Opis:
Background. In the prevention of osteoporosis and its treatment, it is important to prevent bone loss by reducing the occurrence of factors determining human health, which reduce the risk of osteoporosis, such as health behaviors. Objective. Characteristics of modifiable risk factors predisposing to osteoporosis, such as: low intake of calcium and vitamin D3 in the diet, smoking, coffee and alcohol abuse. Material and methods. The study involved 400 women aged 50-74 who are suffering from osteoporosis T-score <-2.5 SD and those who are healthy T-score> -1 SD, living in the Malopolska voivodeship. A questionnaire was used to conduct the study. Results. More than half of the respondents with osteoporosis (51%) were drinking coffee several times a day. In the healthy group, the majority of respondents (77.5%) were drinking coffee once a day. None of the healthy subjects drank more than two units of alcohol per day, and in the group of patients 2% of respondents declared consumption of more than two units of alcohol every day. Women with osteoporosis were more likely to smoke cigarettes and declared more frequent intake of calcium-containing products than healthy women. In the group of 200 examined women suffering from osteoporosis, 26.5% daily consumed milk, and 21.5% included this product three times a week in their diet. Healthy women did not drink milk every day. One-third (30.5%) of women with osteoporosis provided the daily recommended dose of calcium by consuming a slice of cheese. None of the healthy women examined included yellow cheese in daily meals, but only once (22%) or three times (26.5%) a week. Conclusions. It is important to introduce a health education in order to increase knowledge about the risk factors of osteoporosis , including the principles of proper nutrition with an emphasis on calcium and vitamin D3 intake.
Wprowadzenie. W profilaktyce osteoporozy i jej leczenia znaczenie ma zapobieganie utracie masy kostnej poprzez ograniczenie występowania czynników determinujących zdrowie człowieka, które zmniejszają ryzyko wystąpienia osteoporozy, takich jak zachowania zdrowotne. Cel badań. Charakterystyka modyfikowalnych czynników ryzyka predysponujących do wystąpienia osteoporozy, takich jak: mała podaż wapnia i witaminy D3 w diecie, palenie papierosów, nadużywanie kawy i alkoholu. Materiał i metody. Badaniami objęto 400 kobiet w wieku 50-74 lata, które chorują na osteoporozę T-score<-2,5 SD oraz te, które są zdrowe T-score>-1 SD, mieszkające w województwie małopolskim. Do przeprowadzenia badania wykorzystano kwestionariusz ankiety. Wyniki. Ponad połowa badanych z osteoporozą (51%) piła kawę kilka razy dziennie. Natomiast w grupie zdrowych większość ankietowanych (77,5%) piła kawę raz dziennie. Żadna ze zdrowych badanych nie piła więcej niż dwie jednostki alkoholu dziennie, a w grupie chorych 2% ankietowanych deklarowała spożycie ponad dwóch jednostek alkoholu codziennie. Kobiety z osteoporozą częściej paliły papierosy oraz deklarowały częstsze spożycie produktów zawierających wapń, niż kobiety zdrowe. W grupie 200 badanych kobiet chorujących na osteoporozę 26,5% codziennie spożywała mleko, a 21,5% uwzględniła ten produkt trzy razy w tygodniu w swoim żywieniu.

Opis:
The article consists of three components. The first part has theoretical character and explains key words as “strategy”, “development strategy” and “strategy of the development of tourism”. It also gives some short characteristic of development strategy construction process. Legal grounds of creating concept papers in the area of tourism were also discussed. In addition, important documents which have meaning for creating the strategy of the development of tourism on the district and commune level were briefly characterised. In the second part authors make an attempt to determine the place of tourism in concept papers of commune self governments and districts of the Lodz province. A strategy of the development of tourism was analyzed in details on the example of Belchatow city and commune. As a summary of the analytical part of the article, authors pointed some common mistakes in analyzed concept papers. Among them there are: the lack of indicating sources of financing planned actions in the development of tourism, the lack of analysis of outside and foreign markets. In addition, in many documents there were no world and domestic trends in tourism analyzes, and only few proposals about new, original tourist products. In concept papers authors also indicate the most significant mistakes like lack of regional ideas for tourism industry cooperation and for creating promotional strategies of the given area. The last part of the article was devoted to analyze “best practices” of the tourism management in the Norwegian Oppland county. The review of chosen methods and directions of managing the tourism in Norway was conducted to find some examples which can be simply used in the Lodz province.

