Analyzing such quantities of data requires high level of distribution – both data and computing. This is especially true in case of complex algorithms, often used in text mining tasks. The paper presents a prototype implementation of CLUO – an Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) system, which extracts and analyzes significant quantities of openly available information.

Opis:
Plant cover is an important element in the management of earthen structures and slopes improving their aesthetic values and limiting their vulnerability to denudation processes. With regard to landslide hazards, an important aspect in the presence of plants is the effect of their root systems on the shear strength of the substrate and, consequently, on slope stability. The aim of the study was to determine the impact of the tree cover at the Wysoka Górka archaeological site on the stability of the earthen embankment on Góra Katedralna in Chełm (Lublin Province). These architectural elements originate from the times of Chełm’s glory in the first half of the 13th century, when it became the capital of Halych-Volhynia Duchy and a residence of Prince Danylo Romanovych (Isaiecić 1999). The research involved identification of the geological structure of the embankment (surveying, measurement of the filtration coefficient) and laboratory determination of the geotechnical parameters of the soil (particle size distribution and soil compressive strength measured in a triaxial compression apparatus). In the next stage of the study, stability was calculated with limit equilibrium methods in the GeoStudio program. Standard calculations of the embankment stability were performed and the stability coefficient for the slope devoid of vegetation and the tree-covered slope were compared assuming zero suction pressure. The shear strength parameters of soil reinforced by plant roots were adopted following the recommendations specified by Hubble et al. (2013). The authors performed a probabilistic analysis in order to determine the probability of critical values of the safety factor (<1.0) and comparative stability calculations, taking into account hydrological effects for the tree-covered and tree-devoid (after felling the trees) embankments (Sonnenberg et al. 2010, Simon and Collison 2002). The results of the stability calculations demonstrated that the presence of viable plant roots in the substrate increased slope stability, and the presence of tree stands at the bottom of the embankment appeared to be more favourable. Modelling the slope stability with consideration of the effect of atmospheric factors has shown that the presence of woody vegetation contributed to increased water infiltration into the embankment, resulting in reduction of suction pressure. In turn, tree felling led to reduction in suction pressure due to inhibition of evapotranspiration.

In the paper the method of collecting, processing and sharing information along food chain is presented. Innovative features of that method result from advantages of data engineering based on semantic technologies. The source to build ontology are standards and regulations related to food production, and data collected in databases owned by food chain participants. It allows food chain information resources can be represented in semantic languages RDF/RDFS/OWL and form semantic database where data are easily integrated according to various criteria using automatic inference algorithms. Feasibility of proposed method is achievable with Ontorion Knowledge Framework.

The comparison of particle size distributions measured by sedimentation methods and laser diffraction shows the underestimation of the fine (clay) fraction. This is attributed mainly to the shape of clay particles being different than spherical. The objective of this study was to demonstrate differences in the results of particle size distributions of soils determined with the method of laser diffraction using two different dispersion units of the Malvern Mastersizer 2000.

Existing solutions to the problem of finding valuable information on the Web suffers from several limitations like simplified query languages, out-of-date in- formation or arbitrary results sorting. In this paper a different approach to this problem is described. It is based on the idea of distributed processing of Web pages content. To provide sufficient performance, the idea of browser-based volunteer computing is utilized, which requires the implementation of text processing algorithms in JavaScript. In this paper the architecture of Web pages content analysis system is presented, details concerning the implementation of the system and the text processing algorithms are described and test results are provided.

Well-controlled method of Si nanopattern definition - pattern definition by edge oxidation have been presented. The technique is suitable for fabrication of narrow paths of width ranged from several tens of nm to several μm by means of photolithography equipment working with μm-scale design rules. Spring-fed fens in Wardzyń represent the rare group of alkaline mires supplied by artesian groundwater. Using multidisciplinary methods (including sedimentological, hydrometric and hydrochemical, pollen, macrofossil, malacological, geochemical, radiocarbon dating, and stable oxygen and carbon isotope analyses) we have been able to (1) reconstruct the main phases of spring-fed fen development, and to (2) determine the cause of Neoholocene groundwater ascension responsible for the mire inception. These phases are characterized by cyclic organic (peat) and carbonate (tufa) sedimentation associated with the Holocene fluctuations in humidity and temperature. The beginning of the activation of hydrological systems (involving the flow of confined groundwater of the Cretaceous aquifer) at Wardzyń occurred in the Subboreal period of the Holocene, after a long episode of decreased humidity initiated ca. 4.2 ka cal BP.

Electric conductivity, Hall effect and magnetic susceptibility of Pb$\text{}_{1-x-y}$ Sn$\text{}_{y}$Gd$\text{}_{x}$Te mixed crystals with 0.13 ≤ y ≤ 0.93 and 0.001 ≤ x ≤ 0.04 were experimentally studied over the temperature range 4K ≤ T ≤ 300 K. The incorporation of Gd ions into the Pb$\text{}_{1-y}$Sn$\text{}_{y}$Te matrix results in semi-metallic n-type conductivity of the crystals with y < 0.6. For crystals with y > 0.6 one observes only semi-metallic p-type conductivity. We present a model explaining these results in terms of the Sn composition dependence of the location of Gd$\text{}^{2+}\text{}^{/}\text{}^{3+}$ level with respect to the band edges of PbSnGdTe.

Ac susceptibility (χ$\text{}_{ac}$) and dc magnetization (M$\text{}_{dc}$) of the organometallic magnet Na[FeO$\text{}_{6}$(C$\text{}_{10}$H$\text{}_{8}$N)$\text{}_{3}$] have been studied in temperature range of 4.2-200 K, in an external magnetic field up to 16 kOe. Some peculiarities of the χ$\text{}_{ac}$ and M $\text{}_{dc}$ behavior, which are characteristic of spin-glasses, e.g. cusps in the susceptibility and zero-field-cooled magnetization, an irreversibility between the field-cooled and zero-field-cooled magnetization and dependences of the T$\text{}_{cusp}$ temperature on the frequency and the intensity of the magnetic field, were observed at low temperatures.

Magnetic susceptibility, Hall effect and resistivity of narrow-gap $Ge_{1-x-y}Sn_xMn_yTe$ single crystals (x = 0.083÷0.115; y = 0.025÷0.124) were investigated in the temperature range 4.2-300 K revealing a ferromagnetic ordering at $T_C$ ≈ 50 K. Temperature dependence of magnetization indicates a superparamagnetic phase with magnetic clusters arranging in a spin glass state below the freezing temperature $T_f$. Magnetic structure of InSe ⟨Mn⟩ 2D-ferromagnetic single crystals was studied by SQUID magnetometry, neutron diffraction, secondary ion mass spectroscopy, and wave dispersive spectra. Hysteresis loops of magnetization were observed at least up to 350 K. The cluster model of ferromagnetism is considered. The formation of self-assembled superlattice ferromagnetic InSe:Mn/antiferromagnetic MnSe during growth process and further annealing was established.

We present preliminary studies of magnetic properties of Ge$\text{}_{1-x}$Cr$\text{}_{x}$Te semimagnetic semiconductors with low chromium content x < 0.026. The static and dynamic magnetometry techniques were employed for the current investigations. The obtained results showed large bifurcations between zero-field cooled and field cooled magnetization curves at temperatures lower than 50 K. The dynamic susceptibility measurements proved via frequency shifting of the peaks that the observed magnetic order at low temperatures was the spin-glass-like state caused by magnetic frustration of the system.
