The article presents a synthetic analysis of the crude oil market in Poland. As of today, this safety is provided mainly on the basis of native lignite and hard coal resources. However, the analysis of the hard coal market conducted by the authors indicates that the carried out mining restructuring (among others) led to an excessive reduction of mining volume and employment level in the hard coal mining sector. This led to a precedent situation when Poland became an importer of this energy carrier. In addition, the European Union’s requirements for greenhouse gas emissions must be taken into account. In connection with the above, it is necessary to search for new energy sources or technologies that enable hard coal to meet the requirements. It is possible to apply the so-called clean coal technologies that allow the greenhouse gas emissions generated during coal combustion to be reduced. As of today, they are not used on a mass scale, because the use of this type of technology involves additional financial expenses. However, taking into account that technologies have been growing faster and faster, are modernized in a shorter time, making a breakthrough discovery took hundreds of years, now it is often a few months, clean coal technologies can become the optimal solution in the near future. It is also necessary to diversify the sources of obtaining imported energy carriers. The article describes coal and crude oil in terms of their mutual substitution. The article is a continuation of research conducted by the authors. Previous publications presented considerations on analogous topics related to natural gas and renewable energy sources. The crude oil market in Poland was analyzed and forecasts for oil extraction and the demand in the world and Poland by 2023 were presented. The SARIMA model was also created. The model made it possible to obtain oil an prices forecast.
W artykule przedstawiono syntetyczną analizę rynku ropy naftowej w Polsce. Badania te mają niezwykle istotne znaczenie w kontekście zapewnienia bezpieczeństwa energetycznego Polski. Obecnie bezpieczeństwo to jest utrzymywane głównie na podstawie rodzimego węgla brunatnego i kamiennego. Przeprowadzona przez autorów analiza rynku węgla kamiennego wskazuje jednak, iż prowadzona restrukturyzacja górnictwa doprowadziła do nadmiernej redukcji wydobycia oraz zatrudnienia w sektorze górnictwa węgla kamiennego. Wywołało to precedensową sytuację, kiedy to Polska stała się importerem netto tego nośnika energii. Dodatkowo należy wziąć pod uwagę wymagania Unii Europejskiej w zakresie emisji gazów cieplarnianych. W związku z powyższym konieczne staje się poszukiwanie nowych źródeł energii bądź technologii umożliwiających węglowi kamiennemu sprostanie stawianym wymaganiom. Istnieje możliwość zastosowania tzw. czystych technologii węglowych pozwalających na ograniczenie emisji gazów cieplarnianych powstających podczas spalania węgla. Na dzień dzisiejszy nie są one stosowane na skalę masową, ponieważ korzystanie z tego typu technologii wiąże się z dodatkowymi nakładami finansowymi. Jednak biorąc pod uwagę, że w ostatnim czasie technologie rozwijają się coraz szybciej, są unowocześniane w coraz krótszym czasie, kiedyś przełomowe odkrycia dzieliły setki lat, dekady – teraz powstają one w rekordowym tempie nawet kilku miesięcy, to czyste technologie węglowe mogą stać się optymalnym rozwiązaniem już w niedalekiej przyszłości. Konieczne jest również zdywersyfikowanie źródeł pozyskania importowanych nośników energii. W artykule scharakteryzowano węgiel oraz ropę naftową pod kątem możliwości ich wzajemnej substytucji. Artykuł stanowi kontynuację prowadzonych przez autorów badań. Przeanalizowano rynek ropy naftowej w Polsce oraz zaprezentowano prognozy wielkości wydobycia i zapotrzebowania na ropę naftową na świecie i Polsce do roku 2023. Utworzono także model SARIMA, który umożliwił pozyskanie prognozy cen ropy naftowej. We wcześniejszych publikacjach przedstawiono rozważania o analogicznej tematyce odnośnie do gazu ziemnego oraz odnawialnych źródeł energii.

