Opis:
In this article image have been subject to segmentation using Matlab software, i.e. T1 in normal conditions, perfusion images and images after administering a contrast agent. The tumor in images made in normal conditions was difficult to identify. The images obtained after administering the contrast agent confirmed that the homogeneity criterion has been appropriately selected. In perfusion images the pixels of the background were added to the tumor. When the parameters were changed i.e. pixel counter or neighborhood type the method became more efficient; the tumor boundaries were outlined more precisely. The region growing method enables precise tumor detection; however, the selection of an appropriate homogeneity criterion is a prerequisite for correct segmentation.

Opis:
Under Directive 2002/49/EC relating to the assessment and management of environmental noise, all European countries are obliged to model their environmental noise levels in heavily populated areas. Some countries have their own national method, to predict noise but most have not created one yet. The recommendation for countries that do not have their own model is to use an interim method. The Dutch SRM II scheme is suggested for railways. In addition to the Dutch model, this paper describes and discusses 3 other national methods. Moreover, discrepancies between the HARMONOISE and IMAGINE projects are analysed. The results of rail traffic noise measurements are compared with national methods.

Opis:
Hydroxyapatite (HAp)/chitosan (CS) composites were synthesized via a one-step co-precipitation method from aqueous solution, with the use of calcium chloride (CaCl2) and disodium hydrogen phosphate (Na2HPO4). CS was obtained via partial deacetylation of chitin with the use of strong sodium hydroxide solution. Composites were prepared with various HAp/CS ratios (30/70, 50/50, 70/30, 85/15) for comprehensive comparison of their properties. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) analysis showed that hydrogen bonds were formed between the organic matrix and the mineral compound, confirming a successful phase interconnection. X-ray diffraction patterns were obtained, enabling examination of the crystalline properties of the composites, including HAp identification. The porous structure parameters of the composites were investigated, and morphological analysis (SEM) was performed. Differential Thermal Gravimetry (DTG) analysis of the composites indicated that the material is thermally stable up to 200 oC. Additionally, Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) analysis of the mineral was carried out to check the Ca/P ratio, and confirmed its similarity to pure HAp.
