Chlorine plays important role in physiological and biochemical processes in plants. It effects significantly on biological value of yield. In Experiment I (2004–2005) the levels of 15, 30, 60, and 90 mg Cl·dm⁻³ but in Experiment II (2006) the levels of 30, 60, 90 and 120 mg Cl·dm⁻³ in the nutrient solutions on the nutrient contents and some chemical parameters of fruits of greenhouse tomato cv. ‘Grace’ grown in rockwool were studied. It was found, that increased chloride contents in the nutrient solutions increased the content of chlorine in the fruits. Increasing contents of chloride in the nutrient solution at the range of 90 to 120 mg Cl·dm⁻³ decreased the nitrogen and increased potassium contents in fruits. Contents of chloride in the nutrient solutions above 90 mg Cl·dm⁻³ enhanced the content of α-ascorbic acid and decreased the content of reducing sugars in fruits. There were no effects on the content of nitrate and nitrite contents as well as the acidity and β-carotene in fruits. The tendency of lowering the dry matter of fruits above the level of 90 mg Cl·dm⁻³ in the nutrient solutions was appered. It was not found the effect of increased chloride levels in the nutrient solutions on P, Ca, Mg, S, Na, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu and B contents in the fruits of tomato.
Chlor odgrywa ważną rolę w procesach fizjologicznych i biochemicznych roślin. Ma istotny wpływ na wartość biologiczną plonu. W doświadczeniu I (2004–2005) badano wpływ chlorków w stężeniach 15, 30, 60 i 90 mg Cl·dm⁻³ natomiast w doświadczeniu II (2006) wpływ stężeń 30, 60 i 90 i 120 mg Cl·dm⁻³ w pożywkach na zawartość składników pokarmowych i niektóre chemiczne parametry jakościowe owoców pomidora szklarniowego odmiany ‘Grace”, uprawianego w wełnie mineralnej. Wykazano, że wzrastające poziomy chlorków w pożywkach zwiększały zawartość chloru w owocach. Przy wyższych zawartościach chlorków w pożywkach, wynoszących 90 i 120 mg Cl·dm⁻³, a tym samym chloru w owocach, następowało obniżenia zwartości azotu i wzrost zawartości potasu w owocach. Powyżej 90 mg Cl·dm⁻³ w pożywkach zwiększała się zawartość kwasu α-askorbinowego i obniżała zawartość cukrów redukujących. Nie stwierdzono wpływu chlorków na zawartość azotanów, azotynów i β-karotenu. Wykazano natomiast tendencję do obniżania się zawartości suchej masy w owocach przy stężeniach równych i wyższych od 90 mg Cl·dm⁻³ pożywki w stosunku do zawartości 15–30 mg Cl·dm⁻³. Nie stwierdzono istotnego wpływu wpływu chlorków na zawartość P, Ca, Mg, S, Na, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu i B w owocach pomidora.

Opis:
The aim of the paper is to assess the fluctuations of water levels in the Turawa Reservoir (50° 43' N, 18° 08' E) in relation to the tourist use of the water body. The reservoir is situated within the macroregion of the Silesian Lowland in the mesoregion of the Opole Plain. In administrative terms, the reservoir is situated in the pole Province within the borough of Turawa. In hydrological terms, in turn, it is situated in the catchment area of the Mała Panew river, which belongs to the basin of the Odra river. The Turawa Reservoir was opened for use in 1938, and in 1948 it was filled with water to its maximum for the first time. At present, the surface area of the reservoir, when it is filled with water to its maximum, is about 20.8 km2, its volume 99.5 mln m3, and its depth exceeds 13 meters. In the period of hydrological years 1976-2000 water levels in this reservoir were characterized by high, unnoticed in natural conditions, amplitudes of changes reaching 6.99 m. Anthropogenically stimulated fluctuations in the water level result in conflicts in terms of tasks and functions that the Turawa Reservoir was designed for. Changes in the level of the water surface in the Turawa Reservoir resulted from the impact of the natural factors (thaw and rainfall related high water levels), as well as anthropogenic ones (the need to improve sailing conditions, water supply for industrial and municipal needs). Decreasing the fluctuations of water levels in the Turawa Reservoir is necessary in order to maintain its tourist-recreational functions and keep the ecological condition of its waters at the appropriate level.

