Opis:
We have been studying the high-precision three-dimensional measurement system using cameras. In this paper, our system is verified, and its application is reported. The principle of our measurement system is based on the stereo measurement. In our system, reducing the quantization error by numerical processing can realize the highprecision 3D measurement at the long distance. This measurement system has many applications, such as industrial use, ITS, robotics, and many others. Our system has been applied on the observation of the glacier. The Perito Moreno glacier, which is our target, moves very fast and the moving speed is reported as about 2 m/day. Then, it is thought that the important information about the global warming can be obtained by observing this glacier. But, as the width of the glacier is several km, there were no reports of continuously observing the movement of the glacier in high accuracy. As a result, the unique observation results about the daily movement of the glacier were measured. The observation of the glacier flow was carried out for the third straight year. In this paper, the valuable results of the glacier observation and experimental results to verify the precision are discussed.

The proper interaction of bone tissue - the natural porous biomaterial - with a porous coated intra-osseous implant is conditioned, among others, by the implant porous coating poroaccessibility for bone tissue adaptive ingrowth. The poroaccessibility is the ability of implant porous coating outer layer to accommodate the ingrowing bone tissue filling in its pore space and effective new formed bone mineralizing in the pores to form a biomechanically functional bone-implant fixation. The functional features of the microtopography of intra-osseous implant porous surfaces together with the porosity of pore space of the outer layer of the porous coating are called by bioengineers the porostructural-osteoconductive properties of the porous coated implant. The properties are crucial for successful adaptive bone tissue ingrowth and further long-term (secondary) biomechanical stability of the boneimplant interface. The poroaccessibility of intra-osseous implants porous coating outer layers is characterized by - the introduced in our previous papers - set of stereometric parameters of poroaccessibility: the effective volumetric porosity φVef, the index of the porous coating space capacity VPM, the representative surface porosity φSrep, the representative pore size pSrep, the representative angle of the poroaccessibility Ωrep and the bone-implant interface adhesive surface enlargement index ψ. Presented in this paper, an original method of evaluation of the porostructural-osteoconductive properties of intra-osseous implant porous coatings outer layer by means of the parameters of poroaccessibility was preliminary verified during experimental tests performed on the representative examples of porous coated femoral stems and acetabular cups of various hip endoprostheses. The computer-aided stereometric evaluation of the microstructure of implant porous coatings outer layer can be now realized by the authoring application software PoroAccess_1.0 elaborated in our research team in Java programming language.

The paper presents problem of selecting the measuring method of geometric structure of the surface formed by laser beam in damper. Measurements in 2D system, in the context of value and giving satisfactory results need to be verified in 3D. This is due to the fact, that the surface after the laser machining is specific. Although, you can choose the machining options that allow to obtain a certain roughness of the surface, but there is no information about its spatial structure. Such information includes a description of the structure made in 3D system.
Takie informacje zawiera opis struktury wykonany w układzie 3D.

Opis:
The three-dimensional (3D) coordinate measurement of radio frequency identification (RFID) multi-tag networks is one of the important issues in the field of RFID, which affects the reading performance of RFID multi-tag networks. In this paper, a novel method for 3D coordinate measurement of RFID multi-tag networks is proposed. A dual-CCD system (vertical and horizontal cameras) is used to obtain images of RFID multi-tag networks from different angles. The iterative threshold segmentation and the morphological filtering method are used to process the images. The template matching method is respectively used to determine the two-dimensional (2D) coordinate and the vertical coordinate of each tag. After that, the 3D coordinate of each tag is obtained. Finally, a back-propagation (BP) neural network is used to model the nonlinear relationship between the RFID multi-tag network and the corresponding reading distance. The BP neural network can predict the reading distances of unknown tag groups and find out the optimal distribution structure of the tag groups corresponding to the maximum reading distance. In the future work, the corresponding in-depth research on the neural network to adjust the distribution of tags will be done.

