Opis:
The aim of the experiments was to evaluate the effect of Sekator 6,25 WG used for broad leaved weeds control in winter and spring cereals. Sekator 6.25 WG herbicide is composed of iodosulfuron 1.25%, amidosulfuron 5% and mephenpyr diethyl 12.5%. The field trials were conducted over the period 1997-1999 at experimental station, which belonged to the Institute of Plant Protection. The results showed that Sekator 6,25 WG effectively controled Galium aparine, Anthemis arvensis, Myosotis arvensis, Chenopodium album, Polygonum sp., Sinapis arvensis, Stellaria media, Capsela bursa-pastoris, Thlaspi arvense and Lamium purpureum. The obtained yield of winter and spring cereals was increased by Sekator 6,25 WG application. Sekator 6,25 WG herbicide used in all experiments was safe for both winter and spring cereals.
Badania polowe nad biologiczną oceną herbicydu Sekator 6,25 WG przeprowadzono w latach 1997-1999 w Rolniczym Zakładzie Doświadczalnym w Winnej Górze, Terenowej Stacji Doświadczalnej w Trzebnicy i Sośnicowicach. Herbicyd Sekator 6,25 WG jako substancję biologicznie czynną zawiera 1,25% jodosulfuronu, 5% amidosulfuronu i 12,5% mefenpyr diethylu jako sejfnera. Herbicyd stosowano wiosną w pełni krzewienia zbóż w dawkach: 0,15; 0,2; 0,25 i 0,3 kg/ha. Uzyskane wyniki wskazują, że Sekator 6,25 WG skutecznie zwalczał : Galium aparine, Anthemis arvensis, Myosotis arvensis, Chenopodium album, Polygonum sp., Sinapis arvensis, Stellaria media, Capsela bursa-pastoris, Thlaspi arvense i Lamium purpureum.

Opis:
This paper contains a critical edition and philological analysis of Isa 44:6–45:25, which were worked out primarily on the basis of the Coptic manuscript sa 52.2 and other available manuscripts of the Sahidic dialect. Particular attention is paid to these verses since they occur only in manuscript sa 52.2 and so far have never been published. The first part presents general information on the fragment of codex sa 52 (M 568) that includes the discussed text. The next part provides a list and brief characteristics of the other manuscripts containing at least some verses of Isa 44:6–45:25. The focal section of the paper is a presentation of the Coptic text (in the Sahidic dialect) and its translation into English. The differences between the Sahidic text and the Greek text of the Septuagint, on which the Coptic translation is based, have been pointed out in tables. They include additions and omissions in the Coptic translation, lexical changes, and semantic differences. Finally, the paper is devoted to difficult philological questions observed in the Coptic text itself or in its references to the Greek text of the LXX.

Opis:
Objectives. Recent epidemiological studies suggested an association between a poor vitamin D [25(OH)D] status, inflammatory mediators, and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). We have recently proposed that pro-inflammatory interleukin 6 (IL-6) may represent a good marker for disease activity of RA. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between serum 25(OH)D levels and disease activity, joint damage, as well as serum IL-6 levels in a Polish RA population. Materials and Methods. Serum 25(OH)D levels were measured in 35 female RA patients and 38 age- and gender-matched healthy controls. Statistical correlations between 25(OH)D levels and the disease activity score 28 (DAS 28), joint damage based on the Steinbrocker criteria, as well as serum IL-6 levels were performed. Results. There was no statistically significant difference between levels of 25(OH)D in RA (16.89±8.57 ng/ml) and healthy controls (14.12±7.51 ng/ml), and the vitamin D deficiency (<20 ng/ml) was found in 71.43% of RA patients and 73.68 % of healthy controls. While vitamin D status did not correlate with DAS 28 (r=0.265, p=0.149) and joint damage based on the Steinbrocker criteria (r=0.367, p=0.065), a positive correlation between 25(OH)D and IL-6 (r=0.537, p=0.002) was observed in RA. Conclusion. Although further studies on a larger group of patients will be needed to confirm the data presented here, it seems that hypovitaminosis D is common in the RA patients and middle-aged non-RA healthy women in the Polish population. 25(OH)D levels were similar in the RA patients and age- and gender-matched healthy controls, and were not associated with joint damage and disease activity in patients.

Opis:
This article presents the results of investigations on HR6W alloy and Sanicro 25 steel and the dissimilar welded joint made of them. The characteristic images of microstructure of the investigated materials in the as-received condition and following the creep test, observed with a scanning electron microscope (SEM), are shown. The X-ray analysis of phase composition of the existing precipitates was carried out. The method for evaluation of creep strength based on abridged creep tests carried out at a temperature higher than the design one is presented. The obtained results do not deviate from the values of creep strength determined in long-term creep tests. The maximum difference in creep strength of the investigated materials is ±20%, which is in compliance with the acceptable scatter band. The methodology presented can be used for verification of creep strength (life time) of the material of finished components to be operated under creep conditions.

Opis:
In this paper we analyzed the following model: a thin slab with Kerr nonlinearity placed between two semi-infinite samples of linear and nonmagnetic materials. A general relation between the bidirectional group delay and the dwell time is derived for the thin slab. It is shown that the group delay is equal to the dwell time plus a self-interference delay. Particular attention is given to solving the Helmholtz equation for this case. Detailed and rigorous treatment revealed that the solutions of the Helmholtz equation are given via elliptic functions of the first kind. The boundary conditions at the interfaces are determined precisely. Finally, we provide an overall procedure for numerical calculation of the dwell times.

Opis:
Synthetic analogs of vitamin D for potential use in differentiation therapy should selectively regulate genes necessary for differentiation without inducing any perturbations in calcium homeostasis. PRI-1906, an analog of vitamin D2, and PRI-2191, an analog of vitamin D3 bind nuclear vitamin D receptor (nVDR) with substantially lower affinity than 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25-D3), but have higher differentiation-inducing activity as estimated in HL-60 leukemia cell model. To examine how their increased differentiation-inducing activity is regulated we tested the hypothesis that membrane-mediated events, unrelated to nVDR, take part in the differentiation in response to PRI-1906 and PRI-2191. The induction of leukemia cell differentiation in response to the analogs of vitamin D was inhibited by LY294002 (phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase inhibitor), PD98059 (inhibitor of MEK1,2, an upstream regulator of extracellular-signal regulated kinase) and rapamycin (p70S6K inhibitor) pointing out that activation of signal transduction pathways unrelated to nVDR is necessary for differentiation. On the other hand, inhibition of cytosolic phospholipase A2 accelerated the differentiation of HL-60 cells induced by either 1,25-D3 or by the vitamin D analogs suggesting possible existence of a feedback loop between extracellular-signal regulated kinases and phospholipase A2.
