    The world economy is on the verge of technological revolution which is profoundly changing the way of the operation of enterprises. The signpost of the transformation of the world industry is the vision of Industry 4.0, which is a response to contemporary challenges and gives grounds for creating significant competitive advantages of modern enterprises. In the paper, the author attempts to respond to the question concerning what Industry 4.0 is, what opportunities it provides and what challenges it poses. The objective of the paper will be to describe the case study of the enterprise predisposing to the implementation of revolutionary changes associated with the concept of Industry 4.0.

    Opis:
    Purpose: The objective of the article is to present the condition of Polish universities and trends occurring in distance learning and e-learning. The results of the research conducted among students of Polish universities (N-2226), who were forced to the transition to distance learning from day to day, are presented in the article. Using well-known statistical measures, the correlations between the selected factors have been indicated. The research results on the correlations between the following variables have been presented – the opinions on the need for the transition to distance learning during the pandemic and: • gender, • age, • taking up employment in addition to studying, • an opportunity to study in a separate room. Design/methodology/approach: For the research purposes, a well-known Internet Survey Panel was utilized, which was used to create and manage the surveys as well as to collect the results. The bivariate analysis was used, the objective of which was to determine the empirical relationship between the selected variables. In the research, among others, the following were used: Chi-Square Test for Independence, Phi-Square Test for Independence, Spearman’s rank correlation test. For the data with the responses specified on the ordinal scale in the correlation analysis, Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient was used. Findings: The change in the teaching method which has been experienced in relation to the global pandemic may prove to be a breakthrough and give rise to changes in student education so as to educate the future staff of Industry 4.0 using distance learning. Increasing students’ involvement in the learning process may help them acquire competences useful in their professional life more effectively.

    Opis:
    The article describes the impact of the economic crisis caused by the global COVID-19 pandemic on enterprises from the service outsourcing industry operating in 11 European countries. The following research objectives have been indicated: 1) learning the opinions of managers on the crisis and its impact on the company, 2) indicating positive and negative features of the economic situation related to the global pandemic, 3) the analysis of the financial situation during the pandemic. The methodology adopted in the research is based on the descriptive approach, using the case study analysis. For the purposes of the research, the structured interview questionnaire was used. The questions asked concerned the description of the specificity of the business, the company’s location, the impact of the economic crisis on the situation of enterprises, the description of the positive and negative impact of the crisis on the operation of enterprises. The area of interest covered the subjective opinions of managers on the existing economic situation, which is metaphorically compared to the black swan in the article. The research conducted in the companies from 11 European countries indicated that in the period of March-August 2020, due to the strong dependence of the sector on the automotive industry, the companies were affected by the crisis. The turnover and the number of employees decreased dramatically. The slow recovery of contractors from the crisis as well as the change in customer approach to staff employment have changed the operating conditions of the quality outsourcing sector companies. Flexible adaptation to customer requirements has brought about that all the analyzed companies recorded an increase in the sales of their services, counting on the further good prosperity of the industry.
    W artykule opisano wpływ kryzysu gospodarczego wywołanego globalną pandemią COVID-19 na przedsiębiorstwa z branży outsourcingu usług działające w 11 krajach Europy. Wskazano na następujące cele badawcze: 1) poznanie opinii menedżerów na temat kryzysu i jego wpływu na firmę, 2) wskazanie pozytywnych i negatywnych cech sytuacji gospodarczej związanej z pandemią światową, 3) analiza sytuacji finansowej podczas pandemii. Metodologia przyjęta w badaniu opiera się na podejściu opisowym, wykorzystując analizę studium przypadku. Na potrzeby badań wykorzystano ustrukturyzowany kwestionariusz wywiadu. Zadawane pytania dotyczyły opisu specyfiki działalności, lokalizacji firmy, wpływu kryzysu gospodarczego na sytuację przedsiębiorstw, opisu pozytywnego i negatywnego wpływu kryzysu na działalność przedsiębiorstw. W obszarze zainteresowania znalazły się subiektywne opinie menedżerów na temat istniejącej sytuacji gospodarczej, którą w artykule porównano metaforycznie do czarnego łabędzia. Badania przeprowadzone w firmach z 11 krajów europejskich wskazały, że w okresie marzec-sierpień 2020 r., ze względu na silne uzależnienie sektora od branży motoryzacyjnej, firmy zostały dotknięte kryzysem. Obroty i liczba pracowników drastycznie spadły. Powolne wychodzenie kontrahentów z kryzysu, a także zmiana podejścia klientów do zatrudniania pracowników zmieniły warunki działania firm z sektora outsourcingu wysokiej jakości. Elastyczne dostosowywanie się do wymagań klientów sprawiło, że wszystkie analizowane firmy odnotowały wzrost sprzedaży swoich usług, licząc na dalszą dobrą koniunkturę branży.

    Currently, the conditions enterprises are operating in are marked by considerable instability. Thus the changes they may undergo are difficult to predict. Practitioners and theoreticians of management science point to various approaches to building competitive advantage. In the past few years, the focus has been put mainly on information and knowledge. According to advocates of the knowledge management concept, knowledge is of key importance to building competitive advantage and succeeding on the market. The issues of knowledge and how it is gathered, updated and applied are not new. The challenge for contemporary entrepreneurs is, however, how to manage knowledge in global enterprises. The aim of this study is to analyse the issue of knowledge management in a company which based its development on expansion into foreign markets. The research method applied is illustrative case study, the aim of which is to show how important knowledge management is for improving the efficiency of an internationalized enterprise.

    Objectives The diverse list of tasks and needs related to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic may lead to different professional experiences in nurses working with patients infected with and not infected with SARS-CoV-2. The aim of the study was to measure the professional challenges of nurses working during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic in Poland. Material and Methods The study was conducted in 2021 in a group of 151 nurses. The following scales were used: the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10), the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES), the Impact of Event Scale – Revised (IES-R), the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ-SF), the Areas of Worklife Survey (AWS) and the Maslach Burnout Inventory – Human Services Survey (MBIHSS). Results Nurses working with patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 showed a positive correlation between workload and emotional exhaustion (ρ = 0.26, p = 0.02), as well as positive correlations among control, community and depersonalization (ρ = 0.25, p = 0.02; ρ = 0.23, p = 0.04). Among nurses working with uninfected patients, positive correlations were found among control, community, fairness and emotional exhaustion (ρ = 0.40, p = 0.000; ρ = 0.41, p = 0.000; ρ = 0.25, p = 0.03), as well as correlations between control and depersonalization (ρ = 0.33, p = 0.01), and among control, community and personal accomplishment (ρ = 0.23, p = 0.05; ρ = 0.27, p = 0.02). Conclusions Nurses working during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic with infected and uninfected patients both experienced a variety of psychosocial challenges in coping with the demands of their work, social relationships and personal life.
