Opis:
A series of 2,6-dialkoxy-3,5-dinitropyrazines (R = Me, Et, Pr) has been synthesized and subjected to amination. The yield and purity of the generated 2,6-diamino-3 ,5-dinitropyrazine was found to be independent of the alkoxy group present in the precursor. This contrasts with the behaviour of 1,3,5-trialkoxy-2,4,6-trinitrobenzene (R = Me, Et, Pr), where the purity of the 1,3,5-triamino- 2,4,6-trinitrobenzene (TATB) produced by amination was very dependent upon the alkoxy group.

Opis:
The aim of this work was to examine the aminosilane ligands for the copper(II) salts and their application as catalysts for the oxidative polymerization of 2,6-dimethylphenol leading to poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene ether) (PPE) [also known as poly(phenylene oxide) (PPO)] formation. As aminosilane ligands, silane derivatives containing primary and/or secondary amino groups were tested. Among aminosilanes used, PPE was only obtained when N-methylaminopropyltrimetoxysilane (MAPTMS) as a ligand for copper(II) was used. CuCl2 and CuBr2 were compared as catalyst precursors for 2,6-dimethylphenol polymerization and influence of N/Cu molar ratio in the range from 80 to 160 on PPE yield and its Mw was tested. It was observed, that with increasing N/Cu molar ratio from 80 to 120, both PPE yield and Mw increased. PPE with the highest Mw was obtained when CuBr2-MAPTMS as acatalyst was used. At N/Cu molar ratio equal to 160, a decrease in PPE Mw obtained with use of both precursors and decrease in PPE yield for CuCl2-MAPTMS catalyst were noticed. The condensed nanoorganosilicon particles of spherical shape well dispersed in PPE were determined in the polymer matrix. The UV-Vis studies showed that, strong ligand field of the aminosilane ligand easier electron transfer from monomer to Cu(II) and thus polymerization facilitate.

The usefulness of untreated (H-NM) as well as modified by sodium benzoate (H-SB) and sulfuric acid (H-SA1 and H-SA2) halloysites as low-cost adsorbent for the removal of Direct Orange 26 azo dye from aqueous solutions was investigated. The kinetic data were evaluated in terms of the pseudo-first order and pseudo-second order kinetic models, while the equilibrium adsorption data were analyzed by the Freundlich and Langmuir isotherm equations. The data follows the pseudo-second order kinetic and Langmuir adsorption models. The DO26 adsorption capacities were 64.93, 74.07, 303.0, and 384.4 μmol/g for the H-NM, H-SB, H-SA1, and H-SA2, respectively. Adsorption of the dye was strongly pH dependent; no effect of ionic strength was observed. The study revealed that halloysites, especially acid-activated halloysites, could be used as an effective and low-cost adsorbents.

Climate change is one of the most critical global issues, engaging not just researchers and activists but also members of the power elite responsible for political decisions. A key annual event for discussing the challenges of climate change is the UN Climate Conference. Its 26th edition, held in Glasgow in 2021, received widespread coverage in both traditional and online media, earning the moniker “last chance summit.” This article presents a study on the media portrayal of the 26th UN Climate Change Conference (COP26). Concept: The research focused on news published during the Conference in three primary TV news broadcasts (“News”, “Events”, “Facts”) and on the main pages of three internet news portals (Interia, Onet, WP). Results: The study found that COP26, while competing for media attention with other significant events (such as protests against anti-abortion laws and the migration crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border), was featured by all surveyed media organizations. Additionally, each TV news outlet, through actions like sending reporters to Glasgow, and each online portal, through initiatives like participating in Greenpeace-organized events, emphasized the conference’s importance.

Opis:
In the discussions on the possible religious background of the current ecological crisis, the biblical text of Genesis 1:26–28 is the passage most often quoted by all sides of the debate. While for some it is an incentive to unlimited exploitation, and the resultant degradation of the natural environment, for others it carries a positive ecological message and a call for responsible care of the created world. Due to this ambiguity in interpretations, this article attempts to resolve whether the biblical text itself is problematic, and requires correction, or whether it is ecologically adequate, and it is the interpretations that have been thus far insufficient. Each of the three main currents of the ecological hermeneutics of the Bible (apologetic, radical, and neo-orthodox) offers its own specific answer to this question.

Opis:
The main subject of the paper is a critical evaluation of meaning behind ban on tattoos in Lev 19:26-28 and analysis of historic and cultural contexts of the practice in antiquity. An exempt of Leviticus is deeply entrenched in its context of commandments which forbid imitating religious customs of surrounding cultures and their magical practices, so the research into all of contexts allows reaching main motivation behind the ban and main meaning behind the practice in Israel and in antiquity in general. First step is analysis of motivation for getting tattoos in Israel’s neighboring countries to determine main reasons which led ancient people to tattooing and being tattooed. Then, we undergo a thorough philological and exegetical analysis of bans in vv. 26–28, which allows us to understand perspectives which followed authors of ancient biblical translations. Next, after an overview of rabbinic literature we form main conclusions concerning tattoos practice in Leviticus.

