Opis:
Currently in Poland the most widely used material for the production of electricity is fossil fuels. However, due to an increase in their prices and the tightening of European Union regulations on emissions of greenhouse gases, there are tendencies to transform the energy sector through the implementation of technologies based on alternative source of energy. The main focus is, therefore, on renewable energy source. In recent years, Poland has increased interest in the investments in renewable energy sources to fulfill the guidelines of the EU energy policy, which obliges Poland to obtain a 15% share of renewable energy sources in final energy consumption by 2020. One of the preferred state policy activities related to the production of energy from renewable sources is biogas production and cogeneration of electricity and heat. The simultaneous production of heat and electric or mechanical energy during the same technological process is called Combined Heat and Power (CHP). The Province of Warmia and Mazury is a ”green region”, which is why biogas is a solution that can ensure future energy security for the whole province. The methodological approach included in the article is to determine the potential energy that can be obtained from biogas cogeneration process. To this end, an analysis of Central Statistical Office data was performed as well as an analysis of available reports and studies for the Province of Warmia and Mazury, in the context of determining the energy potential of biogas cogeneration. As a result, the general method has been developed that allows the determination of the average theoretical potential for energy production from biogas cogeneration process. In addition, the article presents an illustrative diagram of a biogas plant with CHP system.

The development of societies building modern economies and production was and is associated with the continuous growth of energy consumption. Nowadays the world was forced to take a different look at the problem of energy consumption and fossil fuels. Because of cost of mining and production, unstable political situation in resource-rich countries and ecological perspective, many scientists seeks renewable energy sources, in quantity sufficient to meet the demand. Because of development of technologies obtaining many types of renewable energy sources that can be adapted to the needs of energy and the environment in which it will be received. Because of rich resources of ingredients that make production possible biogas, it is the most appropriate renewable fuel for agricultural infrastructure. The paper comprehensively describes factors influencing the development of renewable energy to their nature and technology in the application of renewable fuel gas with particular reference to methane gas and biomethane. There is general agreement on the Reed for sustainable biofuel industry, there is little understanding on how to avoid social and environmental degradation with global biofuel production. Results showed a variety of government policies, the most significant of which concerns agricultural production. In analyses the impact of government's policies on promotion of affordable, alternative energy sources capable of maintaining current energy consumption standards.

Increased interest in development of alternative fuels used to power combustion engines is caused by excessive use of fuels obtained from mineral sources. Depletion of resources, political aspects as well as the negative impact on the environment are commonly discussed issues in relation to fossil fuels. On the other hand, biodegradability, lower toxic components emissions and interchangeability with mineral fuels are commonly described benefits related to biodiesel, interpreted as fatty acid methyl esters obtained from fatty raw material. Also the multiplicity of raw materials that can be used for production promotes popularization of the biodiesel. However the variety of raw materials can have significant impact on the number of physicochemical properties of alternative fuels due to the differences in molecular structures forming given type of raw material. The article presents analysis of properties of different types of biodiesel and its mixtures with diesel according to the outlines presented in the quality standards for mineral and alternative fuels. Alternative fuels were produced in the laboratory setup from swine, poultry, rape and sunflower fatty raw material. Such parameters as: density, kinematic viscosity, flash point, acid value, oxidation stability, cold filter plugging point, sulphur content, water content and total contamination were examined, based on the results, the quality of the biofuels was evaluated. Study confirms that biofuels derived from plant origin fatty raw material present favorable results in the aspect water content, total contamination, acid value and cold flow properties, thus biofuels derived from animal origin raw fatty material presents lower density and sulphur content.

Almost all kinds of fuel applied in combustion engines come from refining industry, in which crude oil serves as basic raw material. However, there are also searched other sources of hydrocarbons which can be used directly or as additives to conventional fuels. The most popular in this regard are vegetable oils such as rapeseed oil, from which are produced esters used as fuel for diesel engines. On the other hand, as additives to gasoline can be used alcohols derived from the fermentation of agricultural products. Another way to obtain liquid hydrocarbons is pyrolysis of scrap tires. In this article, such pyrolytic product is analysed in terms of its fluorescence properties compared to the fluorescent properties of substances derived from the distillation of the pyrolysis product in three following temperatures: 160, 204 and 350 ºC. All the tested substances show relatively strong fluorescence in ultraviolet range. Fluorometric spectra were performed applying the spectrofluorometer Hitachi F-7000 FL with 1x1 cm quartz cuvette. Studied substances were previously diluted in n-hexane to obtain concentration 4 ppm. Amount of fluorescent peaks and their positions depends on kind of distillate. Ipso facto fluorescence method seems be suitable much more – than chemical analyse – for quick identification of substances constituting a components of distillate obtained from pyrolytic product.