The term optical profilometry is used in relation to a group of methods used in a rapid, non-destructive, and non-contact assessment of surface topography. Those methods play a significant role in the area of a modern advanced laboratory and industrial 3D measurements. With the development of profilometric methods, a large progress in the construction of optical profilometric instruments and measuring sensors used in them, including confocal sensors based on the chromatic light aberration phenomenon (CLA) has been observed for several years. The paper shows that the Talysurf CLI 2000 multisensory optical profilometer equipped with a CLA sensor can be used in high-accuracy 3D measurements of the uncirculated and circulated coins. The assessment of such type objects characterized by a high variability of altitude can be extremely helpful in analyzing the actual metrological properties of measuring equipment used in their measurements.

Opis:
A lightering operation is a type of Ship-To-Ship (STS) operation where two ships are together in open waters and transfer the cargo e.g. crude oil, LNG. High skills and experience are required by the human operators as no relevant equipment for determining the relative speeds and distances with sufficient accuracies has been implemented. The officer in charge of an STS lightering takes the decision on adequate maneuvering orders based on predominantly visual observations during the final approach. Landing on all fenders simultaneously is an objective in order to minimize ship-fender contact forces, but this is rather difficult to achieve in practice even in calm sea due to the effect of hydrodynamic interaction when the ships are closing in. Furthermore, currents that are present in the lightering zone add to the operational complexity. A field measurement experiment has been carried out with a Velocity Information GPS (VI-GPS) system installed onboard a ferry approaching port for berthing which is similar to an STS lightering. The paper proposes to apply VI-GPS as input sensor to a decision-support and guidance system aiming to provide accurate velocity information to the officer in charge of an STS operation. It is argued that DOP of VI-GPS is related to the velocity error.

Next, it presents the thermovisual measurementscarried out on 3D printed samples (FDM method - fused deposition modelling) of these materials. The temperature zones that occurred during printing were determined. The geometrical dimensions of samples from the same material that were printed under different conditions were compared. The height of the printed object has a large influence on temperature distribution on its surface and the printing time does not differ significantly when printing with PLA or ABS.

Opis:
The hereby article presents the results of an R&D project implemented by the company Terramap. The result of the project is a measuring device for 3D digitization, enabling data acquisition and processing. A characteristic feature of the system is automatic acquisition of information on both object geometry (spatial digitization), as well as color information in the RGB color space on this object (high resolution digital photos). Software dedicated for the device allows for planning and controlling the data acquisition process and their processing, as well as development of the materials ready for presentation. Implementation of the results of the conducted tests by means of constructing a device on their basis with accompanying software enabled significant acceleration of the digitization works, and consequently reduction of unit costs of 3D digitization. In order to assess the geometric quality of the 3D models obtained automatically by the device reference measurements were performed for the selected objects. Such measurements were carried out using two methods: first the geometry of the tests objects was measured by means of a handheld 3D scanner Artec Eva, second a direct manual measurement of the characteristic dimensions of the test objects was performed using a caliper. The 3D models obtained from the RevoScan device and 3D scanner Artec Eva were fitted into each other, and then compared using tools available in the Geomagic Qualify software in modules Alignment and Analysis. Whereas the results of the manual measurements of the characteristic dimensions of the test objects were compared with the results of measurements of the same features carried out on the 3D models obtained from the RevoScan device. The obtained results represented in the form of tables and graphs. The performed tests confirm achieving the model accuracy better than 0.3 mm assumed in the project.
Uzyskane modele 3D z urządzenia RevoScan i skanera 3D Artec Eva wpasowano w siebie, a następnie porównano za pomocą narzędzi oprogramowania Geomagic Qualify – moduły Alignment i Analysis. Wyniki manualnych pomiarów wymiarów charakterystycznych obiektów porównano z wynikami pomiarów tych samych cech zrealizowanymi na uzyskanych modelach 3D z urządzenia RevoScan. Uzyskane wyniki przedstawiono w formie tabel i wykresów. Wykonane badania potwierdzają osiągnięcie dokładności modelu lepszej niż 0,3 mm założonej w projekcie.

