In my article I interpret the short story “Among the Forest” by Adam Asnyk. I discuss the issue of the relationship between auditory perception and melancholic experiences. To this end, while analyzing the text, I refer to concepts regarding the nature of melancholia and adopt the methodological apparatus of sound studies. As it turns out, the listener's attitude is crucial for overcoming melancholia. According to the poet, attentive listening to the surroundings and the words of other people allows to reach the meaning of life inscribed in nature and as a consequence may help find a cure for melancholia.

Opis:
Purpose: The aim of the paper is to test whether and to what extent the concept of CSV can be utilized in the marketing strategy of companies, and more precisely, whether and to what extent it can be used as a criterion for positioning the company in the market. Methodology: The authors analysed the case of the Partnership for Health from the perspective of one partner, grocery retailer Biedronka. In addition, we have conducted consumer research among students to find out if consumers have a positive perception of products with a social mission. Findings: The research findings indicate that, according to the respondents’ perception, products with a social mission could comprise a basis for a positioning strategy for Biedronka, but for now, many customers do not even know that Biedronka offers such products in cooperation with its partners. The lack of a promotional campaign aimed at educating buyers had a negative impact on project awareness. It can even be stated that its potential wasn’t exploited from a marketing viewpoint. Research limitations/implications: The major limitation of the conducted research is the sampling procedure. The authors introduced their own scale for measuring the consumers’ approach to products with social missions. This scale can also be used for implementation of similar projects. Originality: In the subject literature there is a cognitive gap connected with the use of CSV concept in corporate marketing strategies. The authors determined how this concept could be used in marketing with special regard to the positioning strategy. Additionally a special scale was designed for measuring consumers’ approaches to products with a social mission.

Opis:
Purpose: Presented study describes new parameters calculated from the Ocular Response Analyzer (ORA) raw data. Such an approach can increase the applicability of the ORA in ophthalmic diagnosis. Among many proposed and examined by us parameters from raw data of the air pressure and applanation curves, only a few were chosen and then applied for characterizing a selected group of patients. Methods: The study included healthy subjects in a control group and patients divided into 2 groups: suspect and glaucoma. A series of four ORA measurements were taken from each subject. The raw ORA data were numerically analyzed and new parameters were calculated from the ORA curves for each measurement. Comparative analysis was carried out for the newly proposed parameters (and original parameters from the ORA device). Results: This interesting finding is that the new parameters showed a statistically significant ability to distinguish the glaucoma suspect group from healthy and glaucomatous patients. Moreover comparable or higher repeatability than for IOPg and CH was obtained. Conclusion: Raw data from the ORA enables definition and numerical analysis of new parameters, characterizing every measurement, which can be successfully used for describing an individual eye and differentiating between some specific groups of patients.
