% (in relation to the work [3]). The solution included in the hitherto elaboration is based on the implementation of a curve - circumference (circular [4]) projection for transformation of final points of given circular arc onto final points of its development on a straight line. The work treats about the geometric idea with it’s justification, which is a base of the (called here) analytic-graphical method. The work presents also a practical part of this method. Presented method gives an accuracy up to 0,052% of length of measured arcs.

The paper presents a computer system dedicated to simulation of the TIG welding process. The main functionality of the system, i.e. support and facilitation of design of welding technology, will be obtained through flexible combination of the modular architecture of the numerical library and optimization procedures. The TIG heat source model and a structure of a computer system is described. The analysis of phenomena occurring in welded material is important for a selection of optimal process parameters. This contributes to improvement of the product reliability. Particular attention is focused on the development of a reliable numerical model of TIG welding for the linear joint. All process parameters are identified and gathered together in one complex database. The phenomenological heat source model is validated by comparison of evaluated temperatures in a discrete pint with experimental measurements. The validated heat source model is used as the main part of a computer system supporting TIG welding. The architecture of this computer system as well as details of implementation are described in the paper.
