intersubjective knowledge
Opis:
Nowadays we observe the enhanced controversion comcerning differences between man and animals. The view denying the existence of substantial differences between man and animals is becoming more and more popular and leads to several uppsetting phenomena as, for instance, the approval of euthanasia in man, the denial of the traditional Hippocrates’ ethics in medicine and obligatory veganism. Although man presents many anatomical, physiological, genetical and behavioral similarities to other animals, and, from the biological point of view, belongs to the animal kingdom, several important differences between man and other animal species could be underlined. One of the most important is the ability of creating and profiting from intersubjective (interpersonal) knowledge. This ability is primary conditioned by the developement of a language, and then by the inventions of writing, printing and ,finally, digital record.

The Role of Hormones in Sexual Differentiation in Man

Opis:
The article presents fundamental information on the role of gonadal hormones in the developement of anatomical sex phenotypes and (via their effects on the brain differentiation) on the formation of gender identity and sexual orientation., The principal roles in these processes are played by androgen (mostly testosterone) in the fetal and peri-natal period in the male sex or their absence in the female sex. It is hypothesized that among the factors which can disturb these processes are environemental pollutants, which can interact with hormone receptors, including the receptors of sex hormones (s.c. endocrine disruptors, endocrine disrupting chemicals). The higher secretion of testosterone in men since the puberty leads to a stronger developement of muscles and skeleton, whereas the higher secretion of estrogens in women to the earlier end of a growing up process. It results in the inequality of physical strenght between women and men which had a significant influence on the formation of typical social roles of both genders, especially in the prehistorical period.

Opis:
The dolomites altered to dolomite-illitic rocks were foundac companying marcasite-pyrite-hematite mineralization within the Middle Devonian carbonate rocks in the eastern part of the Holy Cross Mts. (Poland) in the fault zones and their close vicinity. The alteration consist of dolomite recrystallization and replacement by illite, accompanied by small amounts of sillca, K-feldspars and disseminated pyrite or hematite. The final product of dolomite replacement by illite are massive, dolotmite-illitic rocks unevenly distributed within the unaltered dolomites or in fault breccia. They form irregular metric-sized nest-like bodies most often with blurred boundaries, or in some places sharp delineated veins and lenses. Illite crystallinity, demonstrates its hydrothermal origin. Altered rocks are characterized by elevated contents of REE, Rb, and sometimes other trace metal (Zr, Ti, Zn, U, Th, Ba and al.), compared to unaltered dolomites. The enrichment in REE, Zr and Ti implies their mobility in hydrothermal solutions. The lamprophyre intrusions present in the close vicinity may be considered as the probable source of potassium rich hydrothermal fluids. The peculiar features of dolomite-illitic rocks such as: their composition and occurrence close to the sulphide and hematite mineralization, allow supposing, that they may be a guide to deeply seated unknown ore deposits.