Opis:
We used via light and scanning electron microscopy to study the leaf epidermis of five Solidago taxa from southwestern Poland. Light microscopy was employed to describe the epidermal surface, including stomatal types, the shape of epidermal cell walls, stomatal density, the distribution of stomata between the abaxial and adaxial epidermis, and stomatal guard cell length. From these observations we calculated the stomatal index (SI) and stomatal ratio (SR) as the basis for defining the type of leaf. From LM of transverse sections of leaf we described mesophyll structure, the presence of secretory canals, adaxial and abaxial epidermis thickness, and leaf thickness. We examined cuticular ornamentation, trichome features and epicuticular secretions by SEM. As determined by discriminatory analysis, the most important traits distinguishing these taxa were the stomatal index of the adaxial epidermis, leaf thickness, features of the walls of epidermal cells, and the presence and features of trichomes. On the basis of observations and measurements we created a key for distinguishing Solidago taxa.

Opis:
The increase of interest in golf playing, observed in recent years in Poland, is a reason for the growing demand for building new golf courses. It generates the need for creating an assessment methodology for the solutions used when designing and realizing golf courses. Turf value is a crucial component that affects games quality, therefore valuation of turf is very important (Turgeon, 2004). However, for many players also important are landscape values, which create a setting for playing golf. For this reason, creating a separate, universally used methodology of valuation the golf course landscape is an important aspect. The present paper shows the methodology of golf course landscape assessment by the example of the Toya Golf & Country Club – Wroclaw at Krzyżanowice. The assessment presented includes five aspects: compatibility of the golf course with the surroundings (compatibility of trees and water plants, architectonics and influence on surroundings), the harmony of design and performance (analysis of the landscape dominants used, of view axis, selection of colors and use of helioplastics), the vertical and habitant variety that includes an assessment of distribution of obstacles on a golf course, functionality (play safety and universality) and originality of solutions applied in a golf course. The aspects mentioned are assessed using a point scale and the final value is the sum of partial values.

Opis:
River valleys are areas of transition between aquatic and terrestrial communities, with complex biological structure. As ecotones they have high biodiversity as a result of the occurrence of species with different requirements according to soil moisture. They create ecological corridors, allowing migration of the organisms in human disturbed landscape. With these migration routes, species of foreign origin which spread to a new area also benefit. Numerous alien species are considered as invasive, and described as a threat to biodiversity due to strong competitive abilities. To describe the relationships between a number of invasive species, biodiversity and size of a river, the vegetation of 750 m fragments of the Odra and Dobra river valleys on the area of the Wrocław city were analysed. The comparison of plant communities in the valley of a large, managed river (Odra) and its small tributary (Dobra) was carried out. The plant assemblages, occurring in study areas, determined the habitat conditions on the basis of Ellenberg’s indicator values (EIV’s), as well as Shannon-Wiener biodiversity index was defined. The designed sites differed according to Shannon-Wiener biodiversity index, as well as soil properties: moisture, reaction, and fertility. In the study side of the Odra river ruderal and scrub species were dominated, whereas in case of study site of the Dobra river – meadows and ruderal species. The invasive plant species occurring in the Odra valley are: Symphoricarpos albus, Solidago gigantea, S. canadensis, Robinia pseudoacacia, Clematis vitalba, Quercus rubra, Reynoutria japonica, Parthenocissus inserta and Echinocystis lobata, and in the Dobra valley: Solidago gigantea, S. canadensis. The analysis of correlation between Shannon-Wiener biodiversity index and share of invasive species revealed statistically significant influence of occurrence of invasive species on biodiversity of plant communities in case of the Odra river.
