Opis:
Dendrochronological analyses undertaken in the 1990s allowed for the establishment of a new time-line in determining a more precise date for the origins of the Polish state. It appeared from these data that the creation of the Polish state occurred much later than it had been thought before. The formation of the early medieval state was initiated by vast and multi-faceted cultural changes occurring on the territory of the Gniezno plateau at the turn of the 9th and the 10th century. As the culminating point of that process, one can consider the consolidation of the local population in reaction to the threat posed by the outbreak of the great uprising of the Slavs along the Elbe River in 936-940.

Opis:
Professor Henryk Bogdan Samsonowicz was born on 23rd of January 1930 in Warsaw in the family of a known University of Warsaw professor, geologist Jan Samsonowicz (1888–1959) and Henryka Samsonowicz nee Korwin Krukowska (1892–1987). He graduated in history at the Department of Humanity of the Uni- versity of Warsaw, presenting a master's thesis on the policy of Gdańsk in the second half of the 14th century, written on a seminar by Marian Małowist. Pro- fessors Witold Kula and Aleksander Gieysztor have also played an important role in Henryk Samsonowicz's intellectual development, and later, during his stay in France, professor Fernandel Braudel. In 1954 he has defended his doctor's the- sis, and in 1960 received his postdoctoral qualifications based on the famous work “Studies of the patrician capital of Gdańsk in the 2nd half of the 15th cen- tury”. The academic interests of professor Henryk Samsonowicz have initially focussed on the history of the Hanseatic League, and later — on the importance of myth in history and on the beginnings of the Polish state in the 10 th century. In his scientific work he has created a new model of historical narration, which combines various aspects of political, economic and cultural life in one whole. He has published over a thousand reviews, articles and dissertations in print. He has occupied a series of important positions he was, among others, a dean of the De- partment of History of the University of Warsaw; during the times of “Solidarity” he was appointed as the Chancellor of the University of Warsaw. In 1989 he be- came the Minister for the National Education in the first non-communist govern- ment of Tadeusz Mazowiecki. He was an acclaimed organiser of popularisation of historical knowledge in Poland.

Opis:
The study presents the construction process of a model that forecasts arrears in dwelling payments in individual municipalities in Poland depending on the values of economic data from previous years. This enables to estimate arrears that will arise in the investigated municipalities in the year of analysis. The model constructed on the basis of artificial neural networks, which is a tool from the area of artificial intelligence, was used to carry out forecasts. More than one hundred thousand networks with multilayer perceptron (MLP) and radial basis function (RBF) architectures were tested. The MAPE for prediction of the number of indebted dwellings in municipalities with at least 50 indebted premises was 6.08%. The correctness of forecasts in the area of the direction of changes of household debt in municipalities between 2014 and 2015 was 76.84%.

The aim of this paper is to present, in theoretical and application terms, artificial neural networks (ANNs) as a method of estimating the product cost. The first part of the article reviews the methods used to estimate the product cost. The basic approaches to the problem of product cost estimation, presented by various authors, were described. In the second part an empirical study using artificial neural networks was conducted. Two research methods were used in this paper: literature analysis and empirical research carried out in the form of an extensive case study. The test object is a new generation induction motor. The main research problem of the article is the modelling of artificial neural networks for the estimation process of product costs with advanced production technology. The test procedures focus on the application aspects. The conclusions discuss the usefulness and advantages of using ANN models in estimating the costs of products

Opis:
Energy production from renewable sources is one of the main ways to fight against global warming. Anaerobic digestion process can be used to produce biogas containing methane. In the light of the growing demand for substrates, a variety of raw materials are required. These substrates should be suitable for anaerobic digestion, and processing them need to provide the desired amount of energy. This paper aims to discuss the agricultural biogas market in Poland, its current state, and the possibility of development during energy transformation, in particular in terms of using waste as a substrate for energy production. In February 2022, there were 130 agricultural biogas plants registered in Poland. On the other hand, in 2020, 4,409,054.898 Mg of raw materials were used to produce agricultural biogas in Poland. Among all the substrates used, waste played a special role. With the right amount of raw materials and proper management of a biogas plant, it is possible to produce electricity and provide stable and predictable heat supply. Bearing in mind the development of the Polish and European biogas markets, attention should be paid to ensure access to raw materials from which chemical energy in the form of biogas can be generated. Due to limited access to farmland and the increasing demand for food production, one should expect that waste will be increasingly often used for biogas production, especially that with high energy potential, such as waste related to animal production and the meat industry.

Opis:
Poland’s system of higher education has expanded rapidly in the last quarter century. Not all graduates of the massified educational system have succeeded in the labor market. Part of the public debate regarding the labor market performance of graduates focuses on the performance of graduates who attended private institutions and part-time programs. As yet, there has been no detailed research into the career paths of recent university graduates in Poland, let alone a comprehensive investigation of the differences between the performance of graduates of various types of studies. In this paper, we present the newly created Polish Graduate Tracking System. We use data from the system to evaluate the labor market performance of recent graduates and to demonstrate the differences between graduates of public and private education. Overall, the privately educated graduates fare better on the labor market, but a more in-depth analysis shows that this could be attributed to their strategy of early entry into the labor market.

Opis:
The aim of the presented work is to determine (i) mechanical properties of the ascending aorta wall (DAA) and the wall of the ascending aortic aneurysm (DAAA), in which spontaneous dissection resulting from the evolving disease occurred, and (ii) the strength of the interface between the layers in the above-mentioned vessels. Methods: The mechanical tests were divided into two steps. In the first step the mechanical properties of the of DAA and DAAA walls were examined on the basis of uniaxial stretching until rapture. In the next step the mechanical parameters of the interface between layers of DAA and DAAA walls were determined by the peeling test. Results: Higher values of tensile strength (max) and Young’s modulus (E) were obtained for the DAAA group, to which the dissecting wall of the ascending aortic aneurysm was classified. For circumferential samples, the difference between the DAAA and DAA groups was 39% in the case of tensile strength and 70% in the case of the Young’s modulus. Conclusions: Summarizing, the studies performed showed that the dissection process is different in the case of the ascending aortic aneurysm wall and the ascending aorta wall. The wall of the ascending aortic aneurysm is more susceptible to dissection, as evidenced by lower values of the mechanical parameters of the interface between the intima and the media-adventitia complex. The obtained results of mechanical properties tests confirm that dissection and aneurysm should be treated as separate disease entities that may coexist with each other.

Opis:
The paper presents a synthetic characterization of modern methods of manufacturing or regenerating machine elements. Considered methods are machining and additive methods, in particular 3D printing in the FDM/FFF technique. For the study, the authors made samples of the holder bracket using selected methods. Samples made by machining operations, 3D printing with various filling were tested. The paper contains a technical and economic analysis of the production of a holder bracket using the discussed methods. The dynamics of steel and FDM/FFF printed samples were also assessed by determining their resonance curves. The vibration magnification fac-tors were analyzed - the quotient of the vibration amplitudes in the resonance to the static deformations that occurred under the influence of the constant force and the location of the vibration resonances - the natural frequencies for individual vibration modes. The study's main objective is to assess the possibility of emergency changing the manufacturing technology of selected machine components. The authors were interested in partially replacing costly and not environmentally friendly milling with 3D printing. Machine elements can be manufactured by printing in classical machine building and emergency conditions to replace a damaged component temporarily (e.g., on a ship, for the time of arrival at a port or shipyard). The main assumption guiding the authors during the preparation of this publication was the analysis of the possibility of using the production of "ad hoc" prepared spare parts and their use in the event of a lack of access to parts made of the intended materials.
