Opis:
The paper deals with the estimation problem of model parameter values, in tasks where overestimation implies results other than underestimation, and wliere losses arising from this can be described by a quadratic function with different coefficients characterizing positive and negative errors. In the approach presented, the Bayes decision rule was used, allowing for minimizing potential losses. Calculation algorithms were based on the theory of statistical kernel estimators, which frees the method from distribution type. The result constitutes a complete numerical procedure enabling effective calculation of the value of an identified parameter or - in the multidimensional case - the vector of parameters. The method is aimed at both of the main contemporary approaches to uncertainty modeling: probabilistic and fuzzy logic. It is universal in nature and can be applied in a wide range of tasks of engineering, economy, sociology, biomedicine and other related fields.

Opis:
The paper deals with main effects occurring in flux linkages of the stator winding and analogous effects occurring in magnetising currents of induction motors whose rotor cores have certain anisotropic properties. Analytical forms which define spectra of the flux linkages have been provided on the basis of approximation of the magnetic field co-energy function. In the paper a series approximating the symmetrical components of phase flux linkages was derived and interpreted. Results of field calculations, carried out for the cores, were used to determine the influence of the anisotropy on the co-energy function of the rotating magnetic field and functions of the flux linked with the winding.

Opis:
The Goss texture is a characteristic feature of grain-oriented transformer steel sheets. Generator sheets, which are produced as non-oriented steel sheets, should have isotropic features. However, measurement results of generator sheets, confirmed by crystallographic studies, indicate that these sheets are characterized by certain, quite significant anisotropy. The first purpose of this paper is to present the influence of textures of generator and transformer steel sheets on their magnetization characteristics. The second aim is to propose a method which takes into account the sheet textures in the calculations of magnetization curves. In calculations of magnetization processes in electrical steel sheets, models in which the plane of a sheet sample is divided into an assumed number of specified directions are used. To each direction a certain hysteresis loop, the so-called direction hysteresis, is assigned. The parameters of these direction hystereses depend, among other things, on the texture type in these steel sheets. This paper discusses the method which calculates the parameters of these direction hystereses taking into account the given sheet texture. The proposed method gives a possibility of determining the magnetization characteristics for any direction of the field intensity changes.

Opis:
Magnetic measurements, carried out by means of the Epstein frame, have shown that most typical dynamo steel sheets have certain anisotropic properties. In numerical analysis, anisotropic properties are taken into account with the use of the special function of the grain distribution in the given dynamo sheet. For engineering purposes, it is desirable to assess the influence of these properties on the changes of the magnetic flux density in typical dynamo steel sheets, especially during the rotational magnetization. For this purpose, measurements of the flux density changes and field strength changes in the circular-shaped samples of two selected typical dynamo sheets were performed. These measurements were carried out for several values of the current flowing in windings which generated the axial or rotational magnetic field in the test dynamo sheet. The influence of the magnetic anisotropy on the magnetization process was briefly discussed for both types of the magnetization processes.

Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) was used to characterize relevant functional areas adjacent to the tumor what has important implications for surgical intervention. The aim of our study was to evaluate the functional areas of Broca and Wernicke responsible for production and understanding the speech which are very important from the point of view patients quality life using different variants of analysis available in the SPM package. Brain activity imaging with FWE controlling seems to be more appropriate than this with un uncorrected thresholds in clinical diagnostic. However analysis in the SPM should be carried out with great care taking into consideration that results can be influenced by parameters used in statistical approaches.

Opis:
Nowadays magnetic resonance imaging is used for anatomical assessment of human brain structures in neurodegenerative disorders causing brain atrophy for instance in multiple sclerosis (MS) or in Alzheimer Disease. Pathological brain tissue loss can be described in terms of change in the brain parenchymal fraction (BPF). This work shows the impact of segmentation method in SPM12 and additional segmentation in Computational Anatomy Toolbox (CAT12) on calculated BPF value for patients suffer from with MS no treated and treated with disease-modifying drug (DMD) interferon-beta (INFb) for one year and two years. Both methods confirm that brain parenchymal fraction decreases with age, nevertheless for patients not treated INFb decreases faster than for treated. An usability of Lesion Segmentation Tool toolbox in process of automatic detection and segmentation T₂ hyperintense lesions in FLAIR images is discussed.