Opis:
The World is strongly dependent on crude oil for its transport needs. In order to diminish this dependence, we need to introduce clean, CO2-efficient, secure and affordable transportation fuels. The current production of liquid biofuels in the EU25 is less than 1% of the market. Recent assessments have concluded that the 2010 targets, 18 Mtoe used in the transport sector, are unlikely to be achieved. There can be three basic possibilities of accomplishing this target: i) use of alcohols (first of all ethanol) and their mixing with petrol; ii) use of fatty acids esters (methyl or ethyl) of vegetable oils and their mixing with diesel fuel, iii) use of synthetic hydrocarbons of the synthetic gas coming from biomass resources and eventually their mixing with other "classical" hydrocarbons. This paper presents a novel way of utilizing alcohols as fuels for a diesel engine. It is proposed to use heavy alcohols as a mix with vegetable oils and conventional diesel fuel. It is presented the way to use alcohols. Namely, the use of heavy alcohols as a solvent for vegetable oil (named the biomix or BM) and after the obtainment of the thickness, which would be approximate to diesel fuel, mixing the biomix with diesel fuel to obtained biomixdiesel (BMD). This solution will be shown for example with butanol as heavy alcohol, rape oil as vegetable oil and conventional diesel fuel. The investigations are carried out with a simple diesel engine on the engine test bed. Main parameters of engine (power output, torque, specifically fuel consumption) and the main exhaust gas component (in this case CO, NOx, PM) will be investigated. There were better results achieved than one expected. Opposed to existing experiences, the maximum of power output and the torque of engine are higher in the whole range of the rotational speed of the engine crankshaft when the engine biomixdiesel (BMD) is reinforced. The addition of the component biomix to fuel influences the specific fuel consumption. Generally, with the larger part of the component biomix the specific fuel consumption grows. Because the power of engine also grows up one should expect that in exploitation the specific fuel consumption should not increase. Very important is that this fuel could be used to reinforce old, existing now and the future diesel engines. The production of butanol is known (from biomass and in other way with electrolysis of ethanol). The possibility to get butanol from ethanol gives a very good perspective for the use of ethanol from today's overproduction and moreover without the essential change of infrastructure. All this leads to the conclusion that fulfilling of the expected requirements of European Union regarding the ecofuels is fully possible.

Comprehensive testing of diesel engines currently requires not only a control system for the feeding system of the engine, but also a system ensuring precise control of its load and providing constant measurement conditions. Additionally, it is necessary during the tests to record a considerable number of operating parameters of both the engine and the loading system. The currently available stands for diesel engine tests, the so-called “engine test beds”, are standardly-equipped with special systems controlled using computer applications to ensure the maintenance of the assumed engine operation parameters. For compression-ignition engines, this most often takes place by control of the accelerator pedal position. In this solution, the engine is controlled by the engine controller, which controls the fuel charge based on the measurement of the rotational speed and the accelerator pedal position depending on the assumed control algorithm. The shortcoming of this solution is no possibility of controlling selected fuel feeding parameters, such as fuel pressure or the injection advance angle. This paper presents preliminary tests on an integrated control system for both engine load and the parameters of fuel fed to a compression-ignition engine. The developed control system enables engine test bed control, which, depending on the measurement variant, ensures the maintenance of a constant rotational speed or a constant engine load as well as control of the Common Rail system actuators.

This review presents different approaches of kinematic energy harvesting. Energy harvesting is the conversion at ambient energy present in the transportation system into electrical energy. Most vibration energy harvesters are based on spring-mass-damper systems which generate maximum power when the frequency of the ambient vibration fits the resonant frequency of harvester. The strategy of the reduction of this limitation is discussed in the paper. At first the periodic tuning of the resonant frequency is explained. Additionally the method of continuous tuning is presented. The emphasis is placed on maximizing the power transferred from the energy harvester to the output load. It is consider the possibility of using a dynamic magnifier in order to amplify the harvested electrical power. It is showed that the proper parameter selection of the magnifier the power can be enhanced and the effective frequency bandwidth of the generator can be improved. Next is presented a comprehensive review of the principles mechanisms of transformation the kinematic energy into electrical energy. The three main transduction methods are based on piezoelectric, electromagnetic and electrostatic phenomena. Piezoelectric harvesters use active materials that generate an electric charge when stressed mechanically. Electromagnetic generators change the relative motion of conduction in magnetic field, on the principle at electromagnetic inductions. Electrostatic generators convert the relative movements between charged capacitor plates into electrical energy. The advantages and disadvantages of each are described and evaluated and the relevant merits of each approach are concluded.

