Opis:
Undisturbed collection of current from a contact wire of the catenary constitutes one of the basic elements in reliable operation of electrified rail transport, particularly when vehicles move at high speed. Quality of current collection is influenced by the construction of catenary and current collectors, as well as by the technical condition and regulation of these two elements. Total contact force of a current collector head on contact line and the condition of contact strip surface determine the quality of the contact between a current collector and contact line. This paper presents an innovative stand for diagnosing contact strips on current collectors with the use of 3D imaging technique. The stand has been tested in laboratory and during trial exploitation on a railway line. Implementation potential of the proposed method has been confirmed.

Opis:
The technical condition of current collector contact strips is very important when operational reliability of railway transportation is considered. The authors proposed a novel measurement system based on a 3D camera to register the shape and dimensions of the current collector contact strips surface. The system was installed above the railway track for tests in target ambient. During the trial operation a few dozen of contact strips 3D-profiles were recorded for the locomotives which passed the test point. The collected results vary widely, particularly with regard to the position and tilt of the obtained profiles. This variety makes the surface analysis more complex. Therefore, an automatic method for normalization of the registered profiles was introduced. Standardized profiles are compared with the pattern of a new contact strip in order to estimate their wear. Summary of scanning and analysis results confirm the possibility of commercial use of the introduced system.

Opis:
Modern 3D scanners can measure the geometry with high accuracy and within a short time. In turn, currently produced CNC machine tools allow for very accurate manufacturing; however, processes beyond the machining cycle remain time-consuming. This paper presents the idea and experimental tests of the scanning system in the CNC machine, which allows to speed up on-machine measurements, align clouds of 3D data points with an accuracy close to that of the machine itself, and finally set the workpiece coordinate system for machining. This modern approach is in line with Industry 4.0, combining the terms of data processing, machine vision, manufacturing automation, and human-machine interfaces. The future implementation of the proposed system as an interchangeable tool will allow performing autonomous measurements, inspection, and supervision of the workspace, without engaging the machine operator. The system calibration and experimental results using the industrial 3D scanner and CNC machine are described.

Opis:
The modern manufacturing or transportation machines that are used in industrial processes require continuous supervision in certain circumstances and even manual control by a human. Despite the fact the machines are more and more reliable and accurate than they used to be there is still the need for manual and time-consuming programming and safety control, especially when the external conditions change. For the operation of large machines, where the risk of damage and even disaster exists, an additional supervisory system based on vision devices could be utilized. The vision systems are commonly used in a range of simple 2D detection as well as very precise 3D reconstruction. The stereovision systems could be applied for unusual operations, especially in terms of safety and collision avoidance, such as crane observations while transporting a heavy load, robot and CNC machine preparation and normal operation. Through the use of optical devices the observed objects could be quickly positioned. In this research a test bench for stereovision reconstruction for the example of a robotic arm has been presented. The calibration procedures have been explained and accuracy tests in a large measuring volume were performed. Finally the possibilities of the applications and the utilization of such a system have been assessed.

Opis:
The three-dimensional (3D) coordinate measurement of radio frequency identification (RFID) multi-tag networks is one of the important issues in the field of RFID, which affects the reading performance of RFID multi-tag networks. In this paper, a novel method for 3D coordinate measurement of RFID multi-tag networks is proposed. A dual-CCD system (vertical and horizontal cameras) is used to obtain images of RFID multi-tag networks from different angles. The iterative threshold segmentation and the morphological filtering method are used to process the images. The template matching method is respectively used to determine the two-dimensional (2D) coordinate and the vertical coordinate of each tag. After that, the 3D coordinate of each tag is obtained. Finally, a back-propagation (BP) neural network is used to model the nonlinear relationship between the RFID multi-tag network and the corresponding reading distance. The BP neural network can predict the reading distances of unknown tag groups and find out the optimal distribution structure of the tag groups corresponding to the maximum reading distance. In the future work, the corresponding in-depth research on the neural network to adjust the distribution of tags will be done.