Introduction. MicroRNA are small RNA molecules about 22 nucleotides long that do not encode proteins. Their function is to change the expression of proteins by attaching to their mRNA. They participate in various biological processes and pathogenesis of many diseases, including cancer. MicroRNA-26a-5p (miR-26a-5p) takes part in developing many disease entities and may become a potential therapeutic agent. Objective. The article aims to present the current knowledge on miR-26a-5p and consider the possible therapeutic use of this molecule. State of knowledge. Many studies on cell lines and model organisms indicate the suppressive function of miR-26a-5p in such neoplasms as breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, prostate cancer, thyroid cancer, or acute myeloid leukemia. In turn, in osteosarcoma cells, miR-26a-5p has an oncogenic character. miR-26a-5p is also associated with other diseases. Many authors have shown that this molecule is related to such entities as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, preeclampsia, myocardial injury, or diabetic nephropathy. Conclusions. Understanding the functions of miR-26a-5p and its participation in human diseases’ pathogenesis gives the possibility of the therapeutic use of this molecule in the future. However, knowledge of this subject is still limited. Further research to assess the efficacy and safety of the therapeutic use of miR-26a-5p is mandatory.

The industry standard BSIM3v3 and BSIM4.0 have been replaced by BSIM6.0 compact MOSFET model for deep submicron technology node. The BSIM6.0 is next generation, defacto industry standard model for bulk MOSFET. This model is charge based which is continuous from weak to strong inversion of operation. The core of analytical and physical BSIM6 model[3] is charge, with drain current equation expressed in form of source(qs) and drain charge(qd). This model has all its governing equations continuous and can be used to develop design methodology using IC based approach. But its method of computing qs and qd is complicated which is different from Vittoz traditional charge calculation method. The continuous interpolation equation of drain current as adopted by EKV2.6 although is empirical but its compact expression is preferred by analog designer to get intuitive design guidance. BSIM6 is a combined effort by BSIM and EKV modeling groups based on charge based continuous equations. Although EKV2.6 model is not valid for deep submicron process as it only includes submicron short channel effects like velocity saturation (VS), vertical field mobility reduction (VFMR), Drain induced barrier lowering (DIBL), channel length modulation (CLM) etc. But it still offers some benefits to have first cut design methodology because of its much simplified analytical equations. The inversion coefficient (IC) has found extensive acceptance in designer community as it offers enhanced design elegance in EKV then more complicated BSIM model. This paper discuses first step in analog design process by extracted core EKV2.6 intrinsic model parameters from industry standard BSIM3v3 model on 0.18μ technology node. The 0.18μ technology is chosen as it is still more common technology node in analog circuit design. The model parameters are extracted for different bins and optimisation is done using nonlinear optimisation LM algorithm. The optimised EKV2.6 parameters are validated with current-voltage (I-V), intrinsic voltage gain (Avi) and Early voltage circuit parameter (VA) with BSIM3v3 model.

The aim of the study was to assess the possibility of using natural carbonaceous materials such as peat, lignite, and hard coal as low-cost sorbents for the removal of Direct Orange 26 azo dye from an aqueous solution. The adsorption kinetics and the influence of experimental conditions were investigated. The following materials were used in the research: azo dye Direct Orange 26, Spill-Sorb “Fison” peat (Alberta, Canada), lignite (Bełchatów, Poland), and hard coal (“Zofiówka” mine, Poland). The morphology and porous structure of the absorbents were tested. Dye sorption was carried out under static conditions, with different doses of sorbents, pH of the solution, and ionic strength. It was observed that the adsorption of Direct Orange 26 dye on all three adsorbents was strongly dependent on the pH of the solution, while the ionic strength of the solution did not affect the adsorption efficiency. The adsorption kinetics were consistent with the pseudo-second-order reaction model. The stage which determines the rate of adsorption is the diffusion of the dye in the near-surface layer. The process of equilibrium adsorption of Direct Orange 26 dye on all tested adsorbents is best described by the Langmuir isotherm. The maximum adsorption capacity for peat, brown coal and hard coal was 17.7, 15.1 and 13.8 mg/g, respectively. The results indicate that peat, lignite, and hard coal can be considered as alternative adsorbents for removing azo dyes from aqueous solutions.