At the moment, there is a growing interest in low-power generating units in dispersed system. The production of energy in small units located in the vicinity of the energy recipients offers considerable benefits. First and foremost, it lowers the cost of energy production and the cost of its transfer and also makes the recipient independent from the domestic supplier. Small cogeneration aggregates will facilitate the use of energy from dispersed renewable resources. Gas self-ignition engines in cogeneration system powered with biofuels can be used in construction industry as ecological sources of heat and electrical energy, limiting the need for fossil fuels. This paper presents the possibility of using alternative fuels for internal combustion engines. It describes the possibility of using liquid biofuels separately or natural gas fuel to power diesel engines in dual fuel system. The conception of supplying low-power generator with diesel engine with natural gas to a dose of liquid biofuels test case. Pointed to the factors determining the desirability of a particular concept. Indicated the modification of the engine power to supply the natural gas generator with a dose of liquid biofuels. New technologies of extracting and using biofuels and alternative fuels are being introduced and developed for generating heat and electric energy. Studies on the use of gas and liquid alternative fuels are directly linked to research on the production of renewable and alternative energy as well as environment protection by minimizing emissions of toxic substances into the atmosphere.

An idea of using biomass for generating electricity and heat leads to new solutions for power generators, adapted to be supplied with gaseous and liquid biofuels. At present, there is a growing interest in low-power generators. This type of energy production is termed 'scattered energy generation'. It is expected that generating energy in small units situated close to energy consumers may bring about substantial benefits. It is assumed that in a scattered energy generation system, energy will be produced from local fuels, such as broadly understood biomass as a primary component for production of gaseous and liquid biofuels to power low-power energy generators. An adequate amount of biomass must be secured to ensure that biogas can be produced all year round. The easiest way to store highly efficient biomass is to ensile maize and rye as well as grass. The amounts of biogas obtained from these two types of silage are comparable. Using rye as a renewable energy source for production of either bioethanol or biogas is economically viable for at least two reasons: rye grows on poor class soils and rye cultivation technology can be reduced to just nitrogen fertilization. In conclusion, it seems reasonable to generate energy in Poland in scattered energy generation systems from crops grown for this purpose. Currently, gas-powered engines are being in several ways.

Protection of the environment and counteracting global warming require finding alternative sources of energy. One of the methods of generating energy from environmentally friendly sources is increasing the share of gaseous fuels in the total energy balance. The use of these fuels in compression-ignition (CI) engines is difficult due to their relatively high autoignition temperature. One solution for using these fuels in CI engines is operating in a dualfuel mode, where the air and gas mixture is ignited with a liquid fuel dose. In this method, a series of relatively complex chemical processes occur in the engine's combustion chamber, related to the combustion of individual fuel fractions that interact with one another. Analysis of combustion of specific fuels in this type of fuel injection to the engine is difficult due to the fact that combustion of both fuel fractions takes place simultaneously. Simulation experiments can be used to analyse the impact of diesel fuel combustion on gaseous fuel combustion. In this paper, we discuss the results of simulation tests of combustion, based on the proprietary multiphase model of a dual-fuel engine. The results obtained from the simulation allow for analysis of the combustion process of individual fuels separately, which expands the knowledge obtained from experimental tests on the engine.

These two aims can be realized by increasing energetic efficiency of transforming different sources of energy into technical systems and optimizing usage of own energy. These can be achieved by the usage of different equipment. The search for new constructions, structure and systems is still developing. This article describes the basic principles for use of Stirling engines in micro immobility cogeneration systems. This attempt is made because the Stirling engines seem to be a convenient equipment of optimizing usage of own energy in micro agropower plants. Especially we try to determine which type of the Stirling engine seems to be the best to fulfil the demands in practice. For this purpose a procedure of selection and adjustment of Stirling engines was formulated. In the described procedure many steps ought to be taken for correct choice of all technical arrangements. In this paper the following topics were considered: energetic demands of small houses, maximum instantaneous electric power, consumption of electric energy throughout a year, maximum instantaneous heating power, consumption of heat energy of the year, selection and choice of construction of Stirling engines, selection and choice of pressure of working gas.