Polish energy security is based mainly on a coal. Such dependency will be still maintained for several years. It is therefore necessary to improve the economic situation of polish mining companies. The mining companies in Poland are operating under tremendous uncertainty of turbulent environment. The article presents used by the authors methods to facilitate the creation and selection of optimal production strategy. These are scenario planning, forecasting and linear programming, which allow the simulation of company operations in the future. The authors suggest the most successful and optimal forecasting models for the Polish mining industry, as well as factors affecting the demand for hard coal in Poland. The manuscript presents also possible to apply coal production strategies and the method of evaluation and selection of optimal strategy in the difficult conditions of Polish mining companies environment. This makes it possible to take a decision burdened with minor errors and less risk.

In this paper magnetic organic-inorganic hybrid membranes based on EC, PPO polymer matrices and various magnetic powder microparticles were synthesized and studied. Constant pressure permeation technique and the Time Lag method were used to obtain the gas transport coefficients. The mechanical, rheological and magnetic parameters of magnetic hybrid membranes were examined. It was found that their separation and gas transport properties (D, P, S and α) were improved with the decrease in powder particle size and the increase of membrane’s remanence, saturation magnetization and magnetic particle filling. The increase of the magnetic powder addition and a decrease of its granulation improved also mechanical and rheological parameters of the tested membranes. This improvement also had a positive effect on their gas separation properties and their potential usage in the future.

In this article the high temperature aging of epoxy pottedpolypyrrole coated polyester/nylon fabrics was investigated in order to assess whether they can be used in applications where temperature evaluation is common. A comparative analysis of various types of conductive fabrics was performed, including both woven and nonwoven, which were potted in epoxy resin and subjected to thermal aging. The results were compared with those obtained for polyimide/carbon ink coated quartz woven high temperature fabric. The results of the measurements were successfully approximated with analytical aging curves.
W pracy przeanalizowano wpływ wysokiej temperatury na obniżenie przewodności elektrycznej tekstyliów powlekanych polipyrolem, w celu oceny ich przydatności w zastosowaniach wysokotemperaturowych. Przeprowadzono analizę komparatywną dla różnych rodzajów tekstyliów przewodzących, takich jak tkaniny o różnym splocie i włókniny, które wcześniej poddano szczelnemu pokryciu żywicą epoksydową, a następnie starzeniu termicznemu. Wyniki porównano z rezultatami uzyskanymi dla tkaniny kwarcowej powlekanej przewodzącym kompozytem na bazie poliimidu i sadzy, przeznaczonej do zastosowań wysokotemperaturowych. Do zmierzonych wartości resystancji powierzchniowej starzonych tekstyliów dopasowano skutecznie analityczne krzywe starzenia.

Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) is a promising low temperature combustion technology which offers high fuel efficiency and extremely low exhaust emissions. However, there are still some pending issues to be resolved before the technology will achieve mass production level. Namely, combustion controllability should be improved and HCCI operating range should be widen. The latter is constrained by excessive combustion rates under high loads. In this study, advanced variable valve actuation strategies were applied to control auto-ignition timings and combustion rates. The examinations were conducted using single-cylinder research engine fuelled with directly injected gasoline. The HCCI combustion was achieved using negative valve overlap technique. The engine was run under boosted conditions, in an operation regime where acceptable pressure rise rate (PRR) level is usually exceeded. Selected valve timing sweeps were carried out within a scope of the experiments to evaluate PRR reduction potential. The obtained results manifested superior combustion controllability. Late exhaust valve closing enabled reduction of the amount of internally re-circulated exhaust, which propagated to the main event combustion. From the intake side, two effects were observed, i.e. variability of the intake air aspiration and variability of the apparent compression ratio. Both phenomena were found to affect combustion timings and rates.

One of the most important requirements in the design of diesel combustion systems is to reduce emissions of harmful chemical compounds contained in exhaust gases. Solution to this problem is sought by the use of advanced engine injection systems and accurate control of mixture formation inside a cylinder via split fuel injection. The differences in physical characteristics between traditional and alternative fuels can affect fuel metering, especially at short injection durations. Thus, the aim of the current study was to identify dynamic flow parameters of the Common Rail injector with the use of different fuels. The study involved Diesel available in retail and biodiesel fuel obtained by methyl esterification of fatty acids. Measurements were performed on a test stand designed for determination of injectors and injection pumps characteristics. Studies were carried out changing the following parameters: injection pressure in the range of 30-180 MPa, injection time in the range of 200-1600 microseconds. Each fuel was tested at temperature 40 and 60°C. The obtained test results showed that injection of different fuels provided variable amounts of fuel injected at short injection durations, which can affect mixture formation process as well as combustion. Effect of the dose of the injected fuel has a viscosity of used fuel.

