Opis:
We perform exact numeric calculations for a few versions of the two-orbital Hubbard model on the four site cluster. We show that the conventional spin 1 Heisenberg Hamiltonian can be obtained in the strong coupling limit, but only for some versions of the two-orbital Hubbard model. Then we propose a modified version of the Heisenberg Hamiltonian, that we call the two-orbital Heisenberg model, which is relevant in those cases, where the conventional spin 1 Heisenberg model fails.

Opis:
Fungicidal properties of 4-(1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)benzene-1,3-diols set under in vitro conditions against five phytopathogenic fungi have been evaluated. The substitution panel includes amino-, alkyl-, alkoxyl-, aryl- and heteroarylderivatives. The most active compound with the benzyl substituent exhibits fungistatic effects amounting to 90-100% with the concentration of 20 μg mL-1 against R. solani, similar to the standard fungicides. The derivatives with amine moiety generally display lower activity than other analogues. F. culmorum seems to be the most refractory fungus compared to studied compounds. The influence of substitution of C-5 at the constant fragment at C-2 of 1,3,4-thiadiazole ring on the antifungal effect is discussed. To explain differences in the activity the quantum-chemical calculations were made.

Opis:
The paper deals with modelling problems of periodic stratified composites with micropolar elastic components. By using the linear theory of micropolar elasticity and the homogenization method with microlocal parameters, a homogenized model accounting certain local effects of stresses and coupled stresses is derived. From the obtained model, systems of equations for the "first" and the "second" plane state of strain of the layered composites are presented.
Praca dotyczy zagadnień modelowania periodycznych warstwowych kompozytów o składnikach mikropolarnych. Wykorzystując liniową teorię mikopolarnej sprężystości i metodę homogenizacji z parametrami mikrolokalnymi wyprowadzono model homogenizowany uwzględniający pewne efekty lokalne w naprężeniach i naprężeniach momentowych. Z otrzymanego modelu otrzymano układy równań dla" pierwszego" i "drugiego" płaskiego stanu odkształcenia dla periodycznie warstwowych kompozytów mikropolarnych.

This paper is concerned with the problem of an interface insulated plane crack obstructing a uniform heat flux in a two-layer microperiodic space. An approximate analysis is performed within the framework of linear stationary thermoelasticity with microlocal parameters. A general method of solving the resulting boundary-value problem is presented. It is based on the use of potential functions and an analogy between the thermal crack problem and the skew-symmetric mechanical loading problem. The thermal stress singularities are discussed.
Problem stałego przepływu ciepła zakłóconego istnieniem izolowanej termicznie szczeliny międzywarstwowej w periodycznie dwuwarstwowej przestrzeni jest przedmiotem pracy. Przybliżoną analizę przeprowadzono w ramach liniowej stacjonarnej termosprężystości z parametrami mikrolokalnymi. Podano i zilustrowano metodę rozwiązania wynikającego zagadnienia brzegowego, polegającą na zastosowaniu potencjałów harmonicznych i ustaleniu analogii z odpowiadającym mechanicznym, niesymetrycznym problemem szczeliny. Zbadano osobliwości naprężeń cieplnych wokół szczeliny.

Within the framework of the linear elasticity with microlocal parameters three-dimensional contact problems for a half-space region consisting of alternating layers of two homogeneous, isotropic and linear-elastic materials are examined. Effective results can be obtained on the basis of similarity in govering equations for the homogenized model of the laminated medium and transversely isotropic elastic solid.
O trójwymiarowych zagadnieniach kontaktowych dla periodycznej dwuwarstwowej półprzestrzeni sprężystej. W ramach liniowej teorii sprężystości z parametrami mikrolokalnymi zbadano kontaktowe zagadnienia przestrzenne dotyczące wciskania stempla w periodycznie dwuwarstwową półprzestrzeń sprężystą. Efektywne wyniki uzyskano dzięki podobieństwu rządzących równań modelu zhomogenizowanego półprzestrzeni z równaniami dla ciała sprężystego z poprzeczną izotropią.

Opis:
The state of thermal stresses for a periodic two-layered elastic space weakened by an interface Griffith crack or a ribbon-like absolutely rigid inclusion is investigated. The analysis is performed within the framework of linear termoelasticity with microlocal parameters. The resulting thermoelastic problems have been reduced to their mechanical counterparts. The stress singularities as well as the effects of the layering are discussed within the framework of the theory of fracture mechanics.
Zbadano stan naprężeń dla periodycznej dwuwarstwowej przestrzeni sprężystej, osłabionej szczeliną Griffitha bądź doskonale sztywną, lamelkową inkluzią. Analizę przeprowadzono w ramach liniowej termosprężystości z parametrami mikrolokalnymi. Wynikające zagadnienia termosprężyste zostały sprowadzone do ich odpowiedników mechanicznych. Przedyskutowano z punktu widzenia teorii pękania osobliwości naprężeń i wpływ uwarstwienia.