Opis:
The paper presents the results of the synthesis of 2,6-dimetyhlphenol (26DMP) from o-cresol. The target compound is an important substrate for polymer chemistry. Due to a large amount of o-cresol which is generated as a by-product, during the synthesis of 2,6-dimethylphenol from phenol, the methylation of o-cresol to 2,6-dimethylphenol should be examined as a separate process. The alkylation of o-cresol was carried out in a fluidized bed of commercial iron-chromium catalyst TZC-3/1. Undesirable decomposition of methyl alcohol on the catalyst generates a number of environmentally dangerous by-products such as methane, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide. The effect of temperature on the yield of the synthesis was investigated. The synthesis process was monitored on-line in the temperature range 310-380°C, completely covering the maximum efficiency of the process. Online analysis of the process by FTIR spectroscopy gave information about products of both methylation of o-cresol and pyrolysis of methanol. The maximum 85% yield of desired 2,6-dimethylphenol with more than 85% conversion of o-cresol was achieved at 340°C, at 1:6 molar ratio of o-cresol:methanol.

The author of this paper seeks the original historical context as well as the oldest form, structure and concept of the biblical records of the covenants of Abraham and Isaac with the local ruler(s) as recorded in Gen 21:22–24, 25–33; 26:26–31. The patriarchs, who enjoy the status of foreign/sojourner/ resident in the land of the Philistine king, Abimelek, and their peaceful agreements are depicted in three biblical sources, which are very similar to each other in terms of structure and literary context. Those are compared with selected Hittite, Babylonian and Assyrian records of the royal covenants from the 2 millennium BC. The methodology adopted in the research allowed several important formal and substantive points of contact to be noted in the compared sources. Through this comparison, the paper confirms that Gen 21:22–24, 25 33; 26:26–31 reflects two ancient patterns of bilateral covenants between the monarch and an equal or subordinate social partner: royal grants and suzerain-vassal treaties. The paper also discusses the socio-cultural and legal spectrum of the Near Eastern royal procedures and how they were re-edited and adapted by the editors responsible for the current version of the biblical cycles about the patriarchs.

An accurate way to predict the behaviour of an RF analogue circuit is presented. A lot of effort is required to eliminate the inaccuracies that may generate the deviation between simulation and measurement. Efficient use of computer-aided design and incorporation of as many physical effects as possible overcomes this problem. Improvement of transistor modelling is essential, but there are many other unsolved problems affecting the accuracy of RF analogue circuit modelling. In this paper, the way of selection of accurate transistor model and the extraction of parasitic elements from the physical layout, as well as implementation to the circuit simulation will be presented using two CMOS circuit examples: an amplifier and a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO). New simulation technique, electro-magnetic (EM)-co-simulation is introduced.

This paper discusses the adsorption of Direct Orange 26 azo dye on sunflower husk - an agricultural waste product. During the study, sorption kinetics and equilibrium as well as sorption capacity of the husk were investigated. The adsorption kinetics was analyzed using pseudo-first and pseudo-second order equations, which indicated a chemical sorption mechanism. The sorption equilibrium was approximated with the two-parameter Freundlich and Langmuir equations and the three-parameter Redlich-Peterson equation. The main experiments were carried out in a laboratory adsorption column under different process conditions. Experimental data were interpreted with the Thomas model, based on the volumetric flow rate, initial composition of the feed solution and mass of the adsorbent. The results of modeling the adsorption equilibrium, adsorption kinetics and adsorption dynamics were evaluated statistically.

Opis:
The importance of ADA (adenosine deaminase) in the immune system and the role of its interaction with an ADA-binding cell membrane protein dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV), identical to the activated immune cell antigen, CD26, has attracted the interest of researchers for many years. To investigate the specific properties in the structure - function relationship of the ADA/DPPIV-CD26 complex, its soluble form, identical to large ADA (LADA), was isolated from human blood serum, human pleural fluid and bovine kidney cortex. The kinetic constants (Km and Vmax) of LADA and of small ADA (SADA), purified from bovine lung and spleen, were compared using adenosine (Ado) and 2'-deoxyadenosine (2'-dAdo) as substrates. The Michaelis constant, Km, evidences a higher affinity of both substrates (in particular of more toxic 2'-dAdo) for LADA and proves the modulation of toxic nucleoside neutralization in the extracellular medium due to complex formation between ADA and DPPIV-CD26. The values of Vmax are significantly higher for SADA, but the efficiency, Vmax /Km, in LADA-catalyzed 2'-dAdo deamination is higher than that in Ado deamination. The interaction of all enzyme preparations with derivatives of adenosine and erythro-9-(2-hydroxy-3-nonyl)adenine (EHNA) was studied. 1-DeazaEHNA and 3-deazaEHNA demonstrate stronger inhibiting activity towards LADA, the DPPIV-CD26-bound form of ADA. The observed differences between the properties of the two ADA isoforms may be considered as a consequence of SADA binding with DPPIV-CD26. Both SADA and LADA indicated a similar pH-profile of adenosine deamination reaction with the optimum at pHs 6.5 - 7.5, while the pH-profile of dipeptidyl peptidase activity of the ADA/DPPIV-CD26 complex appeared in a more alkaline region.
