Opis:
One year qualitative and quantitative study of communities of three major taxonomic groups has been carried out at test panles placed in the upper infarlittoral zone of coastal area of Vela Luka Bay, Croatia. A list of 44 taxa was recorded. Chaetomorpha sp., Ulva sp., Fosliella farinosa, Sphacelaria cirrosa, Polysiphonia scopulorum were the most frequent dominant taxa. Among 27 algal taxa with noticeable presence only three were classified as ESG (Ecological State Groups) I. Low diversity and species richness together with massive presence of the green algae (as Ulva sp.) and negligible presence of ESG I taxa, may lead to erroneous conclusion that Vela Luka Bay is eutrophicated area. Low values of biomass and R/P (Rhodophyceae by Phaeophyceae ratio) Index together with dominance of Phaeophyta also support conclusion that there is no negative impact of nutrient enrichment on macrophyta fouling community in Vela Luka Bay.

Opis:
This paper analyzes the external environmental costs and revenues of cruise traffic in the port of Split in 2015. In order to explore the perspectives of increasing the current mode of cruise traffic in the future, results were compared with those previously known for the port of Venice. The use of the same research methodology was an important condition for this comparison. The cruise tourism business has a negative balance sheet when comparing the costs and revenues in both cities: the external costs are higher than the revenues. Growing cruise traffic leads to further growth of the external costs, deepening the negative cost-benefit ratio. Valorization of damage is a sensitive topic which conflicts with the interests of various parties but is also an important factor in the apparent unsustainability of the current mode of cruise tourism. The authors want to highlight the similar problems of the two cities and encourage the authorities to implement the necessary controls to limit such damage.

Opis:
In June 2015 at the University of Split, Faculty of Maritime Studies, the project “Maritime Management for the 21st Century” started. The implementation of this project intended to promote the recognisability of the profession and qualifications in the field of maritime management on the labour market. One of the main objectives was to develop relations with the sector’s major employers through improving the quality of education by developing qualification standards and implementation of the Croatian Qualification Framework by upgrading the Maritime Management curriculum. The transparency and interoperability of data about qualification standards which give a clear definition of learning outcomes are of high importance for both the education sector and the sector’s major employers. This will help graduates to seek jobs matching their qualifications, to change jobs or to move between countries. Also, this solution will meet the demands of employers. In order to achieve this goal, the information about learning outcomes achieved by learners and units needs to be captured, managed and exchanged in common formats. This paper proposes a semantic model of the database for publishing qualification standards and developed categories of learning outcomes for standards in maritime management qualifications.
