Opis:
The laboratory experiment was carried out in 2008-2009. It consisted of several series of measurements, which were designed to evaluate the effect of magnetized water on seeding value and growth of seedlings and the weight of selected plant species. The results confirmed a diverse reaction of assessed species seeds towards the type of water used. Mag¬netized water stimulated the seed germination of garden savory and rape, while had no effect on the seeds of yellow lupine. In case of the seeds of buckwheat, this parameter decreased under the influence of magnetized water in the first six days of the experiment. A beneficial effect of bio-stim¬ulation with magnetized water on the rate of growth of the aboveground parts of seedlings was recorded. The positive effect related to all species. The greatest stimulation was observed in buckwheat and garden savory. The use of magnetized water reduced the growth rate of roots at garden savory and buckwheat, while it increased the growth of winter rape roots. It had no effect in yellow lupine. The type of water exerted a significant influence on the fresh weight and roots of seedlings. Regardless of the assessed species, the use of magnetized water resulted in a significant increase in fresh weight and roots by 6% and 9%. No significant influence of the water type on dry matter of seedlings of analysed plant was assessed.

Opis:
The study was conducted in 2008-2009 at the Agricultural Experimental Station in Lipnik near Stargard, on sandy soil. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of sub-crown irrigation on the yield leaves photosynthesis and transpiration capacity, as well as CO2 concentration in the stomatal cells, and leaf greenness index of early ‚Geneva Early’ cv. and late ‚Rubinola’ cv. apple cultivars. Irrigation was applied in the form of the sub-crown system, in which water is distributed through a mini-sprayers of Hadar type when water potential of soil fell below - 0.01 MPa. The experiment was established in a randomized sub-block pattern (split-plot) in 10 replicates. The study was conducted using the four-year-old trees. The trees were planted at 4×2 m spacing; one hectare was planted with 1250 trees. Turf was maintained between the trees, while herbicide fallow was applied in rows. Plant material for laboratory tests was collected each year in three dates: fruit setting (date 1), harvest (date 2) and one month after the harvest (date 3). Studies have shown that leaves of the irrigated apple trees were lower content of assimilation pigments in leaves than non-irrigated ones. Leaves of late ‘Rubinola’ cv. showed higher photosynthetic activity and pigments content than early ‘Geneva Early’ cv. Pigment content was the highest at the second date of measurements. Better yielding late variety ‚Rubinola’ characterized by a greater intensity of transpiration, stomatal conductance and CO2 concentration leaves than the early va riety ‚Geneva Early’. The applied irrigation significantly increased the fruit yield and also increased the fruits weight of both varieties. Among the varieties of apple trees higher yield and fruit mass was found in the late variety ‚Rubinola’. This treatment and the earliness of varieties had no significant effect on the content of other macro- and micronutrients.

Opis:
Most of the studies on the effects of salinity stress are conducted on ornamental bedding plants and perennials but little is known on flower bulbs response to this stress factor. Ornithogalum saundersiae is an attractive bulbous plant recommended for growing in pots, gardens and green areas. The study conducted in the years 2013–2014 investi-gated the effects of NaCl on the growth, flowering, photosynthetic activity, pigment content, and macro- and micronutrient content in the leaves of O. saundersiae. The plants were grown in pots in a plastic tunnel. NaCl was applied once a week for six weeks at concentration of 100 mM or 200 mM. The salt treatment did not cause chlorosis and did not affect flowering rate and number of inflorescences. The plants exposed to salinity stress had lower fresh weight of leaves, inflorescences and bulbs and their flowering be-gan later than in the control plants. Photosynthesis and transpiration intensity decreased as NaCl concentration increased. The content of chlorophyll and carotenoids in NaCl treated plants was significantly higher than in the control plants. Salinity stress increased the leaf content of nitrogen, potassium, sodium and chlorine and reduced the concentration of calcium, zinc and iron.
W wyniku zasolenia wzrosła zawartość w liściach azotu, potasu, sodu i chloru, natomiast spadła zawartość wapnia, cynku i żelaza.