In this study dynamic flow rates of a common rail injector using diesel fuel and different biofuels were determined. As biofuels, fatty acid methyl esters originating from canola, poultry, cattle and used cooking oil were tested. The tested fuels exhibited different physical properties e.g. density and viscosity. Measurements of the injector delivery rates were performed on a test stand designed for determination of injectors and injection pumps characteristics. Each fuel was tested at temperatures between 30 and 60°C, under injection pressure in the range of 30–180 MPa and injection time in the range of 200–1600 microseconds. The results showed differences in injector flow rates depending on used fuel, however different fuel properties affected amount of fuel injected especially at short injection durations.

Modern wheeled armoured vehicles are constructed as multipurpose. Universal construction of vehicle is achieved in two separate ways: as specialized versions of vase model or by using exchangeable mission-modules. Realization of various tasks requires different equipment; ensure adequate level of protection and firepower. Increase of protection level, implementation of weapon systems, characterized by high firepower despite technological advancement in this field affect vehicles weight increase and therefore, it also affects requirements for other vehicle systems. Ensuring high mobility requires use of high power, turbocharged diesel engines, hydro mechanical transmission, hydro pneumatics suspension, possibility of clearance adjustment, use of central wheel pumping system enabling tire pressure change according to the surface on witch vehicle runs. This study gathers and compares characteristics of selected wheeled armoured personnel carriers and determines possible directions of development for future wheeled vehicles.

Opis:
Bryophytes are small spore plants which occurs in all climates zones and plant formations. They form zonal (tundra) and azonal (bogs) environments or are integral part of other communities. They are very well adapted to the colonization of extreme and initial habitats. Civilization development has created for them adequate ecological niches like walls, roofs, sidewalks, lawns, parks or cemeteries. The bryophytes spontaneously colonize them, becoming an integral part of the small-town and metropolitan landscape. This paper presents the biology of bryophytes, pays attention to the key features enabling them to inhabit architectural elements. The role and place of these plants in the urbanized space were characterized, the urbanophile bryophyte species were pointed, and places in the cultural landscape where they abundantly grow were indicated. Also the potential exploiting of bryophytes in the urban conditions in utilitarian, functional and decorative form were highlighted.
Mszaki to niewielkie rośliny zarodnikowe obecne we wszystkich strefach klimatycznych i ekosystemach. Tworzą zonalne (tundra) i ekstrazonale (torfowiska) formacje roślinne lub są integralnym elementem innych zbiorowisk. Są bardzo dobrze przystosowane do kolonizacji ekstremalnych i inicjalnych siedlisk, a rozwój cywilizacyjny wykreował dla nich także nisze ekologiczne w postaci murów, dachów, chodników, trawników, parków czy cmentarzy. Mszaki spontanicznie je zasiedliły, stając się integralną częścią krajobrazów małomiasteczkowych i wielkomiejskich. W niniejszym opracowaniu przybliżono biologię mszaków, zwracając uwagę na cechy kluczowe przy zasiedlaniu elementów architektonicznych. Określono rolę i miejsce tych roślin w przestrzeni zurbanizowanej, wskazano gatunki urbanofilne oraz miejsca w krajobrazie kulturowym, gdzie obficie występują. Zwrócono także uwagę na potencjał wykorzystania mszaków w warunkach miejskich w utylitarnej, funkcjonalnej i dekora- cyjnej formie.

Taxonomic and biological-ecological information as well as literature pertaining to the eleven Polish representatives of glossiphoniid leeches are summarized. Taxonomic status of many species is unclear, and data on their life histories are often fragmentary. The existence of several different conflicting systems of glossiphoniid classification indicates that the taxonomical value of characters is unclear. The family requires a thorough modern revision. A new generic-level classification of the family is needed. Data on behaviour and life cycless of most species should be supplemented; anatomical variation and differences between the purported forms of glossiphoniid species should be re-examined. A detailed study on the life cycles and variation of the Polish members of the Glossiphoniidae would provide new and valuable data and would allow at least for proposing a good, modern standard of species description without which a world-wide revision is hardly possible.

