Opis:
The basic economic goal of pig iron process is to produce a finished product at the highest possible quality and at the lowest possible cost. The quality of pig iron depends on the quality of raw materials used in the process, quality of fuels and process parameters. The cost of fuel is one of the basic component of cost of pig iron production. Therefore, consumption of fuels should be minimized while maintaining its high quality. The main technological fuel of this process is blast furnace coke. Very often, cheaper alternative kinds of fuels are used in the form of finer sorts of coke or alternative fuels (e.g. coal dust). However, they can be used only in a limited amount. The aim of the paper is the assessment of the selected quality parameters of stabilized coke used in the blast furnace process and the comparison of their values with requirements.

Opis:
Steel is currently main structural material in the world. Pig iron, which is the basic product of blast furnace process, is the semi-product used in steel-making processes. It is an alloy of iron with carbon containing above 2% C and other elements with limited content, intended for further processing. Chemical composition of pig iron is its basic quality factor, it defines its class and meeting requirements set by steel plant department. It is important that this chemical composition is as stable as possible. In addition, the temperature of pig iron is also very important quality parameter. The paper presents statistical analysis of quality parameters of pig iron produced in one of Polish steelworks. The content of alloying elements and temperature of tapping of pig iron from blast furnace were examined. The amount of non-conforming production and the losses related to the low quality were assessed.

The chapter deals with results of cooperation within the project Electromobility in Czech-Polish Cross border Area. The electromobility is presented in comprehensive environmental and social background. The introduction is aimed at transport emission of exhaust gases resulting in global warming and harmful impact on the environment quality. The environment analysis is reflected in view of transport and passenger cars production. The chapter presents results of society analysis defining its attitude to electromobility in the region. The methodology of public questioning was chosen to reveal possibilities for electromobility development in Czech-Polish cross border area. The questions of the survey were formulated to record a public attitude and view of electromobility. The respondents’ answers reflect their awareness of this new sustainable transport.

Opis:
The paper deals with possibilities of low carbon technology application in metallurgy. It sums up the world wide experience with them and presents possibilities of their application in metallurgical production in view of carbon dioxide emission responsible for greenhouse effect and global warming of the Earth. It summarizes research projects in this field and presents the results and conclusion resulting from them. It is aimed at the possibilities of low carbon application in sinter and subsequently in blast furnace process. It presents research on reducibility of metallurgical ekosinter produced with share of biomass in comparison with sample of industrial one. It describes the testing methodology carried out in accordance with ISO 4695:2007. The samples were tested in reduction atmosphere created by 40% CO2 and 60% N2 simulating conditions in blast furnace aggregate at temperature 950°C. The obtained results confirmed better reducibility rate of ekosinter which reached the reduction index (dR/dt) 1.15, in comparison with industrial sinter of reduction index 0.83.

Opis:
In recent years, the importance of production in cyberphysical systems - CPS characteristic of the new industry concept, which is Industry 4.0 -I 4.0, is gaining importance. Industry 4.0 enforces modification of traditional perception of production. The basis for changes in Industry 4.0 has become Internet of Things - IoT, which gives the opportunity to connect and communicate with each other such areas as mobile solutions, cloud computing, sensors, analytics and cyber security. By new technology, areas that previously operated in enterprises as separate systems can be combined and create new opportunities for industrial production (modernization of production methods and reduce employment). Industry 4.0 brings with it a number of new challenges for producers in the field of environmental protection, and related to the inclusion of cybernetic technology in physical production processes as well as distribution. Production starts and ends on the customer. Industry 4.0 is a collective term for technologies and concepts of value chain organization. The United Nations Organization for Industrial Development indicates the following environmental aspects in the perspective of the development of Industry 4.0, such as: climate change and limited access to resources, primarily to clean energy. It is assumed that changes in the production and functioning of economies will result in a decrease in the emission of harmful compounds into the atmosphere and increase the flexibility of activities for environmental protection. The purpose of this work is to present general directions of changes in the field of environmental protection in Industry 4.0. Authors present the following areas of change: energy management and material management. These areas are opportunities for environmental. In the category of threats, the growing costs of environmental protection and household expenses are pointed out. The work is based on a literature study and statistical data. Statistical data are used: integrated technologies, expenditure and costs of environmental protection, recycling of secondary raw materials and energy consumption for the EU and Poland.

Possibilities Of Use Of Degassing And Carbon Gas In Industry. Degassing Gas Represents A Waste During Coal Mining So Far And This Issue Is Not Effectively Solved In Ostrava Region Up Till Now Ecological Aspects, Safety, Economic Aspects. Coal Deposits Represent A Special Case In Which The Deposit Is Both A Source Of Coal And Reservoir Of Gas. For The Thing Is That, In The Process Of Coalification Of Plant Residue, Coal Bed Gas Came Into Being Of Which The Main Component Is Methane. Gas From Mining Degassing Can Be Used As A Substitute Fuel For The Blowing Of Blast Furnaces. This Would Not Only Make It Possible To Reduce The Specific Consumption Of Coke, But Also Contribute To A Better Blast Furnace. An Economic Effect Is Also Negligible If We Characterize Degassing Gas As Waste Gas.

Opis:
This study analysed the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles’(FCEVs’) life cycles. These included models running on hydrogen derived from coke oven gas (COG), which is a by-product of the coking process of coal and includes hydrogen, methane, and other gases. FCEVs and hydrogen have the potential to drive future mobility. Hydrogen can be separated from the COG in the process of pressure swing adsorption to obtain a purity of hydrogen that meets the requirements of a hydrogen FCEV. An environmental life cycle assessment (LCA) of FCEV powered by hydrogen produced from Polish COG was conducted. The direction of hydrogen production strategies in Poland was also presented. The analyses included the entire life cycle of FCEVs with the production of hydrogen from COG in a Polish coke plant. A comparative analysis of FCEVs and other alternative fuels was conducted, and the main determinants of GHG emissions of FCEV were given. Importantly, this is the first attempt at an environmental assessment of FCEVs in Poland.

This paper describes interesting operational experiments have been performed in the scope of the project where the process of melting deoxidation was used under improvised conditions of cold blast cupola furnace. The goal was to find out metallurgical effects of added self-reducing briquettes prepared from steel sludge into cupola furnace charge and above all to verify the grade of deoxidation of oxides of iron at keeping output quality of cast metal. Present state of research and development of technologies of iron production in the area of commercial exploitation of these technologies is not in such a position that we could realistically assess their efficiency, investment costs and economic impacts. Moreover, an unequivocal requirement on minimization of CO2 emissions, mainly by its recycling, is here more and more promoted.