The field experiment was carried out in 2004-2006 in Chlebówko localized 20 km from Stargard Szczeciński and 5 km north-east from Stara Dąbrowa commune - 53°27’N and 15°10’E. The area is elevated 62-72 m above mean se level (ASL). The influence of irrigation, tillage system, and NPK mineral nutrition on weed infestation of faba bean variety ‘Titus’ with determined development rate, was evaluated. The weed infestation degree in the faba bean plantation depended on moisture conditions, fertilization rates, and tillage system. Irrigation increased the number, fresh weight, and dry matter of weeds, respectively by 92%, 130%, and 138%. Likewise, increasing nutrition elevated values of these parameters by 46%, 80%, and 95%. The tillage simplifications enhanced the weed population, particularly on irrigated and fertilized objects. Irrigation, mineral nutrition, and simplified tillage caused compensation of spring, winter and perennial weed species on plantation of faba bean ‘Titus’. Chenopodium album, Stellaria media, and Polygonum convolvulus predominated on studied plots.

Leaves can be a valuable source of biologically active compounds that effectively protect the body against oxidative stress and resulting disease. The aim of the experiment was to determine the effect of a genotype and water conditions on the phytochemical substances and antioxidant activity of leaves of sweet cherry cv. Vanda and plum cv. Amers. The study was conducted at the Experimental Station in Lipnik, Poland, in 2017 and 2018. The soil on which the experiment was conducted belongs to the typical rusty soil group and is classified as a Haplic Cambisol. In the Ap level (arable-humus horizon), it has the granulometric composition of clay with a slightly acidic pH. The first experimental factor was a genotype (sweet cherry and plum). The second factor was under-crown watering; half of the trees from each variety were subjected to irrigation (W), and half were used as the control group (O), without irrigation, and with the soil water potential below – 0.01 MPa. Hadar micro-sprinklers were used for watering, sprinkler range r=1 m and efficiency of 2.5l h-1; one sprinkler per tree. It was found that the leaves of both species are abundant in compounds (macro- and microelements, crude protein, antioxidants, vitamins) with pro-health activities, including antioxidant, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory effects. They are especially characterized by high antioxidant activity. By-products of plant production, such as cherry and plum leaves, can be a valuable and relatively cheap raw material for the production of food, pharmaceuticals or nutraceuticals, and, in times of insufficient feed supply, a valuable supplement to the feed of grazing animals.

Doświadczenia polowe przeprowadzono w latach 2005 i 2006 w dwóch miejscowościach: Lipniku, koło Stargardu Szczecińskiego (gleba klasy bonitacyjnej IVb, kompleks przydatności rolniczej żytni dobry), i Kruszynie Krajeńskim, koło Bydgoszczy (gleba klasy bonitacyjnej V, kompleks przydatności rolniczej żytni słaby. Doświadczenia założono w układzie zależnym „split-plot” w 3 powtórzeniach. Badano dwa czynniki: nawadnianie (kontrola, deszczowanie) i nawożenie azotem (0, 40, 80 i 120 kg N·ha–1). W warunkach gleby lekkiej (Lipnik) deszczowanie zwiększyło plony ziarna o 0,6 t·ha–1 (17%). Wzrastające dawki nawożenia azotowego (od 0 do 120 kg N·ha–1) spowodowały (w warunkach deszczowania) istotny przyrost plonu ziarna prosa do poziomu 4,53 t·ha–1 na glebie V klasy i 4,07 t·ha–1na glebie klasy IVb.

