This work aims at physico-mechanical properties of the Ti-containing chromium-free conversion coatings on zinc coated steel. The wear resistance of the whole conversion coating/zinc coating system depends on the deposition time of these coatings. As the duration of the deposition of conversion coatings containing titanium increases, the wear resistance of the samples decreases. The reason for this deterioration in wear resistance is likely worse adhesion of these coatings obtained at longer deposition times. The best adhesion to the zinc substrate posses coatings deposited for 20 s.

Opis:
The subject of the research covered in this paper is the removal of copper (Cu2+) cations from water at low pH (initial values of pH 3 and 6) by means of zero-valent iron. The chemical states and atomic concentrations of solids formed on the surface of zero-valent iron, and the type of deposited polycrystalline substances have been analyzed with the use of XPS and XRD. The type of process causing the copper removal from water at low pH, corresponding to the effect of acid mine drainage, has been identified by analyzing the changes of physicochemical parameters and specified chemicals content in water. Cu2+ was removed from water for the initial pH of 6 was much more effective than at lower pH. The formation of CuxFe3-xO4 , where x≤1, and to a lesser degree Cu2O, Cu0 and/or CuO and/or Cu2S, were the basic processes of the removal of copper at almost neutral pH of water (pH about 6), while the formation of copper in metallic form and Cu2O, as well as probably CuO, were the basic processes for lower pH (pH about 3). The adsorption of Cu2+ on the surface of shell covering square-shaped cold-rolled steel sheet cell was an additional process causing the removal of copper from water at almost neutral pH.

Opis:
This paper briefly describes the current requirements which machine tool ball screws must meet and indicates the need for the modelling and numerical simulation of the latter. The structure of a holistic ball screw model and ways of modelling the properties of the ball screw in a turning centre, including the moving heat sources on the guides and in the screw-nut joint, are presented. The results of computing the heating up and displacements of a preloaded screw and the screw without preload are reported. The modelled changes in motion resistance and in displacements are shown to be in agreement with the results of measuring the current drawn by the drive’s motor. It is also shown that the models represent well the real physical phenomena occurring in the ball screw during the execution of repeatable work cycles by the drive.

This paper highlights the need for the holistic modelling of the thermal properties of machine tools to provide a good basis for the effective aiding of machine tool design and optimization. A brief history of this modelling and the idea of accurate modelling and its experimental verification are presented. Examples of the holistic modelling of drive units both isolated from the machine tool and interconnected with its structure are provided.

Opis:
Mathematical models representing power losses in tilting rotary tables with a direct drive system (increasingly often used in CNC machine tools) are presented. The process of creating an FEM model for computing the heating up and thermal deformation of tilting rotary tables is described. A simple way of verifying the FEM model on the basis of motor catalogue specifications is provided. Exemplary results of computations and thermal analyses carried out for a tilting rotary table with a synchronized two-sided direct drive system are reported.

Opis:
A computation system dedicated for machine tool spindle drives is presented which integrates a FDM model with a FEM model. Modelling of heat exchange through coolers are discussed, as well as modelling of heat exchange between cooling-lubricating oil and gear transmissions, shafts and headstock walls. In modelling of heat exchange inside headstock, the use of additional elements - type "Fluid" and "Air" - is proposed. Sample modelling results are presented concerning a headstock from a drilling-milling machine tool for machining with high loads and are compared with experimental data.

The paper presents determination of PID controller parameters for application of plasmatron powered plasma reactor designed and build in Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements. Plasma reactor is the key element of the test setup, designed to research, processing and recovery of metals from waste of electric and electronic equipment, focusing on electronic printed circuit boards. Experiment was carried out with power of 36 kW. In experiment two temperatures were measured in two points of the reactor chamber, allowing verification of thermal response. Basing on identification of thermal parameters of the plasma reactor carried out in previous paper [7], the PID controller was chosen, as suitable to control second order inertia object. Parameters of used PID controlled were determined using MATLAB-Simulink toolbox. Calculated PID model was utilized for plasma reactor parameters control, allowing examination of energy saving by reducing of plasmatrons power, and stabilization of process parameters.

In the paper the results of investigation on tensile stresses dependence of magnetoelastic characteristics of cores made of 13CrMo4-5 constructional steel are presented. In the investigation step-cooling test treated samples were used. The step-cooling test process is a type of heat treatment simulating effects of passing time and environmental conditions (temperature and stress) on the sample. In the paper the method of testing the influence of stresses on the magnetic characteristics is presented. Frame shaped samples ensured a closed magnetic circuit and homogeneous distribution of stress. It was found that step-cooling test does not significantly influence the magnetoelastic characteristics and the structure of the samples. On the other hand, then tensile stresses significantly change the magnetic characteristics of 13CrMo4-5 constructional steel. That confirms the possibility of using measurements based on the magnetoelastic effect in the stress assessment for industrial non destructing testing of steel constructions.

Paper presents the results of magnetoelastic tests of ring-shaped cores made of $Fe_{40}Ni_{38}Mo_{4}B_{18}$ amorphous alloy. The cores were subjected to thermomagnetic annealing under different values of magnetic field. The obtained results enabled us to connect the magnetoelastic characteristics of $Fe_{40}Ni_{38}Mo_{4}B_{18}$ amorphous alloy with the conditions of thermomagnetic treatment of the material.

Opis:
Information about magnetoelastic properties of newly developed amorphous magnetic alloys is very important from practical point of view, especially in the case of high permeability materials such as the Fe₆₁Co₁₉Si₅B₁₅ amorphous alloy. In the case of such materials, effect connected with the influence of external stresses on the magnetic properties of the alloy should be tested. This paper presents experimental results of the magnetoelastic properties investigation of the Fe₆₁Co₁₉Si₅B₁₅ amorphous alloy, annealed without magnetic field as well as in the magnetic field. Such thermo-magnetic treatment generated anisotropy has significant influence on the total free energy of magnetic material. In the magnetoelastic investigation, the compressive stress was applied to the ring shaped core, perpendicularly to the magnetizing field direction. Due to the fact, that cores with closed magnetic circuits were used, demagnetization did not change the balance of total free energy in the material.