Bedding-parallel calcite veins in Devonian rocks from the southern part of the Holy Cross Mountains Fold Belt in central Poland occur as tabular bodies on shallow dipping as well as vertical Late Paleozoic map-scale and mesoscopic fold limbs. The syntaxial and antitaxial bedding parallel veins contain kinematic indicators such as rotated blocks, fibre boundary steps, boudin trains, beef-like structures and congruous steps. These structures show a sense of movement consistent with the flexural slip typical of folding resulting from buckling during layer-parallel shortening. We propose the mechanism of the gradual formation of the veins and the progression of fabric development which is mostly consistent with an increasing dip angle of the fold limbs and their gradual deformation. Textures of the veins and kinematic indicators within the veins point to the syntectonic growth of calcite during the Late Paleozoic buckle folding in the Holy Cross Mountains Fold Belt.

The article characterizes first general geological (lithological-stratigraphical) maps presenting Quaternary deposits in Northern Poland. These were the maps of territory of the Prussian partition, elaborated by German geologists from Prussian Geological Survey “Königlich Preussische Geologische Landesanstalt”. After Poland regained its independence they became a basis for many Polish geological publications. The article discusses the chronology and objectives of the main cartographic works of German geologists operating in the area of present-day Northern Poland (general and detailed geological maps) and briefly presents the methodology of geological mapping of lowlands at the scale of 1:25,000. The authors present initial results of the sheet inventory of the Prussian geological map at the scale of 1:25,000 owned by the Polish Geological Institute – National Research Institute (PGI–NRI). Quick search of Prussian map sheets is enabled with the created GIS data base which contains basic information about sheets, i.e. map title, year, author/authors, sheet title and topographic map designation. The applied relations between data and their spatial reference make it possible to dynamically generate section map and perform spatial analyses of any type. The multiuser geodatabase was created using ESRI and Oracle technologies. Until now the inventory covered the sheets available in the archives of the Marine Geology Branch of PGI–NRI in Gdańsk and the Pomeranian Branch of PGI–NRI in Szczecin. The article also presents examples of Prussian topographic and geological maps used to realize the objectives of the surface geology of Poland. Sheets of Prussian maps are a very valuable basis for elaboration of general and detailed Polish geological maps. Prussian maps make it possible to recreate the earlier geological, geomorphological and hydrographic picture of terrains which are now highly developed and antropogenically transformed. They are often used for the purpose of various time-spatial analyses, mostly to evaluate the dynamics and pace of erosional and accumulative coastal processes of the Southern Baltic coast. The maps of this type help to reconstruct and forecast the development of river mouths and to recreate the location of excavations and inactive open-cut mines of sand, gravel, clay, brown coal and amber. Old maps documenting the exact location of exploited deposits have practical application in geo-tourism.

Opis:
The phenomenon of vapour cavitation due to water hammer is investigated ex-perimentally using high frequency pressure transducers (piezoelectric and strain gauges). The water hammer is caused by a sudden closure of a ball valve mounted at the end of the steel pipe. A short-duration pressure pulse, as well as high frequency cavitation pressure oscillations is observed. The high frequency pressure oscillations appear just after the vapour cavity collapse, whereas the pressure pulse does not occur immediately after collapse but is delayed from 0 to the water hammer period $2L/c$, s. The experiments have shown that the maxi-mum high frequency pressure oscillation, directly proportional to the pressure wave velocity, can be many times higher than the maximum water hammer pres-sure amplitude as well as short-duration pressure pulse. The influence of liquid evaporation duration and the steady state losses on the maximum high frequency cavitation pressure oscillation are shown. Growing pressure reduction is accom-panied by gas desorption from the liquid. The liberated air reduces the amplitude of the pressure increase and prolongs the period of oscillations. The experiments have shown that there are three phases of the maximum amplitude of high fre-quency pressure oscillations for each fixed steady state loss. The frequency of va-pour cavitation pressure oscillations depends on the duration of the oscillations. For the test cases, the frequency increases during the cavitation from ca. 400 to 900 Hz for steel pipes.
