Opis:
The process of mechanical cutting of magnetic materials has many advantages in the form of high efficiency with reduced process costs in relation to other cutting technologies; no thermal stresses in the material, which significantly deteriorate the magnetic properties; or the possibility of shaping materials taking into account long cutting lines. In industrial practice, it is very difficult to ensure appropriate conditions for the cutting process and its proper control. Currently, there are no data on the selection of technological parameters of the mechanical shear slitting process of grain-oriented silicon steel in terms of the obtained cutting surface quality and the obtained magnetic properties of the workpiece. The article presents the possibilities of forecasting the characteristic features of the cut edge and selected magnetic properties of grain-oriented silicon steel. For this purpose, proprietary numerical models using FEA (Finite Element Analysis) were used. Then, experimental studies were carried out, and the optimisation task was developed. The developed results enable the correct selection of technological parameters of the process, ensuring the appropriate quality of the cut edge of steel and minimal interference with the magnetic properties.

This paper describes findings in the surface topography of Ti6Al4V alloy after finish turning process under dry and MQL (minimum quantity lubrication) machining. The research was fulfilled in the range of variable feeds per revolution of 0.005-0.25 mm/rev and cutting speeds of 40-100 m/min using the depth of cut of 0.25 mm that fits finish processing conditions. The test plan was developed on the way to use the Parameter Space Investigation (PSI) method. The topography features were measured by a Sensofar S Neox optical profilometer using the Imaging Confocal Microscopy technique. Ra parameters and surface roughness profiles as well as 2D images and contour maps were analyzed. Under the studied machining conditions, lower Ra roughness parameters are obtained in the feed rate of 0.005-0.1 mm/rev and cutting speeds of 40-60 m/min. In comparison with dry machining, up to 17% reduction in Ra parameter values was obtained using the MQL method and vc = 70 m/min and f = 0.127 mm/rev as well as vc = 47.5 m/min and f = 0.22 mm/rev. Depending on the machining conditions, peaks and pits as well as feed marks typical for the turning process are observed on the machined surfaces.

Opis:
Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men. The incidence of prostate cancer increases systematically. The correlation between waiting time for oncological treatment and survival prognosis in prostate cancer is not clearly determined. The aim of the study was to estimate the waiting time from suspicion until prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment in Warmia and Mazury Voivodeship. Ninety-six consecutive prostate cancer patients treated with radical radiotherapy between November 2016 and June 2017 in the Department of Radiation Oncology of the Hospital of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with Warmia and Mazury Oncology Center in Olsztyn were included in the analysis. A questionnaire prepared especially for this study, and individual interviews with patients were used in the study. The obtained data was supplemented with medical records and hospital databases. In the case of twenty-nine men, the PSA concentration was measured due to urinary disorders, and the median time from symptoms until the first PSA test in that group was 168 days. The median time from PSA concentration > 4 ng/ml to biopsy of prostate cancer and start of treatment for all patients was 62 and 156 days, respectively. Hormone therapy was administered the quickest. A positive correlation was observed between the waiting time from histopathological confirmation of prostate cancer until treatment, and the distance from one’s place of residence to the oncological center (p < 0.05).

Opis:
The process of identity formation during the transition from adolescence into adulthood and its determinants are currently a central issue in the social sciences. On the one hand, the huge variety of possibilities presents the opportunity to expand the fields of exploration and to tailor commitments to individual aspirations and preferences. On the other hand, increasing instability and Bauman’s liquidity of the social environment of development may create threats that impede the making of decisions, engaging in their realization, and identifying with the choices made. James Marcia’s two-stage model of identity formation no longer adequately describes and accounts for paths of identity development. The dynamic dual-cycle model of identity formation developed by Koen Luyckx and collaborators is much more accurate. Although identity continues to develop throughout course of life, childhood, and adolescence in particular, seems to be pivotal from the point of view of which developmental trajectory the individual is on at the moment of his/her entry into adulthood. From this point of view, the factors which we regard as crucial for identity formation are shame proneness and shame regulation strategies on the one hand, and the system of personal beliefs about one’s life and related key social experiences which define the quality of social participation of adolescents on the other hand.

