Opis:
Urolithiasis is a disease of the genitourinary system, which is defined as the presence of urinary stones at any place in the urinary tract, resulting from the precipitation reaction of chemical compounds. The aim of this study is to demonstrate the important role of selected environmental factors (climate, ambient temperature) and the type of profession performed in the development of urolithiasis. In this field, the literature including original and review papers related to the epidemiology, pathogenesis and risk factors of urolithiasis was analyzed. The study used electronic databases such as Medline, Web of Science and Google Scholar. The prevalence of urolithiasis has increased in recent decades in both developed and developing countries. It is believed that this growing trend is associated with lifestyle changes such as the lack of physical activity, poor eating habits and global warming. Many factors are responsible for the formation of urinary stones. In literature, there is a division into individual and environmental factors. Today, external factors in the form of climate changes (global warming), geographical conditions and seasonal fluctuations, and the type of profession performed are becoming more and more important in the context of the occurrence of urinary stones. Currently, the presence of urolithiasis is becoming a significant problem all over the world and searching for causes is not easy, but particular attention should be paid to certain predispositions resulting from environmental factors, such as ambient temperature and the type of work performed. Opis:
The purpose of the study was to determine velocity changes in relation to the load lifted along with their muscular activity. Twenty athletes representing different sport disciplines, familiar with the flat bench press took part in the research project. The ANOVA analysis revealed a significantly higher effect on range of mean velocity (F = 128.34; η2 = 1.22 with p = 0.001) and maximal velocity (F = 7 3.31; η 2 = 0 .81 w ith p = 0 .001) t o m easured l oads ( 70÷100% 1-RM) i n a scending p hase. Tukey’s p ost-hoc t ests revealed a statistically significant difference between 70% and 100% 1-RM loads, in mean velocity with p = 0.001 and maximal velocity with p = 0.001. Similarly the results revealed a statistically significant difference between 80% and 100% 1-RM loads in mean velocity (p = 0,012) and maximal velocity (p = 0,021) during the ascending phase. Relationship between velocity and the muscles activity indicates that the anterior deltoid and latissimus dorsi muscles show synergy and a significant relationship for loads 90 and 100% 1-RM. The triceps brachii muscle shows a higher relationship with velocity of the barbell for loads 70% and 80%, then the relationship of the pectoralis major muscle with velocity only for 90% 1-RM.

postpartum hemorrhage
Opis:
Introduction. Postpartum hemorrhage is still one of the causes of maternal mortality and morbidity. The purpose of investigation was an examination of practical skills in blood loss assessment during labor by midwives. Aim. To examine the practical skills of midwives that have different professional experience in blood loss assessment during labor. Materials and methods. A case-control prospective study of labour blood loss volume assessment with the use of a birthing simulator was conducted among midwives from 1 September 2016 to 30 May 2017. Midwives were divided in to 2 groups: Group I consisted of midwives who were recent university graduates without professional experience. Group II consisted of midwives with a minimum of two years of professional practice and assistance at more than 1000 births. This was a multicenter study. Outcome measures included visual evaluation of blood loss during simulation scenario. Results. Average evaluation of blood loss: Group I – 737 ml, Group II – 610 ml (p = 0.0002). There were no statistically significant differences between the groups in terms of diagnosing the cause of hemorrhage in the third stage of labor (p = 0.1503) neither in terms of identification of hemorrhage after perineal injury (p = 0.1503) . The examined midwives underestimated blood loss, however the midwives in Group I assessed blood loss statistically better. Conclusions. Subjective assessment of the amount of blood loss during labor is underestimated. Professional experience does not improve the accuracy of assessment of blood loss volume during labor.

Opis:
The aim of the study was to determine the type and origin of plant communities on an area of 4 lysimeters (35 m2 each) filed with ash and covered with two superlayers 12 years after the beginning of the experience. The paper presents the species of grasses sown in 2003, their sward participation then and the flrist status in 2015. Phytosociological records were taken using the Braun-Blanquet’s method, distinguished plant communities, the syngenesis of the recognized phytocoenoses was defied. The results allowed to determine the advantage of the ruderal synanthropic communities: Artemisio-Tanacetetum vulgaris Br-Bl. 1931 corr. 1949 (in L-2), Leonuro Ballotetum nigrae (in L-3), a community with Rubus caesius (in L-4) over the natural auxochoric Calamagrostietum epigeji Juraszek 1928 (in L-1). Their current state is referred to as a hull form. However, due to the presence of the expansive species characteristic of the above-mentioned communities, continued development can be expected towards fully developed phytocoenoses. The thesis founded about the inflence of the neighboring forest communities on the species composition of the vegetation of the subject has not been confimed. There were only three forest and scrub species with a negligible sward participation.

The potential for energy production from effluents and husks generated in grain processing in the rice parboiling industries in Brazil is capable of promoting energy self-sufficiency in the sector, through the production and use of syngas and biogas. However, the production of methane from residues of the rice parboiling industries is still little explored by academic studies, in general studies on the potential of methane production by this same type of effluent are found in the south of the country, however, the same is not true for the production of biodiesel from rice bran oil. The objective of this study was to determine the production potential of biodiesel, methane and electric energy of the largest parboiled rice industry in Rio Grande do Sul, located in the southern region of the country. According to this study, the rice parboiling industry located in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, has a production potential of 1.2-10² m³ /day of biodiesel, 2.93-10 Nm³ /day of methane and 1.89-10⁴ kWh/day of electricity. Despite being a significant and high potential, which may reduce the financial expenses of the industry regarding the purchase of energy from concessionaires, it is not able to promote its energy self-sufficiency. At the same time, it would be necessary to add the energy production potential of the rice husk gasification syngas highlighted in other studiem.

Background: Knowledge about diabetes mellitus (DM)-related complications, the direct and indirect costs incur red by patients with DM is still insufficient in Poland. Economedica DM-PL (Economedica) survey was a cross-sectional observational study that aimed to assess these issues. Material and methods: The survey was carried out in 2016 on a representative sample of 2032 diabetic patients recruited by 195 general practioners (GP) and 48 diabetologists (D) randomly selected from the national registry of physicians. Each GP and D recruited 8 to 10 patients with DM according to the specified protocol. The study included 1938 medical questionnaires (comple ted by the GPs and Ds), 1938 questionnaires about costs (completed by the patients) and 1532 treatment adherence questionnaires. Results: The Economedica survey provided new insights into DM epidemiological and cost data. 70% of patients with type-1 DM were diagnosed with the disease before the age of 40. For 76% patients with type-2 DM, it was diagnosed aeftr the age of 50. The average monthly out-of-pocket medical costs for DM patients in 2016 reached 66.2 EUR, while their non-medical costs were 36.8 EUR. Conclusions: The methodology applied in our study proved useful for providing new dimensions of DM epidemiological and cost data in Poland.