Undisturbed collection of current from a contact wire of the catenary constitutes one of the basic elements in reliable operation of electrified rail transport, particularly when vehicles move at high speed. Quality of current collection is influenced by the construction of catenary and current collectors, as well as by the technical condition and regulation of these two elements. Total contact force of a current collector head on contact line and the condition of contact strip surface determine the quality of the contact between a current collector and contact line. This paper presents an innovative stand for diagnosing contact strips on current collectors with the use of 3D imaging technique. The stand has been tested in laboratory and during trial exploitation on a railway line. Implementation potential of the proposed method has been confirmed.

The technical condition of current collector contact strips is very important when operational reliability of railway transportation is considered. The authors proposed a novel measurement system based on a 3D camera to register the shape and dimensions of the current collector contact strips surface. The system was installed above the railway track for tests in target ambient. During the trial operation a few dozen of contact strips 3D-profiles were recorded for the locomotives which passed the test point. The collected results vary widely, particularly with regard to the position and tilt of the obtained profiles. This variety makes the surface analysis more complex. Therefore, an automatic method for normalization of the registered profiles was introduced. Standardized profiles are compared with the pattern of a new contact strip in order to estimate their wear. Summary of scanning and analysis results confirm the possibility of commercial use of the introduced system.

Modern 3D scanners can measure the geometry with high accuracy and within a short time. In turn, currently produced CNC machine tools allow for very accurate manufacturing; however, processes beyond the machining cycle remain time-consuming. This paper presents the idea and experimental tests of the scanning system in the CNC machine, which allows to speed up on-machine measurements, align clouds of 3D data points with an accuracy close to that of the machine itself, and finally set the workpiece coordinate system for machining. This modern approach is in line with Industry 4.0, combining the terms of data processing, machine vision, manufacturing automation, and human-machine interfaces. The future implementation of the proposed system as an interchangeable tool will allow performing autonomous measurements, inspection, and supervision of the workspace, without engaging the machine operator. The system calibration and experimental results using the industrial 3D scanner and CNC machine are described.

Opis:
3D optical scanning method, is employed to digital shape and geometric dimension analysis of fuel tanks. The following paper presents the application possibilities of the optical 3D measurement method for measuring and archiving dimensions of geometrically complex parts, on the example of a passenger car fuel tank in local company. Based on the conducted measurements, for a specific type and size of the population of fuel tanks, proposed model that classifies the geometric accuracy of the tanks produced in the production line. For the analysis and data processing different informatics techniques have been used. The main objective of theirs was to identify the possibility of implementing the system for automation of the measurement to the production line. The measurements were implementation at local company - a manufacturer of polymer tanks in the automotive industry. For most of the measuring points, the mean value of the measuring deviations ranged from -1 mm to +1 mm. The mean values of the standard deviations are presented for a representative deviation of the X dimension of 0.1; 5; 10; 15 and 20 mm were respectively: 0.014; 0.150; 0.172; 0.289; 0.340 mm. The dimensional shape assessment of the manufactured tanks is extremely important from the point of view of the automation of this task in the production line. The optimization of the measurement of tanks carried out in laboratory conditions was implemented on the production line. The main task of optical scanning for the assessment of dimensional conformity has not been used so far in factory. This is due not only to the cost of such systems, but also to certain limitations that have been resolved thanks to laboratory tests. The obtained results of the metrological inspection make it possible to identify significant dimensional and shape deviations of automatically manufactured tanks. The proposed use of artificial neural networks allows the production with a high quality of tanks accuracy with the minimum the number of scanned tanks in the production line. The paper also presents the possibilities of the computer software to analyze the deviations of geometrically very complex parts.