Opis:
The aim of the study was to determine the influence of microirrigation (microjet sprinkling and drip irrigation) and organic fertilization (compost prepared on the base of sewage sludge) on a seedling vigour of one-year and two-year old Scot pine seedlings (Pinus sylvestris L.), cultivated on a post-agricultural ground with the use of zoo-melioration in two different regions. Field experiments were carried out on an experimental field in Kruszyn Krajeński (loose sandy soil of quality class VI) near Bydgoszcz and in Lipnik near Stargard Szczeciński (sandy soil of quality class IVb). The first row factor was irrigation used in three treatments: without irrigation (control), drip irrigation, microjet sprinkling. The second row factor was fertilization, used in two variants: mineral fertilization (standard applied in forest nurseries), organic fertilization (compost). The irrigation significantly increased the height and the diameter of the Scot pine seedlings. There were no significant differences in the characters of the growth between the two irrigation systems. Fertilization of Scot pine seedlings with the compost increased significantly the height of seedlings. Interaction of irrigation with organic fertilization of Scot pine seedling height and diameter was noted. Pine seedlings grown on the plots fertilized with compost under irrigation conditions were characterized by increased height and diameter. Better effects were obtained in Lipnik than in Kruszyn Krajeński. Joint effect of organic fertilization and microjet sprinkling positively influenced the density and the species number of Oribatida in Kruszyn Krajeński. The obtained results indicated that the amelioration measures used can positively influence the growth of Scot pine seedlings on a post-agricultural ground.

Opis:
The aim of the study was to determine the influence of organic fertilization and mulching on the seedling vigour of European larch (Larix decidua Mill.) and occurrence of soil mites (Acari) in forest- and post-arable soils. Two different nursery experiments were carried out in the vegetation period of the year 2005 on light soils at two sylvan-natural regions of Poland. The first trial was conducted at Białe Błota near Bydgoszcz – on a brown podzolic soil. The second experiment – at Lipnik near Stargard Szczeciński – on an acid brown soil. The higher was the rainfall amount during the vegetation period, the lower was the seasonal irrigation rate supplied to European larch seedlings. Because of this the seasonal irrigation water rate applied at Białe Błota was higher than that at Lipnik. European larch seedlings grown on the forest soil were characterized by the increased height and the fresh mass than those cultivated on the post-arable ground. Seedlings grown in the forest soil on treatments mulched with litter were characterized by the increased height and the fresh mass of above-ground parts as compared to those cultivated on control plots (without mulching). Mulching with litter increased the number of mites, especially oribatid mites, as well as their species diversity. It can be recognized as the result of the positive influence of the mulching on the biological properties of the studied soils.

Scots pine seedlings grown on the forest soil at Białe Błota were characterized by increased height than those cultivated on the post-arable land at Lipnik. The best results, both on the forest soil as well as on the post-arable ground, were obtained in the case of treatment SN1 (plots mulched with litter and fertilized with treated sewage sludge (⅔) with bark admixture (⅓)). The higher was the rainfall amount during the vegetation period, the lower was the seasonal irrigation rate supplied to the Scots pine seedlings. Fresh mass of the above-ground parts of the Scots pine seedling was higher on the forest soil as compared to that on the post-arable land. The seedlings grown on the treatments mulched with litter were characterized by higher root mass in comparison to those on the control plots (without mulching). Mulching with litter influenced the general number of mites, the number of oribatid mites as well as their species diversity. Organic fertilization (treated sewage sludge with bark or with sawdust) did not influence these indices.

The aim of the study was to determine the effect of drip irrigation on yielding of summer squash ‘White Bush’ grown under conditions of two localities: Lipnik near Stargard Szczeciński (soil of quality class IVb, and of good-rye-soil-complex) and Kruszyn Krajeński near Bydgoszcz (soil of quality class V, and of weak-rye-soil-complex). The study was designed as one-factorial trial: drip irrigation as the experimental factor was considered. Drip irrigation was conducted according to soil tensiometer indications (-0.04 MPa). Both, in Lipnik as well as in Kruszyn Krajeński, drip irrigation significantly increased marketable yield of summer squash ‘White Bush’. A higher rise in yields due to irrigation was obtained in Kruszyn Krajeński than in Lipnik. Mean marketable yield of summer squash fruits in Lipnik was higher than that obtained in Kruszyn Krajeński. Drip irrigation significantly increased the single fruit weight in relation to the control, in both crop localities. The system of drip irrigation significantly affected the number of fruits per plant. Summer squash plants grown in Lipnik produced higher number of fruits, than in Kruszyn Krajeński. In addition, essential influence of drip irrigation was affirmed on chemical composition of fruits, i.e. dry matter, vitamin C, monosaccharides, saccharose, content of total sugars and sum of carotenoids and ß-carotin.