Opis:
Scheduling buses in public transport systems consists in assigning trips to vehicle blocks. To minimize the cost of fuel and environmental impact of public transport, the number of vehicle blocks used should be as small as possible, but sufficient to cover all trips in a timetable. However, when solving real life transportation problems, it is difficult to decide whether the number of vehicle blocks obtained from an algorithm is minimal, unless the actual minimal number is already known, which is rare, or the theoretical lower bound on the number of vehicles has been determined. The lower bound on the number of vehicle blocks is even more important and useful since it can be used both as a parameter that controls the optimization process and as the minimum expected value of the respective optimization criterion. Therefore, methods for determining the lower bound in transportation optimization problems have been studied for decades. However, the existing methods for determining the lower bound on the number of vehicle blocks are very limited and do not take multiple depots or heterogeneous fleet of vehicles into account. In this research, we propose a new practical and effective method to assess the lower bound on the number of vehicle blocks in the Multi-Depot Vehicle Scheduling Problem (MDVSP) with a mixed fleet covering electric vehicles (MDVSP-EV). The considered MDVSP-EV reflects a problem of public transport planning encountered in medium-sized cities. The experimental results obtained for a real public transport system show the great potential of the proposed method in determining the fairly strong lower bound on the number of vehicle blocks. The method can generate an estimated distribution of the number of blocks during the day, which may be helpful, for example, in planning duties and crew scheduling. An important advantage of the proposed method is its low calculation time, which is very important when solving real life transportation problems.

Opis:
This paper presents the problem of public transport planning in terms of the optimal use of the available fleet of vehicles and reductions in operational costs and environmental impact. The research takes into account the large fleet of vehicles of various types that are typically found in large cities, including the increasingly widely used electric buses, many depots, and numerous limitations of urban public transport. The mathematical multi-criteria mathematical model formulated in this work considers many important criteria, including technical, economic, and environmental criteria. The preliminary results of the Mixed Integer Linear Programming solver for the proposed model on both theoretical data and real data from urban public transport show the possibility of the practical application of this solver to the transport problems of medium-sized cities with up to two depots, a heterogeneous fleet of vehicles, and up to about 1500 daily timetable trips. Further research directions have been formulated with regard to larger transport systems and new dedicated heuristic algorithms.

Opis:
The paper presents evaluation of the surface topography obtained after turning of AISI 1045 steel with the use of cemented carbide tools diversified in terms of applied titanium-based coatings. During the research, three types of coatings deposited with the PVD method on a P25 sintered carbide insert were compared: nitride-titanium TiN, nitride-aluminum-titanium TiAlN and carbon-titanium TiC in a wide range of variable cutting speeds 125 - 325 m/min and variable feeds 0.05 - 0.25 mm/rev. The quality of the machined surface was assessed on the Sensofar S neox System optical profile meter using the confocal method. The paper presents the results of 3D parameters, contour maps, isometric views and material ratio curves. The surface topography analysis showed that for the TiAlN coated insert, lower surface roughness parameters were observed in the range of lower cutting speeds and higher feeds, while for higher cutting speeds, lower values of the selected 3D parameters were found for the insert with TiC coating. For the insert with TiC coating, the most even distribution of the valleys and ridges of the machined surface roughness was also observed. The research results determined the range of cutting parameters that allow the selection of the appropriate type of titanium-based coating when machining AISI 1045 steel.

The paper discusses two clinical cases of cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, in whom fractured and displaced tips of portacath catheters were revealed based on plain chest imaging. In the first case, the portacath fragment migrated to the left pulmonary artery, with the missing catheter tip revealed during the procedure of port removal due to its occlusion, with no other prior clinical symptoms. In the second case, the catheter broke off at the level of its entry into the subclavian vein, and migrated into the right cardiac ventricle, which was accompanied by mild pain and oedema in the subclavicular region. Both patients underwent successful procedures of percutaneous foreign body retrieval with the use of endovascular snares. The procedures were performed via femoral vein access, with no complications.
