The fundamental aim of this research was to study changes in the physical properties of spaghetti during cooking and after the first hour of storage. In addition, the research evaluated the cooking properties of pasta. For testing purposes, eight samples of spaghetti, produced using semolina and common wheat flour, were used. After cooking, the samples of spaghetti were stored for 2, 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 min. After storage, the samples of cooked spaghetti were cut, and both the cutting force (hardness) and the cutting energy (firmness) of the samples were determined. It was found that, after storage, the cutting force and energy of cooked pasta decreased, in average terms, from 1.0 to 0.44 N and from 0.84 to 0.43 mJ, respectively. The statistical analysis showed a significant correlation between the storage time and the textural parameters of pasta. The hardness and firmness of pasta, which was al dente after cooking, were found to decrease about twice during storage, as a result of water migration. The hardness of pasta stabilised after 50 min of the storage of cooked spaghetti. Moreover, the obtained data revealed that the diameter increase index of spaghetti could indicate the quality of pasta.

Opis:
The objective of this article is to present the methodology of assessing the value of water reservoirs as well as the need for conducting such assessment. The paper discusses the methods most often applied for the utilization of pits reclaimed in water mode. The choice of the method used for the assessment of water reservoirs depends on the mode of utilization and the economic possibilities of the reservoir. The basic methods used for the assessment of the value of the mentioned reservoirs include: the economic approach or the comparative method (in specific cases one may also use the mixed method). The first of these methods may be used only when the property will be used for economic purposes while in the majority of other cases the comparative method is used. The article presents examples of water real estate valuations in Poland.
Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie metodyki wyceny zbiorników wodnych oraz potrzeb jej wykonywania. W pracy omówiono najczęściej spotykane sposoby zagospodarowania wyrobisk rekultywowanych w kierunku wodnym. Wybór metody wyceny zbiornika zależy od sposobu zagospodarowania i możliwości gospodarczego wykorzystania akwenu. Do podstawowych metod wykorzystywanych przy wycenie rzeczonych nieruchomości stosuje się zazwyczaj dwie metody - dochodową lub porównawczą (w szczególnych przypadkach można zastosować metodę mieszaną). Pierwsza ma zastosowanie tylko wówczas, gdy sprzedawana nieruchomość będzie wykorzystywana w celach zarobkowych, w większości pozostałych przypadków wykorzystuje się metodę porównawczą. W artykule przedstawiono także aktualne wyceny rynkowe nieruchomości znajdujących się pod wodą.

Various types and parameters of terrorist IEDs were shown in brief. The parameters and properties of cylinder-shaped protective containers “EPISAFE” and Bomb Killer for protection against threat of such bombs’ fragments were presented. The results of tests on several versions of multilayered, cylinder-shaped, paraaramide fibrous covers were analyzed with the elaborated methodology of assaying the protective performance of lightweight covers. The tests involved standard fragments and bear balls of various diameters as the pelting elements, propelled with the blast of TNT bar explosion. The resulting depths were listed of pelting elements penetration into various layers of cylinder-shaped covers, fabric screens and the soldier cardboard figures, placed 1 up to 10 m away of the TNT bar. The rate of decrease of results of blast of TNT bars with pelting elements, which have been located inside two lightweight textile covers and inside the big “Episafe” container were assayed.
Przedstawiono skrótowo różne typy i parametry bomb terrorystycznych typu IED. Do ochrony przed rażeniem odłamkami z tych bomb zaprezentowano parametry i właściwości kontenerów cylindrycznych ochronnych typu „Episafe” oraz Bomb Killer. Z użyciem opracowanej metodyki oceny skuteczności ochronnej lekkich osłon analizowano wyniki badań kilku wersji wielowarstwowych cylindrycznych paraaramidowych osłon włóknistych. W badaniach użyto elementów rażących w postaci odłamków standardowych i kulek łożyskowych o różnej średnicy, napędzanych wybuchem detonującej kostki TNT. Zestawiono wyniki głębokości wnikania elementów rażących w różne warstwy osłon cylindrycznych, w ekrany z tkaniny oraz w tekturowe figury żołnierzy, umieszczone w odległościach 1÷10 m od kostki TNT. Oceniono stopień zmniejszenia skutków wybuchu kostek TNT z elementami rażącymi, które były umieszczone w dwóch lekkich osłonach włókienniczych oraz w dużym kontenerze „Episafe”.

We investigate optical conductivity in three dimensional system of bosons under strong magnetic field. In particular, we consider Bose Hubbard model in the strongly correlated limit, where Mott insulator phase emerges. For chosen rational number of magnetic flux per cell we show that response of the system gains complex peaks behavior on the order of frequency corresponding to on-site boson repulsive interaction. Moreover, when anisotropy in hopping energy for the direction parallel to magnetic field is tuned up, the non-monotonous behavior of the optical conductivity could appear. The obtained results can be experimentally probed in the system of ultracold atoms loaded on an optical lattice.

Introduction. Overweight and obesity, as well as a gonadal function, are pivotal factors influencing bone tissue metabolism. Materials and method. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of dietary induced obesity (DIO) on bone tissue metabolism in sham-operated (SHO) or ovariectomized (OVX) adult female Wistar rats. Additionally, the influence of DIO in SHO or OVX on the concentration of sclerostin in the blood serum was analyzed. After SHO or OVX, the rats were placed in groups (n=8) and either received a standard diet (11.5 MJ/kg) (SHO-CON; OVX-CON) or a high-energy diet (17.6 MJ/kg) (SHO-FAT; OVX-FAT). The experiment lasted for 90 days and allowed for the establishment of osteopenia in OVX females and obesity in the rats that had received the high-energy diet. Results. The results of the study demonstrate that obesity or/and ovariectomy increases the resorption of femora and tibiae, hence decreasing the densitometric and mechanical parameters affecting the bone structure in adult females rats. The strongest osteodegenerative effect was seen in the OVX-FAT females. Interestingly, the degree of bone tissue degradation caused exclusively by ovariectomy was similar to that found in the obese sham-operated rats. Conclusions. Bone losses invoked by DIO seem to be independent from the Wnt/β-catenin pathway inhibition induced by sclerostin. While further study is necessary, the obtained results suggest that the usage of sclerostin anti-body in the treatment of osteoporosis can be ineffective, and in obese patients the undertaking of such therapy should be reassessed.

There is high demand for storage related services supporting scientists in their research activities. Those services are expected to provide not only capacity but also features allowing for more exible and cost ecient usage. Such features include easy multiplatform data access, long term data retention, support for performance and cost dierentiating of SLA restricted data access. The paper presents a policy-based SLA storage management model for distributed data storage services. The model allows for automated management of distributed data aimed at QoS provisioning with no strict resource reservation. The problem of providing users with the required QoS requirements is complex, and therefore the model implements heuristic approach for solving it. The corresponding system architecture, metrics and methods for SLA focused storage management are developed and tested in a real, nationwide environment.