The paper deals with modelling of thermodiffusion processes in periodically layered elastic composites. The study is based on the homogenized procedure with microlocal parameters and on the relations of the linear coupled theory of diffusion in thermoelastic homogeneous bodies. A useful homogenized model with microlocal parameters accounting for certain local effects of heat and diffusion fluxes, as well as stresses is derived. The equations of the homogenized model are given in terms of unknown macroconcentration, macrotemperature and macrodisplacements and extra unknowns called the microlocal parameters. An illustrating example of the application of the presented model is solved.
W pracy rozważano zagadnienie modelowania procesu dyfuzji w periodycznie warstwowych sprężystych kompozytach. Rozważania oparto na procedurze homogenizacyjnej z parametrami mikrolokalnymi i na liniowej teorii dyfuzji dla jednorodnych ciał termosprężystych. Wyprowadzony został zhomogenizowany model z parametrami mikrolokalnymi uwzględniający pewne lokalne efekty dla strumieni dyfuzji i ciepła oraz naprężeń. Rozwiązano również przykład ilustrujący zastosowania wyprowadzonego modelu.

4BrABT (2-(4-Bromophenylamino)-5-(2,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole) is a compound known for its interesting in vitro anticancer profile. 4BrABT inhibited proliferation and motility of several cancer cell lines in concentrations which were not toxic to normal cells. A major problem associated with cancer chemotherapy, but also caused by environmental factors such as pesticides, is neurotoxicity. Therefore, the aim of the presented study was an in vitro evaluation of the neuroprotective activity of this compound. 4BrABT activity (1–100 μM) was tested in cultures of mouse neurons, rat astrocytes and rat oligodendrocytes. A possible protective action of the compound in different neurodegenerative models, as serum deprivation (SD), excitotoxicity (presence of 500 μM glutamate in culture medium), as well as cisplatin toxicity (astroglia – 50 μM and oligodendroglia – 100 μM) was investigated. Cell viability in the tested cultures was assessed with the use of LDH and MTT methods. Moreover, 4BrABT ability to prevent the cisplatin-induced apoptosis in astrocyte and oligodendrocyte cultures was analysed after Hoechst 33342 fluorostaining. The obtained results indicate that 4BrABT was not toxic to neurons, astrocytes and oligodendrocytes. Moreover, a decrease in the neuronal LDH level was observed, which may suggest the ability of 4BrABT to act as a trophic agent. Furthermore, the protective action of the studied compound was shown in neuronal cultures exposed to neurotoxic conditions (presence of glutamate and trophic stress) and in cisplatin-treated astrocytes and oligodendrocytes. The expression of anticancer and neuroprotective activity raises hopes for the potential use of 4BrABT as a safe anticancer drug, or neuroprotective agent in chemotherapy-associated neurotoxicity.

The paper deals with the pIane problem of stress distributions in a nonhomogeneous elastic semi-space caused by concentrated loadings acting on its boundary. The body is composed of periodically repeated two-constituent laminae, and its boundary is assumed to be normal to the layering. The solution to the problem is presented within the framework of the homogenized model with microlocal parameters (Woźniak, 1987; Matysiak and Woźniak, 1987). Analytical results for stresses are obtained and shown in figures.
W pracy rozpatrzono płaskie zagadnienie dotyczące rozkładu naprężeń w niejednorodnej sprężystej półprzestrzeni wywołanych obciążeniami skupionymi działającymi na jej brzegu. Ośrodek jest złożony z periodycznie powtarzającymi się dwuskładnikowymi laminami, a jego brzeg jest prostopadły do uwarstwienia. Otrzymano rozwiązanie w ramach modelu homogenizowanego z parametrami mikrolokalnymi (Woźniak 1987; Matysiak i Woźniak, 1987). Zostały podane analityczne wyrażenia dla naprężeń i następnie przedstawione w postaci wykresów.

The paper deals with the propagation of shear horizontal (SH) waves in an nonhomogeneous elastic half-space composed of a layer whose shear modulus and mass density have a power dependence on the distance from the lower plane and the periodically stratified half-space. The equation which relates the wave speed to the wave-number and functions of the shear modulus and mass density is derived. The wave velocity is analyzed numerically. Especially, the influence of mechanical properties of the coating layer and the stratified foundation on the wave velocity is presented in the form of figures.

The paper deals with the plane problem of an elastic layer resting on a Winkler foundation with an emptiness. The stresses in the layer are caused by a given normal loading on its upper boundary plane. The mathematical formulation of the problem leads to a mixed boundary value problem and it is solved using Fourier transform methods and Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. The detailed analysis is derived analytically and numerically for an elliptic distribution of boundary loadings. The results for the normal displacement and the stresses on the lower boundary of the layer are presented in figures.

In this article two methods of ceramic mould surface microgeometry analysis were presented. First was a contact method, in which Profilometer S3P produced by Perthen Mahr was used. In second optical method optical profiler Veeco NT 9300 was used for surface microgeometry analysis. Evaluation of the results gathered with those methods was made. It was found that optical analysis method of surface microgeometry give better research possibilities (it’s more optimal).
