The aim of the article is to present the factors which affect the choice of place of recreation, as well as indicate the preferred forms of physical activity taken up there. The authors also discussed the relationship between distance from open areas and frequency of visits. Moreover, they evaluated current knowledge about the role of the natural environment as a physical recreation space. The research was conducted among a group of 305 physically active individuals (students of the Academy of Physical Education and Sport in Gdańsk), using questionnaires. The respondents defined the role of location in comparison to other motivational factors for a range of physical activities (recreation). They also spoke about their preferred forms of physical activity in the natural environment, compared to the roles of natural and human environments with regard to physical activity. They also provided an answer to the question whether an open area which does not provide respondents with an opportunity to undertake their favoured recreation would remain of interest. The study results demonstrate the unquestionable importance of having access to attractive natural surroundings with respect to physical activity. This allows a relation to be made between leisure in the natural environment and an improvement in the health of the physically active.

Opis:
Safeguarding the functioning of local and international tourism is one of the most important social challenges. Mastering its principles is a prerequisite for success in the fulfilment of such human needs as relaxation, wellbeing and exploration of the world. The effectiveness of any steps to limit the risk and its consequences in tourism stems from multiannual observation of social phenomena, but it is also dependent on the level of theoretical preparation to take practical action for increased security at every stage of the journey. The aim of this article is to explore the idea of developing skills in securing safety in travel as an additional educational need of school children and young people. The article recommends supplementing the school curriculum at the primary and secondary school level in order to help create a profile of a student able to secure broadly understood safety for himself and for others.

Introduction. In addition to knowledge and aptitude, practical skills are necessary to competently pursue every profession. For students, teaching practice is the first opportunity to confront knowledge and skills acquired at university with school reality. The goal of this study was the self-esteem of didactic and educational skills among full-time and extramural Physical Education students of Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz participating in teaching practice as well as the comparison of their self-esteem with the assessment of teachers − placement supervisors. Material and Methods. A total of 625 Physical Education students of Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz and the same number of placement supervisors were involved in the study. The diagnostic survey method was carried out to collect the data. The questionnaire technique was used. Results. Based on the conducted research, the following conclusions were formulated: the majority of full-time and extramural students assessed their didactic and educational skills as good or very good, both full-time and extramural students were very well prepared for teaching practice in Physical Education, and the assessments of teaching practice supervisors, in principle, were higher than the self-esteem expressed by student teachers (p = 0.0000 for the Z test).
