From among three stands, situated in the lower mountain zone, and representing the association Dentario-glandulosae Fagetum, the Łopuszna I stand, being in the growing up stage and phase of selection forest, reached the highest increment (8.5 m3/ha/year, i.e. 1.3% of actual stand volume/ha measured at the end of the control period). Stands, Łopuszna II, being in the stage of an intensive break-up, and Łopuszna III, being in the stage of an initial break-up, reached smaller increments (5.4 and 6.3 m3/ha/year respectively, i.e. each 0.9% of actual stand volume/ha). The greatest tree mortality occurred in stands Łopuszna II and III (14.1 and 10.5 m3/ha/year respectively), and the smallest in the stand Łopuszna I (4.8 m3/ha/year). The knowledge about the value of mortality, recruitment, and increment, expressed in the number of trees and in volume units, may greatly help in planning the amount of cut which would secure sustainability of the forest ecosystem in the layer of trees in the economic as well as in the protection forests, under similar stand and site conditions, managed by the selection cutting permitting to realize the conception of a close-to-nature silviculture.

The objective of the paper was to determine the efficiency of transport means on the example of the selected farms of the southern Poland. Operation efficiency of means was expressed through performance of transports and the amount of work time and labour inputs. The research covered 9 farms located in Małopolska region. Based on the analysis of work time structure and labour inputs and performance of transport means operation, one may clearly state that the work efficiency of the selected means for the transport of the analysed load is very low. The highest labour inputs were incurred for the transport of vegetables with a tractor with a tractor wagon and the lowest for transport of fertilizers with a tractor with a trailer. The set composed of a tractor and two trailers achieved the highest performance among the analysed means through high loading capacity and a high index of load capacity use.
Celem pracy było określenie oceny efektywności środków transportowych na przykładzie wybranych gospodarstw Polski południowej. Efektywność pracy środków wyrażono poprzez wydajność przewozów oraz wysokość nakładów czasu pracy i robocizny. Zakresem badań objęto 9 gospodarstw rolniczych położonych w rejonie małopolskim. Na podstawie przeprowadzonej analizy struktury czasu pracy i nakładów robocizny a także wydajności pracy środków transportowych można jednoznacznie stwierdzić, że efektywność pracy wybranych środków przy przewozie analizowanych ładunków jest bardzo niska. Największe nakłady robocizny ponoszono na transport warzyw ciągnikiem z wozem ciągnikowym, a najmniejsze na transport nawozów ciągnikiem z przyczepą. Zestaw ciągnik z dwoma przyczepami poprzez dużą ładowność oraz wysoki wskaźnik wykorzystania ładowności osiągnął wśród analizowanych środków największą wydajność.

As a construction material wood is characterized by many advantages: low density, a high degree of strength and stiffness, low thermal and electrical conductivity and chemical durability. However, it is an anisotropic material that contains structural elements of varying stiffness and strength. When moisture levels increase, it is characterized by the variability of its mechanical properties and creep resulting from rheological properties. Therefore, it is important to understand how the mechanical properties of wood vary depending on its heterogeneity, the orientation of the sample in relation to the directions of anisotropy and its natural disadvantages. The research material was obtained from the lumber of pine wood, which on the basis of the foursided planing process was divided into 2 groups: A, B. The wood was subjected to strength tests specifying for appropriate groups of samples respectively: modulus of elasticity in static bending – group A-B, static bending strength - group A-B. The influence of wood anisotropy on the elasticity and strength properties of wood was demonstrated, this results from the variability of the wood element orientation and load direction in relation to the main directions of anisotropy.

Opis:
Development of new or upgrading of existing airplanes requires many different analyses, e.g., thermal, aerodynamical, structural, and safety. Similar studies were performed during re-design of two small aircrafts, which were equipped with new turboprop engines. In this paper thermo-fluid analyses of interactions of new propulsion systems with selected elements of airplane skin were carried out. Commercial software based numerical models were developed. Analyses of heat and fluid flow in the engine bay and nacelle of a single-engine airplane with a power unit in the front part of the fuselage were performed in the first stage. Subsequently, numerical simulations of thermal interactions between the hot exhaust gases, which leave the exhaust system close to the front landing gear, and the bottom part of the fuselage were investigated. Similar studies were carried out for the twin-engine airplane with power units mounted on the wings. In this case thermal interactions between the hot exhaust gases, which were flowing out below the wings, and the wing covers and flaps were studied. Simulations were carried out for different airplane configurations and operating conditions. The aim of these studies was to check if for the assumed airplane skin materials and the initially proposed airplane geometries, the cover destruction due to high temperature is likely. The results of the simulations were used to recommend some modifications of constructions of the considered airplanes.

Opis:
Heat flow in heterogeneous media with complex microstructure follows tortuous path and therefore determination of temperature distribution in them is a challenging task. Two-scales, micro-macro model of heat conduction with phase change in such media was considered in the paper. A relation between temperature distribution on the microscopic level, i.e., on the level of details of microstructure, and the temperature distribution on the macroscopic level, i.e., on the level where the properties were homogenized and treated as effective, was derived. The expansion applied to this relation allowed to obtain its more simplified, approximate form corresponding to separation of micro- and macro-scales. Then the validity of this model was checked by performing calculations for 2D microstructure of a composite made of two constituents. The range of application of the proposed micro-macro model was considered in transient states of heat conduction both for the case when the phase change in the material is present and when it is absent. Variation of the effective thermal conductivity with time was considered and a criterion was found for which application of the considered model is justified.