Opis:
Travelling off the road requires an adequate vehicle. The basic car needs to be properly chosen and prepared according to its destination. Due to understanding problem, the paper explains differences between various kinds of four-wheeling like extreme passage rally, time race or just off-road expeditions. The paper contains classification and description of the most popular in western Europe terrain cars, their construction solutions and general advantages and disadvantages. In the document are also presented vehicle selection criteria. This issue is as significant as proper choice of adequate driving type. Established criteria relate to variety and power of engines, four wheel drive, reduction gearbox, differential locks, weight, and the most important geometric and operation parameters. Due to above features is made the comparison and choice of car for further development. The review, evaluation and selection of building elements are customized to chosen car. Project of development of interior contains construction assumptions, strength calculations and numerical model of the drawer located in the rear of the luggage. Additionally there are also drawings of arrangement of particular body elements. Graphical model, drawings and strengths calculations are performed using the Autodesk Inventor Professional 2011 and AutoCAD Mechanical 2011. Just as the chosen equipment, project is adjusted to dimensions of luggage area of chosen car. Author’s design includes original spacing between the openings in exterior, what allows embedding drawer without any interference in the car body.

The paper contains the description and classification of pyrotechnic actuators focusing on the automotive industry applications. This paper also explains the compatibility issues during frontal impact of a passenger car with a large truck. The construction of the pyrotechnic actuators for the "active bumper" is presented here. The processes occurring within the pyrotechnic actuators after ignition of a pyrotechnic propellants have been explained. The investigations are focused on the dependence of a shape of the actuator's combustion chamber and the piston stroke time. It appears that the appropriate design of the combustion chamber can decrease the time required for a piston stroke using this same type of a propellant. This also allows to reduce the amount of propellant when the more rapid stroke is not required. This is because of the characteristics of the detonation waves which are responsible for the piston movement. The visualization of the detonation waves occurring due to ignition of the propellant is crucial for understanding the dependence between the construction of the actuators interior and the piston stroke time. Therefore, the approach of simulating numerically the detonation waves aroused. This simulation was conducted with aid of ANSYS Workbench 13 environment using the AUTODYN module. The numerical tests consists on modelling the actuator without changing the overall dimensions as well as the parameters of the propellant. The only elements modified were piston and the bottom of the cylinder shape.

Composites and nanocomposites as commercially used engineering materials with continuous development, are important for rising market and industry needs. Significant role is played by polymers, whose consumption increases every year, thanks to low cost of production, economical processing and broad scope of material composition possibilities, including nanomaterials and basing on them nanocomposites. Nanocomposites, using power of nanotechnology, may improve physical, chemical and mechanical properties, comparing to composites. Investigation of structure and properties of such materials is necessary to obtain knowledge about phenomena at micro and nanoscale and gives opportunity to design and control structure, because the properties of any material depend on its matter. Polymer matrix nanocomposites are interesting and very promising class of polymer composites. Investigation of structure development due to different heat treatment and under different processing condition of injection molded specimens of polypropylene and montmorillonite composition has been performed. Dispersion of nanoreinforcement, in the shape of 2:1 layer silicates, was observed under transmission and scanning electron microscope. Application of advanced technology of multiplication of oriented layer mostly reinforcing and orienting micro and nanoparticles along polymeric specimen, allowed to obtain several layers and significantly reinforced material. Light microscope has been used for observation layered zone, visible just in polarization mode.

Currently, the environment protection challenges the designers and manufacturers of combustion engines due to the fact that the engine emits toxic compounds, which are hazardous to the life organisms. Increasingly strict regulations concerning emission of the exhaust gases forces application of the innovative technologies or improvement of the presently used. One of systems, which reduce the toxicity of the exhaust gases, is the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system. This solution reverse part of the exhaust gases back into the manifold and mixes it with fresh inlet air. In consequence, the combustion temperature decreases. Less oxygen reacts with nitrogen and more connects with carbon and hydrogen. Presently there are two types of EGR system i.e. internal and external. In case of the first one part of the exhaust gases remains in the combustion chamber after the combustion but its construction is not complicated. The external EGR system uses one valve of the exhaust gas recirculation system located on the manifold. This location can result of the uneven portion of exhaust gases directed to the combustion chamber. In consequence, the decrease on the temperature is also uneven and therefore different portion of nitrogen oxide in the exhaust gases.

Aviation is one of the fastest growing modes of transport. Due to the growing number of flights, the consumption of aviation fuels (mainly jet fuels) keeps increasing. The combustion process in the aircraft engine results in harmful exhaust emissions having an adverse impact on the environment. Alternative fuels based on bio-components and biofuels are a way of reducing the harmful exhaust emissions. Analyses and measurements performed on real aircraft engines are complex and expensive. For this reason, increasingly more research and development projects have been carried out on small-scale engines. This paper presents investigations into volatile organic compound emissions from jet fuel combustion in a miniature turbojet engine. Based on chromatography tests, the compositions of exhaust gases produced by the jet engine fed with various fuels were determined, which in turn led to evaluation of its toxicity and harmfulness. Conventional fossil-based fuel Jet A-1 and a blend of Jet A-1 with 25 vol. % of biobutanol were tested at the same fuel flow rates. The engine working parameters such as, e.g., thrust or emission index have been determined with respect to the type of fuel. The test results have been compared and analyzed.
