    As both the European Union and its member states acknowledge that the proliferation of fake news threatens their political stability and – consequently – the general idea of European integration – they have undertaken many steps to confront that problem. Them, the article examines how EU institutions, together with the member states, have tackled the spread of disinformation within the common policy of cybersecurity. The novelty of this study is that it does so concerning the ongoing process of Europeanization of cyberspace, combining the field of information technology with European studies.

    Opis:
    The experience of the last three decades reveals not only the significant exclusion of rural issues by the press, radio and television, but also its stereotypical portrayal. As a consequence, the public sphere does not perform its basic function in relation to rural communities, namely, it does not lead to their empowerment. On the other hand, social media offer a chance for real empowerment of the village and its communities. The aim of the article is therefore to analyze various types of regional initiatives in social media in terms of their potential to empower the village and its inhabitants in the public sphere. The hypothesis is digital regionalism constitutes a qualitative change in the functioning of the public sphere concerning rural issues.
    Doświadczenia ostatnich trzech dekad jasno dowodzą nie tylko znacznego wykluczenia tematyki wiejskiej przez prasę, radio i telewizję, ale także jej stereotypowego ujęcia. W konsekwencji, sfera publiczna nie realizuje swojej podstawowej funkcji w stosunku do społeczności wiejskich, a mianowicie nie prowadzi do ich upodmiotowienia. Szansę na rzeczywiste upodmiotowienie wsi i jej mieszkańców oferują natomiast media społecznościowe. Zadaniem artykułu jest zatem analiza różnego rodzaju inicjatyw regionalistycznych w mediach społecznościowych pod względem ich potencjału do upodmiotowienia wsi i jej mieszkańców w sferze publicznej. Przyjęto bowiem hipotezę, iż to właśnie tak rozumiany cyfrowy regionalizm stanowi jakościową zmianę w funkcjonowaniu sfery publicznej w odniesieniu do tematyki wiejskiej.

    Confronted with a natural tendency of marginalization national/ethnic minorities and immigrant communities respond by adopting two diverse strategies of showing their presence in the public sphere of the host country. Depending on the level of their integration and the goals they want to achieve, they can either stress their links (affinity) with the majority culture or the differences that mark them out. However, some minority communities succeed in achieving a distinctive presence in the public sphere already at the stage of launching its own media.
    Mniejszości narodowe i etniczne, a także społeczności imigranckie są zazwyczaj marginalizowane w sferze publicznej. W związku z tym podejmują różne strategie zaznaczenia swojej obecności. W zależności od stopnia integracji i realizowanych celów, podkreślają swoje więzi z większością lub wręcz przeciwnie — akcentują różnice. Jeszcze inne uzyskują podmiotowość w sferze publicznej już na etapie produkcji własnych mediów.

    The 2015 refugee crisis – as the mass influx of migrants from the Middle East is commonly dubbed – tested the European Union’s ability to react to large-scale humanitarian emergencies. Apart from various organizational, social and political changes that the 2015 refugee crisis has brought to the European Union, it has also marked the growing role of information and communication technology (ICT) in the EU’s asylum and migration policies. Drawing from the critical perspective of international relations and such concepts as securitization of migration, the paper aims to analyse the engagement of ICT by EU institutions and individual Member States during the refugee crisis in 2015.

    This article presents an analysis of the process of sacralization of history in the media discourse. Certain events and figures from the past are incorporated into the sphere of sacrum which excludes any discussion and maintains the domination of one narration of history. The process of sacralization may take places directly or indirectly. The first relies on direct inclusion to the discourse of certain words, which are associated with religion. The indirect sacralization takes place when episodes from the past are changed into universal stories of fight between the good and the evil. The analysis is performed on printed media discourses concerning three events from Poland’s contemporary history: the 1920 Warsaw Battle of Warsaw, the 1944 Warsaw Uprising and the postwar armed underground.

    The article analyzes the situation of the Roma people in the Lubuskie Region in the years 1945-1989. Being part of the so-called “Western Territories”, the Lubuskie Region, first as the Zielona Góra Voivodship and later divided into Zielona Góra Voivodship and Gorzów Voivodship, attracted a number of ethnic minorities, including Gypsies. “e article presents how local political and security authorities reacted to the presence of the Roma people, adapting central laws, most notably the 1964 forced settlement bill, to local situation. In their analysis, the authors use documents held in various local and central archives, including the Institute of National Remembrance archive and Ministry of the Interior archive.

    The authors of the article focus the concept of alternative theatre, the Polish alternative theatre experience as a part of universal countercultural movement, the outdoor and site specific theatre festivals as a tool for social change and the future prospects of the alternative theatre in Poland. The term “alternative theatre” assumes the conscious adoption of a critical andrebellious attitude against the existing social and political status quo. What is more, it assumes a desire by artists of the theatre to supplant the existing methods of social communication with other, more creative ways, which better contribute to the self-development of individuals who participate in the process. Here, theatrical performance signifies the wish of theatrical artists tochange the structure of their contemporaries’ perception and valorisation of the world.
